  1. I think the story "Madonna can't sing" is just because when she began she was too threatening to society and to artists (she was given the public something new and they were afraid they lose their confort zone). She was considered a whore and it was easy to say "She can't sing" to make her look less than the others. She had an incredible personality, she was a strong woman, she was an incredible dancer so I guess they tried to despise her using her weakest weapon (not because her voice was bad, just because she was better dancing, giving good faces, and don't giving a damn to what people say... so the best way to criticize her was "She's a singer and she can't sing". But I think she showed she could sing with "Love don't live here anymore" for the first time. When people say she can't sing, most of the times is like saying "She don't have a great voice"... But, do you think that songs like "Material girl" or "Holiday" need a good voice? It's not that she doesn't have a good voice, is that she doesn't need to use it for some of the songs. I mean, when I watch "Like a virgin" sang by Birtney on MTV I think it sounds good and funny... when Xtina sings her part with the "next to miiiiiineeeee oooooh uuuuuuh yeah" it's like... "Ok, too much! We know you have a great voice but this version doesn't need it". And now, the problem is that she uses so much effects on her DVDs with her voice that people thinks "If she edited this too much is because she can't sing". But as some said here she has really good songs where she probes she can sing. "Love don't love here anymore", "Crazy for you"; "Papa don't preach", "Live to tell", "Like a prayer", "He's a man", "Bad girl", "Ray of light", the "Evita" soundtrack... I guess that people who says she can't sing doesn't like Madonna (as a persona) and it doesn't matter if she makes the best vocal performance in history.... they will keep saying that.
  2. And my stupid question... What does the man say before "Let's go picture" in the video?
  3. Fan since: 1984/1985 Favorite Album: I'm Breathless Favorite Single: Gambler Favorite Video: Bad girl Favorite Tour: The Girlie Show / The Blond Ambition Tour (depends of the day) Favorite Movie: Who's That Girl / Shanghai Surprise (depends of the day)
  4. Yeah, lot of people I know used to say that... Even I remember a 1997 article saying "Madonna is working in her next album... A new "Like a virgin" or a new "Like a prayer" is coming? Imagine that "Ray of light" was called "Like a flower"??? :P
  5. For me "The Celebration Tour" too... I don't care much what MJ said about her and all those things and I can understand the at the time they were equals, but I think the "Celebration" tour was too much about Michael. I could see something like she did on "The virgin tour" or "Sticky and sweet" tour adding a sampler or something like that. Something like what she did with Prince after "Like a prayer", who knows? But first of all I think "Like a virgin" was too big to share the spotlight this way. I think it could have been nice if she had more artists there. For example, imagine "Like a virgin" complete by Madonna but in the shadows apart from her and Michael you could see Bowie, Prince and other artists that inspired her. A mash up between "Like a virgin" and "I want your sex" could have been funny too :P
  6. Ray of light. Great in 1998, Boring now
  7. Yeah, I think the same way... I admit that it would be great to listen unknown songs but for me, a good re-edition of "Like a virgin" would be: CD 1: The original album with a good remaster CD 2: All the remixes from the singles with a good remaster too (they can be put in a CD, there are not much remixes) and "Into the Groove", "Crazy for you" and "Gambler". DVD/Blu-ray: The complete "Virgin Tour" in HD with the official videos (remastered. I think that the upscales are good enough for youtube, they are for free, but if we pay I want more than that) and some performances of "Like a virgin" (at least the MTV one. I'd love to have all the others in HQ but I guess it could be boring for the general public). About the demos... Of course I'd love to hear "Warning signs", "Desperately seeking Susan" but it's just because they know they exist. I mean, "Your Honesty" was a great surprise when it was released on "Remixed and revisited" but if it wasn't, well, nobody had the need or listen to them because people didn't know of it... So for me a complete edition of the official versions (promo and released) and the videos would be great enough...
