  5. Is it just me or are the few official photos released kind of.....bad? I'm not in any way saying the tour or the staging looks bad, it's just that the pictures are like real shitty and don't do the show justice. I was expecting some fierce photographs given how they're in total control over the images released this time around.

  6. personally I don't think, her live vocals now are drowned out by backing tracks or she just mimes to pre recorded live vocals like vogue re-invention + MDNA Vogue, GGW MDNA no live vocal at all. Her vocals live 87-90 were better than they are now to be honest as she had more energy plus at least she really sang live with little or no backing track. I think as she has got older her voice has got deeper and her singing ability was always better in the higher range ... its a shame but I dont think she has looked after her voice as much as she could have. But still think she is an amazing performer.

  7. I mean I think its a mixture of both. God Control is pure playback Im sure. The strings in the verse of Dark Ballet are probably live while the classical part is definitely not. The piano is all live. Frozen is probably a mix. Her players playing over top of recording (or a string synth played live) to have that big full sound. The string solo in the middle sounds live. Not to mention added guitars. I would also assume that the reason the kick drum or bass is played almost until the end of the song is for the sole purpose of helping the live strings keep time. Vogue backup singers sound mostly all live. I think if we had a better recording you could hear the difference.

  8. The musicians are playing live, you can hear in the recording of opening night the piano solo in dark ballet, wrong notes are played. Also, her instagram story yesterday showed that behind the stage is a dedicated musicians area with a sign that clearly read "No talking, Live Mics". The grand piano is there with the cello player and synthesizers and other stuff. ill upload the video in a second so you all can see... EDIT: grrrrrrr.... I didn't save it. Aren't there instagram accounts solely dedicated to preserving her stories?? EDIT: Here ya go...

  9. Yeah I agree, either give us some nice HQ beautiful official photos to look at that actually do the show justice or nothing at all. What is that bad quality mess? it looks to me like they weren't even allowed to snap some good photos and they just did it in a hurry with a shitty phone camera.

  12. That photo of the food better be an image from Google cause..... The food is really hit and miss, and I've been told it depends on the venue itself and a few guidelines given by the artist. The selection for MDNA Tour in Ottawa was amazing, definitely VIP worthy, I don't recall everything the only standout was the seafood, only because I don't eat it so I had to stick to the chicken they had. And by far the WORST I have ever experienced was Miley Cyrus' Bangerz Tour in Toronto. The selection was literally hotdogs, nothing else to go with it like a salad or anything.....hotdogs. And some girls we sat beside one was a vegan and asked for a vegan option and they said 'Oh we don't have anything like that' and wouldn't even do anything like offer her like a bag of chips or candies from the concession stand, so I felt really bad when I saw her eating a bun.

  15. Looks like official God Control mixes are coming... A Madame X remix album would be amazing but not holding my breath. If they truly are gonna release official mixes for God Control & I Don't Search I Find then I'm perfectly content. Those are the last two tracks I was hoping we'd some official mixes for to close out the album. Drownedmadonna wrote: Tracy Young remixes have just been sent to DJ´s, therefore we have to wait for I Don’t Search I Find. We learnt that there is no tentative release date yet for I Don’t Search I Find remixes, but they might come after Crave’s remixes. We also heard that God Control remixes are coming soon too.

  16. The thing is, I really love the album, and I'm very happy that she's doing most of the album tracks. What's bothering me though is that Looking For Mercy isn't there and it's one of the best tracks on the album and could've easily replaced the cover songs or the oldies, and also that her Instagram gave a completely wrong impression on the show being a concert for the hardcore fans featuring her forgotten gems like Easy Ride, Rescue Me, X-Static Process and Falling Free, yet none of those tracks made it properly to the show. Madonna's been emphasizing on the Madame X persona being a secret agent since the very first teaser of the album, yet she didn't do much to flesh her out and she could've used more songs and more set pieces to emphasize on her being an actual secret agent, changing identities and exposing cultures..etc. I can't believe how Die Another Day which is literally the song about a spy/secret agent captured and tortured till she fools them and escapes didn't make it to the show. Beautiful Killer would've also perfectly fit the show, and even Bad Girl would've been insanely good. I could easily replace Human Nature or the two covers with those. Sure it isn't my show to decide but this is just my perspective. I've heard other fans say that some fans say that some segments in the show felt awkward and unfitting and that's exactly the impression I got from the leaked material and the setlist itself. Like I feel like while the show is divided into acts, the acts sort of bleed onto one another and don't feel distinctive not to mention how the visuals are either uninspired or the songs just not fitting well with one another. I feel like the show's weakest point is the setlist. Again, I'm happy that there are more songs from Madame X because I don't just go there to listen to Vogue for the 1000th time, but the way the songs are arranged either doesn't fit one another, as well as setting the wrong expectations on Instagram.

