  7. This isn't about Eurovision or whether the Met Gala was better, vice vera. But her cover of the song is very underrated and I wish the studio version of it would leak or make its way to us. She often recieves a lot of flack for her "limited singing" but come on! Good singing isn't about how loud you can sing, how long you can hold a note but also conveying the emotions and words of the song's author or character truthfully to achieve its maximum affect. Madonna may be no powerhouse but she is a damn good singer especially on ballads. Her way of selling emotion, the fragility, tenderness and warmthm of her voice is why despite the criticism she's always been applauded for songs like "Live To Tell, Oh Father, Frozen" because she excels at it. Aside from the point, this performance was the first time we got our first glimpse of "Dark Ballet" which began the long wait for news on whether it was the first single of the upcoming record, the #magic title for the longest and wondering if it would sometime in 2018. Unfortunately, it'd be close to a year's wait before we'd even get to sample Madonna's latest offering. This performance may not be a memorable one to the public consensus but damn, she looked gorgeous with that hairstyle, the outfit (a mixture of BAT and Joan of Arc) and the staging/the arrangements and how powerful it is. I remember the day it was uploaded I was going through a difficult time and her voice in "Hallelujah" along with Olivia Newton-John's "Xanadu" gave me hope things would get better and they have thankfully. When it showed up on my YouTube suggestions, I just wanted to give it a time to shine again on this forum. Feel free to sound off your thoughts and thank you for reading this.

  8. The 2012 MDNA Tour... Elton John again laid into Madonna, branding her a “nightmare” who dresses like a “fairground stripper”. He also said she had lost her credibility as an artist and claimed her MDNA tour had been a “disaster”. The MDNA Tour created immense success at the box office and many venues were instantly sold out. It was dubbed as the highest-grossing tour of 2012 by Billboard. The tour grossed $305.2 million from 88 sold-out shows, becoming the tenth highest-grossing tour of all time and surpassing Celine Dion's Taking Chances World Tour as the second highest-grossing tour among female artists, behind Madonna's own Sticky & Sweet Tour. Madonna broke the record for occupying the top two highest-grossing female tours of all time. Madonna accepted the Top Touring Artist of the year at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards, where she grumbled about the height of her mic: "They obviously think I’m shorter than I am, I’m not happy about that." Then she removes her sunglasses, uses Will.I.Am as her gofer and the crowd just loves it. If 2012 was a year in which people wondered if Madonna still mattered, then she showed everyone just how phenomenal she really is, taking her career to new heights. So 2012 is a year I really love, with Madonna showing everyone else how it's done.

  9. I saw it in New York in September and didn’t like it. The narrative that everyone who’s criticising it hasn’t seen it is simply not true. As Alan states: it’s absolutely fine to not like absolutely everything she does. For me, yes, this is her worst tour in terms of cohesion, setlist, creativity - the lot. And I’m far from someone who is put off by a setlist that isn’t full of hits. Indeed, the Re-invention Tour is one of my least favourites. I do appreciate narrative cohesion when encountering a less-hit-heavy setlist, though, and, much like the era itself, I don’t believe the show has any. The whole story/concept of Madame X is jumbled at best and a pretentious mess at worst. With this being a theatre show, there was a real opportunity to put flesh on the bones of the concept. And they didn’t. At all. Plus, the vocoder effects throughout the entire show provide another barrier to the supposed intimacy that it was meant to encapsulate (alongside the tightly-scripted audience interactions and lack of deviance from the nightly setlist).

  10. I thought this was so emotionally stunning. She sung her heart out. So so moving and beautiful. One of best performances imo. She took it to church!

  11. I love 2010's Madonna ! It's a big fuck you in the faces of all the people that would have liked her to retire of act her age (most silly statement). I loved the Turn Up The Radio video or the Hard Candy cover for that reason alone, not to mention I loved lots of songs on each album, and the tours ! Yes, she still have passion and that sex factor !! I love that force she has, she's not giving up, just as she did in the Brits during Living For Love, she stood up and kept the fight !

  13. Let's share our favourite moments from this decade. Things that have made us proud of being a Madonna fan. Things that prove she's still got IT, even if she's older or feels less creative. Let's celebrate the unforgettable moments that have become ICONIC and memorable. And I know future generations of fans will start appreciating them. 2010: Madonna directs her second movie. How many times did she talk about directing in older interviews? She finally did it and I can't be more proud of her exploring artistic areas where she's totally inexperienced and, of course, working her ass off to make one of her dreams come true. I don't care what the critics had to say about W.E. to be honest. 2011: Madonna attends the MET Gala after... don't really know how many years but that night she looked flawless. 2012: The MDNA Tour. What can I say? Her longest tour ever, 88 live shows in total. It looked as if the Blond Ambition Tour and the Drowned World Tour had a child. AND THE re-invented CONE BRA!!! 2013: Madonna attends the EPIX premiere of the MDNA Tour video dressed like Marlene Dietrich and answers lots of fan questions! 2014: Madonna takes over Instagram. I don't know if you feel it this way... but she could read and reply to your own comments someday! 2015: Rebel Heart. Love it, hate it. When it comes to ballads, Madonna is one of the best. 2016: Woman of the Year Speech. 2017: Madonna opens kids' hospital wing in Malawi. 2018: Madonna performs at the MET GALA 2019: Welcome to the World of Madame X NOW SHARE YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENTS!

  16. The 2012 Super Bowl... Does Elton have some advice for Madonna? "Make sure you lip-sync good." Madonna's performance was the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show in history, with 114 million viewers – more than the game itself, which had 111.3 million viewers.

