So jealous of these LA shows, which definitely have been the best ones! I attended some in NY , but nothing compares to them, found this review from last night. “”So fucking amazing tonight. Beyond. Best LA crowd. Special night. at 10:30 there was an announcement that a problem with the projections was going to cause a late start time. 5 minutes later the same announcement. The good news is that it started at 11:05 so no one cared. We were super informed. she seemed rattled during her first verse on God Control when she’s behind the flag. She messed up the words twice and her voice was shaking a bit. i was front row center Log. At some point to my left I noticed a light to my left side of the floor by the side walkway. I thought it was odd/an open door. Then noticed it was someone signing the show for the hearing impaired. I haven’t noticed this ever before at a M show in Express Yourself she extended and did run after run and it was so great to hear her let loose. she was on fire. During the quick change - what do you call a man with a small dick? Guy Ritchie - then - not really he’s got a big dick - but that doesn’t mean he has any balls. her voice was incredible tonight .i love so much the version of Papa Don’t Preach wish we’d get a full recording just once! American Life too. She messed up the lyrics a little on the rap polaroid was loose and completely spontaneous. She took three pics and none would develop so she asked for a camera and complained she was cursed because they rushed her and she didn’t do a prayer before the show. she sat with legs open almost in a splits waiting for a new camera and sang Fever! It was that voice polaroid sold for 10,000$ and was quick. She said she didn’t want to know where he got the money - but thanked him for his generosity. He asked for a receipt. Batuka ! the two girls did the interlude solo during the Portugal banter with Gaspar she was being heckled or at least was annoyed by someone in the front row directly in front of her. Right before killers she said “we’ve got a PC Bully in the front row” lol she’s a god! Her fado song got a huge reaction as did Crazy (a highlight) fado club to Medellin is now a full on cha cha cha sing along with the audience and I love it. beer bitch was Frankie Grande was cute. He too said it was the best show he’s ever been too. They talked Arianna too. As soon as she sat down an audience member who was on the far right of the front row rushed to try to grab or touch her. He was hauled back to his seat. Crazy. Something also happened on the stairs after she kissed the dancer. Either someone grabbed her or she almost fell. The dancer didn’t have the red fan. frozen is the best performance of this tour! Frozen Come Alive Crave so amazing. Her piano was not heard for the first part of future and she took the headscarf off before singing it. after come alive she said if you are a freedom fighter.. you won’t be popular, loved or on time like a prayer was euphoric! the best song ever I rise! I love the choreography especially the end where they fall and then rise. she looked so beautiful! my friend and I both noticed a few places she wasn’t sure footed on her right leg. She was definitely favoring it. Hopefully rest now. It happened most noticeably in Extreme Occident when she is about to kick the stairs. she said multiple times LA was phenomenal and so amazing and she didn’t want to leave. Back to reality though for me. I feel so blessed and has been cool sharing with everyone i would be dead without Madonna and will always defend her. She’s the real deal. A hero in our lives! “”8 points -