  18. So much positive energy around here I think people really need to do some yoga today, I don't know, maybe play Has To Be in the background and you will feel so much better. Promise xx What about this? It's genius and it's saved my life countless of times! On a serious note, guys, haven't you made very clear you totally disliked the show? It's not like we don't know how to read English . Why stuck in the same dark place over and over? Move on! If you're not going to the show ALRIGHT! There're other priorities I guess aaaaand yes, the tour is expensive. Want to continue supporting Madonna? OK! Stick to the oldies and enjoy them as they are. I agree most of us all want Madonna to do/to be whatever is happening in our minds because we've been idolizing her and supporting her for so long and it's awful when we feel she *kinda* fails. However, I strongly believe that when it comes to the point it is really affecting you... just go away for a couple of days, or maybe longer and you'll eventually see that it was silly to get upset about things that are beyond our control. After all, we're just a bunch of people on the internet fighting each other about someone we don't even *know* in real life

  19. This is Madonna. If she wants to present her music taking a dump in her apartment, then fabulous. At the end of the day, it's up to her, not us. The fact she's doing such a unique show that allows fans to get up and close is pretty cool! Enjoy it for what it is, rather than what you wanted.

  20. Hey everyone! Do you find yourself liking certain Madonna songs, music videos or tours that are rarely mentioned by the majority of fans? do you think a specific popular bit of her career to be a bit overrated to you? is there a special thing you prefer in her career, looks or creations that most people don't seem to like? share your unpopular opinions! Here are mine: 1. The best Madonna album artworks are MDNA standard edition (the full body shot behind ribbed glass, in a red dress) along with Rebel Heart Deluxe Edition (with the wires) and Madame X deluxe (blond hair). 2. I prefer albums from Ray of Light until the present way more than the earlier albums, even though I still adore all her works, old and new. 3. American Life is probably the best work she's ever done after Confessions on a Dancefloor and Ray of Light 4. MDNA album is a work of art and it's hugely underrated. 5. Every tour from Drowned World and onwards is way better than the previous ones. Blond Ambition Tour is great, yes but Madonna surpassed that so many times already and it's by no means her best tour, and it's actually hugely overrated compared to her far superior recent ones. 6. I don't see the appeal in Faz Gostoso... 7. Looking For Mercy is one of the best songs she's ever made and it's not getting enough recognition. 8. Get Together is her best dance up-beat song and it's way better than Hung Up, Sorry, Ray of Light, Give It 2 Me, 4 Minutes and probably any single she released after it. 9. X-STaTIC Pro=CeSS book and exhibition are a pinnacle of her career and one of her best looks ever. 10. Unapologetic Bitch is probably the worst songs she's ever made. 11. Bad-ass and disco Madonna from Die Another Day and American Life and Confessions on a Dancefloor aesthetics is way better than the fishnets, crucifixes and bustiers from Hard Candy, Rebel Heart, Madame X and the past eras. 12. Ghosttown, Bad Girl, The Power of Goodbye, To Have and Not to Hold, Mer Girl, Easy Ride and Justify My Love are among her best tracks she’s ever made. 13. The 80s are Madonna’s most overrated decade. It has some of her best songs, yes. It’s when she made her first and most explosive moves, yes but she surpassed that in her 90s and 00s by miles, and in terms of touring, MDNA, Confessions Tour, Re-Invention Tour, Drowned World Tour and Sticky & Sweet are far better than Blond Ambition and Erotica is leagues better than Like A Prayer, True Blue, Like A Virgin and Madonna as an as an album and same applies to anything from ROL and onwards. 14. Die Another Day is her best song and music video. 15. God Control is one of the best tracks she's ever made and it should've been performed at Eurovision instead of Future and had the album launch and tour ticket sales the next day. 16. I'm tired of hearing Madonna perform oldies over and over on her tours. I'd much rather have new material and forgotten gems like Easy Ride, Bad Girl, The Power of Goodbye, Falling Free..etc. over a 10000th rendition of Vogue, Like A Prayer, La Isla Bonita or Hung Up. 17. I can’t stand 95% of her remixes or remixes in general. The only remixes that I genuinely liked as much as the album version (if not more) are Frozen (Stereo MC), What It Feels Like for a Girl (Above & Beyond), Celebration (Benny Bennasi & Akon remixes), Give It 2 Me (Paul Oakenfold) and God Control (Offer Nissim). The rest feel rather unlistenable. That's all I can remember for now, so feel free to share yours.

