Madonna arrives in Manila

http://news.abs-cbn.com/entertainment/02/22/16/madonna-arrives-in-manila

MANILA – International pop star Madonna finally arrived in Manila ahead of her two-night concert in the country on Wednesday and Thursday.

She arrived onboard a chartered Boeing 752 plane at around 1:58 a.m. Monday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport runway.

Her passport name Madonna Louise Ciccone was stamped by Philippine Immigration officers before she disembarked from the plane. She did not pass through the normal customs, immigration and quarantine inspection at the NAIA.

Madonna was then whisked out of the airport onboard a fleet of vehicles surrounded by foreign and local security.

Even airline and ground personnel were also barred to use their phones to take photos or videos of the American singer.

Madonna’s Philippine concert us part of her world tour promoting her 13th studio album, "Rebel Heart," which began in Montreal last September 9 and continues throughout North America and Europe before heading to Asia, New Zealand and Australia.

Madonna’s show is one of the most expensive concerts to be held in the Philippines, with a top ticket price of nearly P58,000 to see her up close and personal.

Ticket prices for the concert are as follows: P57,750 (VIP); P52,500 (Patron VIP); P52,000 (VIP Floor); P42,000 (Patron); P33,600 (Lower Box VIP); and P29,400 (Lower Box); P8,400 (Upper Box); P3,150 (Gen Ad).

MANILA, Philippines — Queen of Pop Madonna has arrived in Manila for her two-day concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on February 24 to 25.

According to reports, the pop diva, carried in a chartered Boeing 752 plane, gave the Filipino fans a slip as she landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport from her Macau tour at around 1:58 a.m. Monday.

It was also mentioned that the Grammy-winning pop queen did not pass through the normal customs, immigration and quarantine inspection at the NAIA.

Fans were quick to react about Madonna's arrival.

Even Rajo Laurel cannot keep his excitement.

While Madonna has yet to post on social media about her arrival, her pianist for the tour already did, adding up to the hype of the once-in-a-lifetime concert.

Madonna crew to make Filipinos crazy for herRead more: http://entertainment.inquirer.net/190622/madonna-crew-make-filipinos-crazy#ixzz40uxehlGI

AT AGE 57, Madonna seems to have done everything, imaginable or otherwise, in her 36-year career.

But for her current “Rebel Heart†tour, the Queen of Pop is pulling out all the stops to give her fans, including Filipinos, a show they will remember for a long time.

Staggering are the details involved in the production of Madonna’s tour, cited by Forbes magazine as “the most expensive†of 2015, and which rolls into Manila on Feb. 24 and 25 at SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena:

More than 2 million Swarovski crystals adorn Madonna’s costumes, whose seven designers include Alessandro Michele for Gucci, Alexander Wang, Fausto Puglisi, Jeremy Scott for Moschino, Nicolas Jebran, MiuMiu and Prada.

Over 1,000 wardrobe pieces are required for all the performers on stage, 500 pairs of shoes have been custom-made, and more than 200 pairs of fishnets will be worn by Madonna when the tour ends, with 60 people dressing, sewing and adjusting the costumes night after night.

While the audience are watching the show, some 2 million LED pixels will light up the rear screens on stage, with 63,500 kilograms (140,000 pounds) of lights, sound and video equipment in use for each night’s performance. The movable stage ramp alone weighs 24,970 kg (55,000 lb).

Comprising Madonna’s advance party are more than 100 crew members, who are due to arrive in Manila today to start mounting the elaborate stage set, which will also be flown in from Macau, the tour’s previous stop.

The stage—the same one used for the tour’s opening date on Sept. 9, 2015, at Bell Center in Montreal, Canada, and all other coming dates—was designed by Stufish, the design studio founded by Mark Fisher, which also did the sets of the respective tours of Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, U2, Lady Gaga, Elton John, and 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, among others.

The MOA Arena crowd will be thrilled to see that the Rebel Heart stage “is almost as long as the entire court floor area†of the venue, according to a representative of the tour’s Philippine promoter, Music Management International.

The main stage leads to a long catwalk extending from its middle to the center of the space. At the middle of the catwalk is a second, circular-shaped stage, while at the far end is a third, heart-shaped stage.

The stage will allow Madonna to move as freely as possible and reach out to all sections of the venue. In fact, there will be seven bouncing sway poles extending over the audience during the performance.

The Rebel Heart concert averages 20 songs, give or take a couple of additional tunes, depending on Madonna.

The set list from the Feb. 20 show in Macau contains four segments: “Joan of Arc/Samurai†theme, opening with the Beatles’ “Revolution†accompanying a video, before segueing with five Madonna songs; “Rockabilly meets Tokyo,†five songs including “True Blue†and “Like A Virginâ€; “Latin/Gypsy,†five songs including “La Isla Bonitaâ€; “Party/Flapper,†five songs including “Material Girlâ€; plus an encore, “Holiday.â€

The tour, which will end on March 20 in Sydney, has a total of 82 shows: 36 in North America, 25 in Europe, eight in Oceania, and 13 in Asia, including the two dates in MOA Arena.

It is presented by Live Nation.

Madonna wants the same quality of her concerts, whether in London or Manila. Nobody will get shortchanged, said Tres Thomas, senior vice president and tourPosted Image director of Live Nation, organizer of the Queen of Pop’s Rebel Heart Tour which is being promoted in Manila by Music Management International (MMI).

Thomas, along with Live Nation head of global touring operations Rick Sobkowiak, and Madonna production manager Jason Danter, met Philippine media members while the tour’s production crew were busy setting up the stage at the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena for the Feb. 24 and 25 shows.

The elaborate, custom-made stage, audio and other equipment, weighing 40 tons, were flown in by three Boeing jets to Manila from the tour’s Macau stop Feb. 20 and 21.

Designed by Stufish, the architectural firm that also did the sets of toursPosted Image of The Rolling Stones, U2, Elton John and the 2008 Beijing Olympics opening ceremony, the Rebel Heart stage’s vertical length is almost as long as the entire floor area of MOA Arena.

Its shape is a hybrid between a cross, an arrow and a heart, with long catwalks and three stages.

Thomas noted that there are elements in the show that have never been seen around the world before this tour.

MMI representatives confirmed that new sections in the lower box area of MOA Arena have been opened to accommodate more people.

Tickets to the upper box and general admission sections for Feb. 24 and 25 have sold out.