I love the looks she gives when he talks about feminist reactions to her work. I am old enough to remember feminism on television before Madonna. Even at my young age I couldn't understand why feminism meant being "more like a man" to be taken seriously. Wasn't that buying into that whole notion that what men did was more important? Before Madonna I thought this and even though I agreed with what I thought "feminism" was getting at I didn't understand everything they promoted. They seemed to be celebrating anything considered masculine and looking down on anything considered feminine. When Madonna came along I was around 14 years old and I remember her being a breath of fresh air. I do not blame feminists for not getting it but they didn't. They seemed to be agreeing with thier oppressors. When you agree with your opressors and want to be more like them you are not empowered; they are still controlling you. Everyone uses masculine and feminine traits and I think the healthiest minds balance both. Speaking for the United States I think feminine traits have been beaten down to the point where we are now inundated with a toxic masculinity. Even Madonna I think has leaned masculine too much in response to treatment growing up and by the public to the point were she has lost her balance. This is why I kinda understand the feminists of the past who were simply trying to survive in an unfair unthinking society. It is very hard to be yourself when you are criticised endlessly by so many for doing just that. During Ray of Light artistically I think she was greatly exploring mental feminine traits with a touch of masculine in her art with the song Ray of Light being a pure balance of masculine and feminine. Most of the other songs lean heavily feminine mentally. Like I said befor all humans use both masculine and feminine traits. A woman can be very "masculine" and a man can be very "feminine." I think a balance is healthiest. Madonna was also good at revealing what was innocent and if people thought otherwise than they need to check thier own thoughts. She is also good at revealing what is just. I often had absolutely no idea what the latest "controversy" was about. The only controversy was my own personal one with her when she "seemed" to be leaning towards agreeing with her critics in the late 90's and early 00's. Even though disappointing I think it was motherhood and the immediate protection of her children that became more important than being true to your art. So it is not fair for me to judge that. The difference today with whatever controversy going on today is that I think a lot of her fans are agreeing with her opressors and I think that has hurt her quite a bit where she may be lashing out at her fans at times. I have heard bitterness in her music...especially in MDNA. I think she was hurt by her husband whom she "changed" for and by her fans who want to abandon her because of her age. This new album is getting back to more of what she cares about. MDNA is a good title for that particular album because it was "hurt" and "pain" that I think was the driving force that inspired Madonna to become "Madonna" in the beginning. Like the feminists in the 80's and 90's I think a lot of her fans agreeing with her opressors are just not "getting it." Back in the earlier days her fans did "get" her art and the only controversy was from the people that didn't.3 points -

I think God Control and Dark Ballet are the two strongest songs on the album but we are living in very strange times where extreme conservative thinking is posing as liberal minded with the cookie cutter art out there pushing everything that makes you think to the side. You either think completely one way or the other with no exploration of thought. Ironically it was easier for Madonna to break in when she did because even though what she talked about was considered controversial the door to be able to talk about things was open. No one went where she went...that's what was new. Singer songwriters in the 70's were talking about unconventional song themes no doubt inspired by folk singing earlier on. So more variety of thought was put into rock music as time went by. Madonna brought that and more into Pop music which was amazing. God Control is an amazing song and would have been a great first single. Madonna has to forget about trying to impress people who have made up thier minds to not be impressed by her regardless of what she offers. Just release the songs you think makes the strongest statements and hopefully society catches up.2 points -