    Unpopular Madonna Opinions

Who’s that girl is her best movie and her worst is body of evidence i love all her tours in different ways but being a fan since ‘87 nothing compares to the cultural impact BA had on my consciousness back in 1990 and I don’t like the set list for the new tour at all sorry rescue me is one of my fave songs and I’m pissed she never did a video for it and it’s been shunted from the new tour despite being rehearsed in parts American Life , BIM and Hanky Panky are her worst singles and can’t believe she’s dug up AL for this tour ?? favourite albums are true blue and erotica and fave videos are Bad Girl , human nature, open your heart & die another day i love the artwork for MDNA album too and hate Hard Candy album cover ? i wish we had a blu ray of all her videos remastered and of course find the full Paris shows for BA and RIT i love the devil wouldn’t recognise you segment from Sticky and sweet tour I wish Madonna and all her fans the best ? i wish M would get back together with Sean too ?

  24. Without William Orbit's input on board she could've never recorded the best album of her career: Ray Of Light. Many fans dream of having her working with Pat Leonard again because of the amazing stuff they did in the past. However, does the guy still got it? I remember few of the videos on his IG working around the studio and the music was kind of dreadful. I actually love her reworked performances of Like A Virgin at the Girlie Show and MDNA Tour. It was pure art and I cannot wait to see some of it at the MX Tour next year. I don't give a damn about the Virgin Tour, Blond Ambition Tour, and Re-invention Tour getting official DVD treatment anymore. I mean, who still watches DVD anyway?

  25. I saw that post. Too bad that every time she films the musicians backstage they are always playing different music, never her songs! The fact that very often you hear the EXACT album sounds lays against real music. If you think about previous tours like Girlie Show, sounds can be similar but not identical. But of course there are also many moments when you hear the live guitars and percussions. We need a string expert to judge if the sound we hear in God Control, Dark Ballet, Frozen can be made by a string trio only. It sounds like a full string section. Francesca Dardani is Italian and has sometimes liked my comments, but I bet she wouldn't answer such a question!

  28. I won't make a long post since many already have, but I don't understand the covers, either, I think it's a bit ridiculous when you have the back catalog of the century to choose from. I also think American Life shouldn't have even been considered since she left so little room for her back catalog. I would have also left off Killers Who Are Partying and Medellin simply because Killers isn't all that great lyrically and Medellin is too much of a duet. I think she should have included What It Feels Like For a Girl (Spanish version), Joan of Arc (ballad version), Looking For Mercy, and perhaps Rain or maybe Bad Girl or an uptempo song like Open Your Heart. I think just doing snippets of her previous hits is also a disappointment. I completely understand why Rescue Me was dumped. That song requires Madonna's soulful voice, and she doesn't have the vocal stamina to perform that song night after night, but still, it would have been amazing. I'm going to one of the Chicago shows, and I am very excited to be 7 rows from the stage and I know I will enjoy the show, I just feel like the setlist wasn't really thought through.

