Here Comes The Rain Again. Why??

After all these years I still can't understand why The Eurythmics 'Here Comes The Rain Again' was included as an interlude in the Sticky and Sweet Tour.

I love The Eurythmics and that song, but have no idea why it was there.

Does anyone have an answer?

The same reason why ‘Feels like Home’, ‘Last Night a DJ Saved My Life’, ‘Put Your Hands Up 4 Detroit’, ‘Toop Toop’, ‘Doli Doli’ etc were included: To create versatility.

I would like to see more of ‘Rain’ instead of another artist’s song though. ‘Rain’ is my favorite Madonna song ever and it had not been performed live since The Girlie Show.

It's all about change mostly (caterpillar, butterfly) and another sort of manifestation of a common Madonna mantra that in spite of looming obstacles or whatever path you take, you can always change. That's what I always took from it. So many symbols in the video though so it's really open to your own interpretation.

Not saying it was bad, it just jolted me out of the show and distracted me. CGI video with no Madonna plus Annie Lennox felt like I was at a different show. Wish she would release her concepts for her tours in book form or something. Her process and choices are fascinating.

The entire tour pretty much played on the concept of mashups.

  • Vogue - 4 Minutes
  • Die Another Day - Afrika Bambaataa
  • Into The Groove - Toop Toop
  • Holiday - Celebration/MJ
  • Dress You Up - My Sharona
  • Rain - Here Comes the Rain Again
  • Music - Put Your Hands Up 4 Detroit
  • Like a Prayer - Feels Like Home
  • Frozen - I'm Not Alone
  • Hung Up - Pantera

Most of those didnt work imo - she went a bit too obscure with those but then Kevin Antunes is a poor musical director compared to Stuart and Pat :(

I thought they were all great! It was a well thought out tour with lots of high energy. Especially Into The Groove, which was the highlight of the tour for me.