Fever last night? Too awesome.... More reactions and a review.. From the above link: Is It A Concert? Is It Theater? No, Madonna’s Madame X Tour Is Pure Mindblowing Artistry Most of us know music legend, Madonna, is on her latest tour titled Madame X. She’s garnered headlines already because first off, this is Madonna – a sixty-one year old icon who is still actively performing, and well, she may have been late and a fan pushed a lawsuit against her tardiness. Who cares! It’s Madonna! Recently, I was one of the lucky people who were able to see her latest tour and I have so many thoughts I need to share with you. I was first blue-balled by the Madame X tour. A great friend of mine dangled the idea of being a plus one the prior night, but a friend he had took him up on the offer. I was a little bummed, knowing the price of a Madonna ticket during the holidays wasn’t necessarily in budget. I would be blindsided when the same friend, who saw the show the night before, asked if I wanted to go – he was getting tickets – again. Obviously I couldn’t pass up the offer, especially if someone is wanting to see the show again; this had to be good. The two of us would head to The Wiltern, a swanky spot in Los Angeles’ Korea Town neighborhood. Upon entering the establishment you are absolutely required to lock your phone in a secure, magnetic bag. Basically it’s like a pouch that has one of the retail stores detectors on it – and only an employee could release it for you. It’s legit unbreakable. It’s a little shocking at first. Our phones are not only probably our biggest addiction, but a comfort zone. Immediately you have to be a little insecure: I’m in my later 20s, so my phone is regularly superglued to my hand. #Triggered. After grabbing a cocktail and venturing to the restroom (which in my opinion had to of been better than a bathhouse in the ‘70s), it’s time to take your seats among the Madonna fans AKA your gay peers. We were close to the stage. It’s not a grand ballroom or the Staples Center, it’s intimate. The people around us couldn’t be more friendly. Without the lifeline of our phones, it’s bizarre to remember what it’s like meeting strangers in person is like. The fun conversations with our neighborhoods didn’t last long, because shockingly, Madonna was on time! Time to start the show… Right off the bat we are showcased a prologue of the show. Madonna tells us to basically let loose, we’re going to be uncomfortable, but at the end of the day this is art. It’s not a concert, but theater, artistry, and she’s making certain that we walk away with conversation rather than just “That was amazing!” and the like. This introduction is projected on a screen in front of the audience as “Madonna” types it out to us on a typewriter. With the punch of every letter, an African American performer is “shot” on stage – he moves with every hit of a bullet. Eventually, Madonna lights up the stage and performs her newest work but every so often treats us to an oldie that gets everyone up and dancing. It’s sensational, moving, and without question the best “concert” I’ve ever been too. Madonna takes you out of your world and introduces you into hers. It’s basically like a cult – and I was honored to drink the juice. Madonna outperforms those who she has decades of age on. She does the splits not only on the stage, but upside down in the air while hanging from a harness. It’s insane – she was doing cirque de solei! A surprise was her children who performed along side her for a song, it was a tender moment if you knew what her children look like (my friend pointed them out to me). She speaks softly to the audience often. Seriously, I felt like we were having more of a chat with Madonna than watching her perform – and she did plenty of her songs, 80% new, 20% classics. The experience is magical and worth every penny. Her message is clear throughout: This is an inclusive, diverse environment. It’s Madonna’s world and she has invited us in. It’s magical and Madonna needs to be cherished at all costs. However, there were a few scandalous moments during her performance. While the gunshots are a little alarming – seriously, there should perhaps be a warning before heading in (I didn’t see one) – she also protests against police brutality and is incredibly vocal against reigning President Donald Trump. I’m not a Trump supporter, but I’m also not a devote Liberal, so there were moments of intensity that pushed an agenda. But, this is Madonna and I knew what to expect and wasn’t going to be someone who’d walk out of the glorious performance I was watching. This is Madonna’s art and it’s a site to be seen by anyone. She’s truly the eighth World Wonder. You must see Madame X. Shout out to the guy next to us who literally passed out and convulsed on the floor. I hope it was the magic of the performance that you fainted from and not a letter of the alphabet that is used as a party drug… Writer’s Note: This is the opinion of one Instinct Magazine contributor and does not reflect the views of Instinct Magazine itself or fellow contributors. ♫ If you like it, then put a ring on it! A radio edit of the song with a little more disco could have worked.. as it is God control is not radio-friendly enough to become a hit. In fact after about half a year of listening... I think Madame X is the one of her albums with least hit material... For me Crave is the most hit sounding song....With a stunning video I think I rise could had been a good first single or maybe I don't search I find.2 points -
I absolutely agree, one of her best appearances. But let me post again the infamous Vatican speech. Incredible to think that Italian tv showed the full speech on the news for a lenght of 3 minutes!!! For the Italians the person translating in Italian sounds so funny in his dialect: Silenzio un po' de spazio vole! Se parlate se ne va!2 points

SEX for sure because it proved what she was saying was true. A woman who owned her sexuality and did it on her terms was off-putting and would be slut shamed but it would have be fine if through a man's perspective. Men and the world didn't seem to mind sexualization as women as long as they were pretty, mute beauties on magazines or controlled by men (Playboy, other works) but Madonna, brazen, bold and saying what she wanted bothered people that a woman could match men and not be apologetic about it.2 points -

I am glad she postponed it because her vocal delivery during the live performances of the Ray Of Light era was really affected and that always made me cringe. I think its the same on all releases - dont forget it wasnt filmed in HD just video ? hence the not very good quality ? seems odd that even in 2001 she wasnt that clued up on High Definition ? but then Warners still didnt acknowledge 16x9 tvs by giving us the celebration music videos in 4.3 - even the widescreen videos ? MJs history tour was filmed in HD in 1997 ?? Just another example of a fucked up home video release like all her tours :((1 point