  29. Definitely not before early 1983. Freddy was managing Michael Jackson and Billie Jean was out. Thriller album was released at the end of 1982. https://themmagazineblog.wordpress.com/2017/04/23/freddy-demann/ Picture from Japan visit in 1985: He left Maverick by 1998: https://todayinmadonnahistory.com/2017/10/15/today-in-madonna-history-october-15-1998/ A feud between the founders of Madonna’s Maverick Records, one of the most successful start-up labels of the decade, is threatening to undercut the label’s value if it goes up for sale next year. Sources said Maverick co-Chairman Freddy DeMann might leave the company before January with a buyout package worth more than $20 million. Representatives for Madonna, DeMann and Maverick minority owner Guy Oseary have been meeting regularly in Burbank to resolve the matter with senior brass at Time Warner’s Warner Music Group, which owns 50% of Maverick. None of the principals involved in the discussions would comment, but sources said Madonna and Oseary have wanted DeMann to leave for more than a year and have asked Warner to underwrite his exit. The disagreement is likely to undercut the trio’s bargaining power when its joint-venture deal with Warner runs out in July. Maverick could command as much as $200 million on the open market if Warner chooses not to exercise its option to buy the company next year, sources said. The label has generated more than $750 million in revenue since 1992 selling music by such acts as Alanis Morissette, Prodigy and Candlebox. Discord among Maverick’s principals, however, has hampered the trio’s ability to attract suitors and has given Warner the upper hand in the negotiations, sources said. Indeed, one proposal on the table calls for Warner to put up the money to finance DeMann’s exit and possibly give Madonna and Oseary a higher stake in the label in exchange for a commitment from them to extend their joint venture with Warner for five to seven years, sources said. The size of DeMann’s exit package will depend on what value the parties assign Maverick, sources said. DeMann is likely to walk away with at least $20 million to cover his 20% stake in Maverick but could be paid twice that amount before the talks conclude, sources said. DeMann is being represented in the negotiations by financier Jerry Perenchio, a longtime friend. One source said the 59-year-old DeMann is upset because he wants to sell Maverick in July and cash out, but Oseary and Madonna prefer to negotiate for a bigger stake in the company, with plans to sell in six years. Other sources, however, said DeMann is being forced out by Madonna and Oseary–who, until recently, have relied on his expertise to navigate their careers, as well as manage the record label now at the center of the dispute. Madonna and DeMann launched Maverick in 1992 as a joint venture with Warner, which put up about $10 million to finance the partnership. Initially, the company was viewed as little more than a vanity label–a bargaining chip used by Warner to sweeten its offer during contract renegotiations with Madonna, who is signed to the company as a recording artist. DeMann had pitched the label concept to Madonna, whose career he had managed since her arrival on the pop music scene in the early 1980s. He then built the label from scratch, hired its staff and even came up with the company’s name–a combination of letters culled from Madonna, Veronica (the singer’s middle name) and Frederick (his first name). One of DeMann’s first hires at Maverick was Oseary, a 19-year-old with virtually no experience in the music business who was a friend of DeMann’s daughter. DeMann took Oseary under his wing and gave him a job as Maverick’s artist and repertoire man, the employee responsible for discovering musical talent. Oseary delivered his first hit in 1993 with the Seattle rock act Candlebox, whose debut album sold 4 million copies. Oseary then came across a tape of Morissette, an unknown Canadian singer whose demo had been rejected by every major record company. He liked what he heard and played it for DeMann, who agreed to sign her to Maverick. The album eventually sold more than 28 million copies worldwide. Following Morissette’s success, Oseary’s profile rose dramatically. The young executive was rewarded with a minority stake in Maverick and tensions soon began to mount within the company, sources said. In 1996, Madonna dumped DeMann as her manager and ultimately hired Q-Prime’s Cliff Bernstein and Peter Mench to represent her. A friend of Oseary’s is said to have helped facilitate the singer’s move to Q-Prime, sources said. Within a year, representatives for Madonna and Oseary began to lobby Warner for help in financing an exit package for DeMann, sources said. Warner turned the request down last October but resumed discussions with representatives for the trio a few months ago after rumors surfaced that Sony Music might be interested in acquiring Maverick or hiring Oseary and Madonna next year to start a new label, sources said. It is unclear why Madonna, Oseary and DeMann couldn’t maintain a united front until after their Warner deal runs out in July. The dispute, however, appears to be heating up as Maverick prepares for the Nov. 3 release of Morissette’s follow-up album, one of the most widely anticipated projects of the year. During the last few weeks, executives from Warner have held meetings with Madonna’s attorney Allen Grubman, Oseary’s lawyer John Branca and DeMann’s representatives Perenchio and attorney Larry Kartiganer. While nothing has been decided, sources said the matter is expected to be resolved by the end of the year and possibly even before Morissette’s album hits the street.

  47. We only have one recording, but believe me, it's basically prerecorded. It sounds like live, because there are some new vocals, but she just sings tiny bits... When she sings live you can hear her breathe more evidently, and she tends to go out of tune, see Eurovision. For instance, Dark ballet was live, part of Crazy, LAP with the solo, the verse and the end of I rise, and of course the fado songs and the acappella. But I need to listen again. It's sad that with such great musicians and vocalists and even a full choir she decided to rely so heavily on backing tracks. Come alive could have been much more powerful!! She's been teasing us for months on IG with live musical snippets - the strings, the trumpet, the percussions, the grand piano - and then we rarely get them on stage. I keep asking myself what is the reason. This time I thought it would be different. Money? Laziness? Possible sound problems? Scarce interest in music (like her fan didn't notice?)? Insecurity? This is really her Achilles' heel... And she's been spending two years listening and praising those great musicians...