  8. Well, I've never done a live concert, but I guess is normal that the more shows you do, more relaxed you are. I was in the opening night of the "Drowned world tour" and in the second one and was the same. The first night she was much nervious and the second was like "Well, yesterday was ok, so now I can have fun". I'm sure the next night she'll have even more energy
  9. On the opening night of the "Drowned world tour" she was late, but half an hour more or less. Not much drama about it, it was the first show and people didn't get upset for that.
  10. Now when I look back, I think the "Erotica" era was right as it was. I mean, when people ask "What would have happened if..." well, who knows? Things were that way, and that's why we had the rest of her works the way that we have them. If she had done something different we'd had to change all the rest of her story from "I'll remember" to "The Celebration Tour". So, is almost imposible to see what would had happen with her life and her career. It's true that, if she had change the order of the singles, I think the album could have been a success. After "This used to be my playground" everybody was hoping to listen Madonna's new album. I think that if she had released "Deeper and deeper" as the first single, "Erotica" could have been a really successful album. In my opinion the problem with "Erotica" was all the controversy it was around the relased and people tried to ignore her. I think that albums sell thanks to the first and second single most of all. So I think the "Erotica" sells could have been much better if she had released "Deeper and deeper" and "Rain" as the first two singles. And in that moment, when most of the people had bought the album, release "Erotica" and "Sex" to make the promotion going on. The controversy would be the same, yes, but I think the album would have sell much more and people would remember it much more than what the do.
  11. Why should Madonna have a reason to go out with Gwyneth, if she's not with Brad Pitt anymore? I can understand her :P What deathproof say could be a good reason, but I guess that having a different life in different places, a family a different tastes could be the reason we don't see them together anymore. But don't see them together doesn't mean that they had problem. Look at Ingrid or Rosie, or Debby... When do we see Madonna and Debby together??? Not very often. What I'm trying to say is that they can be living their lives and they didn't have a problem. I have really good friends that I only see when I go to the supermarket and we are talking an hour about out lives and we never get together in other places, so I guess that probably the problem is that Madonna and Gwyneth don't go to the supermarket
  12. I always thought that the story of her hair falling was during and after "The blond ambition tour". I remember that other said that it was more confortable for her to have it cut for the "hat" of "Vogue", "Like a virgin" and "Justify my love" and for the wig of "Express yourself". Any way, whatever the reason was, she looked simply amazing. I always thought that Madonna looked better with short (or hair to the shoulders) than with long hair.
  13. Probably because other fan bases don't buy over and over again the same album just because it has a different color. They sell holographic covers and fans go crazy buying them (and for a expensive price thinking that is just a piece of cardboard) so, why do they need to look for unrealeased demos, remixes, clean them, remaster (or master) them, pay for a new design, and all the things they have to do to make it "perfect"? On the other hand... I was thinking the other day... For example, with the first album... The legend says that Madonna was upset with Steve Bray when he released "Pre-Madonna"... I can see her saying "We won't added "Ain't no big deal" to "Madonna" reedition just because I don't want to pay him the rights of the song".
  14. Amd she was only 20 minutes late :P I was there the first two nights in Barcelona and the show was incredible... I went with a friend, she's a heavy metal lover and was like "OK, I go there because I want to see your face, not Madonna". With "Impressive instant" she was jumping all over the place and when she started "Candy perfume girl" my friend was with the open month... She didn't know the lyrics and I remember her screaming "Tell me Nah, nah, nah, nah / Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, oooohhhh" on "Don't tell me". And the crowd went crazy during "La isla bonita" saying "¡Olé! ¡Olé" was a magical moment. I'm not a real fan of "Holiday" but when she started the song... It's incredible how much energy gave to the public... That's when I understood the big hit it is for the general public... I think the problem is the DVD edition. It doesn't make it justice. I think that's why lots of fans don't see it as good as it is. At least, the ones that didn't had a chance to see it live 22 years ago.
  15. She uses a picture of "Erovision" for the "Madame X" tour, better use one from the "Drowned world tour" than one from a performance and not from the concerts :P I love "Drowned world tour"