  17. The 2012 Golden Globes awards... "We've got a lot of competition. Madonna hasn't got a fucking chance." - Elton John But Madonna wins anyway. At the same awards ceremony giving the ultimate clapback to Ricky Gervais who introduced Madonna with the words "She's just like a virgin": "If I'm still a virgin, Ricky, why don't you come over here and do something about it. I haven't kissed a girl in a few years... on TV."

  18. I loved this decade. It had my favorite tours in it and videos like Ghosttown and Medellin. She looked absolutely beautiful. She pushed herself theatrically, cinematically, artistically, and emotionally. Great thread. Here's to Madonna and the next decade!

  19. Oh goodness, I've been burned by these anniversary and celebratory wishes from her team for so long that it's become almost masochistic to expect anything other than underwear, blankets, pillow and some framed lithograph priced for hundred of dollars. Ideally, with the anniversary of BAT, Vogue, Truth or Dare and IC, you could expect a huge project considering how Madonna has been tied to a lot of the LGBTQ community. With the show "Pose" showing her momentum and influence on bringing the dance mainstream, you could hope for a final release of the tour (regardless of the taped date) and some sort of reissue of Vogue, IC with some goodies, a Blu-Ray release of Truth or Dare with deleted scenes, etc. Knowing us, we'll get a signed Aldo Diaz collage with misshaped heads, photoshopped hair from other people and Madonnna voguing with badly added Bette Davis cartoons and graphics.

  20. I can't even rate it. The album, photo direction, the videos, the generous singles and promo singles really broke the pattern from the 3-4 singles she had been doing since Music. It was good seeing so much heart, creativity and work put into everything considering how expensive and far in advanced she had shots videos like God Control before they were planned on being released. We also got another documentary (a short one yes) that has behind the scenes of video shoots, the MX album shoot and other bits that were teased and finally explained. I would say some of my favorite moments where when she changed her Instagram profile pic to the closeup of her mouth and riding crop that drove every fan crazy and the teasing that began. It took a fan on PopJustice deciphering the missing words with the manifesto that the album was indeed called Madame X, along with the MX videos and gifs, the Spotify playlist using her song titles to spell it out, the promo video set to "Extreme Occident/Killers" that finally got us perched for a new Madonna era. So many wonderful moments!

  23. This I love that she got the girls out again and went all Dita on us. I do wish the music was as mind blowing as the Erotica era, but oh well. I never thought I'd see the day when a mid-50s Madonna would take it off again, especially not after this decade's boring stuffy Esther reincarnation: See ya 2000s! Hello 90s, er, I mean, 2010s!

  24. You realise the topic was what you LOVED about 2010s? There's half a dozen threads at any given moment here discussing everything people hate about the past decade so why contribute to this one? Just saying... Anyway. The MDNA Tour was spectacular and Rebel Heart Tour was my absolute favourite time seeing Madonna live. I feel like we got a bit of old "spunky" Madonna back in 2010s which I welcomed.

This tour is important for her to see what works and what doesn't work. And there was much great stuff besides the things that failed. I'm sure she enjoyed the well working parts - and figured out the non-working parts.

  35. The fact everyone saved most of the MX promo videos, reported back with the image of Medellin Madonna slicing an apple and how the titles spelled Madame X - hilarious since she I think used EXpress Yourself to finish it. I was impressed how that one fan did so much work finding out the font, size and spacing to somehow finish it before she posted the final thing. Can't find the image but the missing words were in red.

  41. I would love to go, I just really am priced out the market this tour because I am going to Florida in July for 2 weeks and the cost of that, is almost the same for me to go to London! I am gutted to be missing out on it, especially as it's the first one I've missed since 2001. And I do love certain songs on the album. The late starts, don't bother me too much because as a person I am usually always running late. Although I do remember once being very late to a party and quoting one of her Rebel Heart being late speeches and it didn't go down well.... So I ain't do that again. Now I just copy Blanche from the Golden Girls and say "better late than....pregnant"! I would have liked to have seen the theatre setting because I prefer indoor. One of reasons I didn't really enjoy MDNA was because it was a stadium and I really don't like stadium concerts. I do feel sorry for Madonna on this tour, she is a perfectionist and I bet all these tiny-major f**k ups that we know about must have zapped her energy and enjoyment, so for her to go out each night and do it with such gusto is amazing. I don't think the God Control opening will be a "big" statement as it was in America, and most Brits agree that they should be banned and aren't really at all familiar with Bill of Amendments etc. I just hope some department store hurries up and makes a copy of that Versace costume/cloak thing because I love that.

  42. True, the OP asked if this is her worst tour ever - in my opinion probably to say her "worst tour" is maybe harsh. Maybe how you would rate it might have been easier and my personal rating of all of her tours would be in the bottom for sure. For the reasons though I have not seen it live and have seen every tour live since 2001, I have no interest in seeing this show. I didn't like Madame X as an album, the ticket prices are ridiculous, the set list doesn't interest me. It's fine not to have to like everything she does. I enjoyed the Drowned World Tour, but I loved the Re-Invention tour so much I went to see it 4 times.

  45. Many moments, but something always gets me with Masterpiece Live MDNA Tour. Not particularly this video... it’s one that’s available lol. To me it’s a ‘moment’ of calmness and pure M within the madness of everything. Love it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ds8JDUUuTPQ

  47. Since leaving Warner... Well... My highlights would definitely be... huh, this is hard. Well, Super Bowl was impressive visually, put her back in the spotlight, felt like a triumph. A slew of amazing tracks mixed in with horrible ones. HC: "Give It 2 Me", "She's Not Me", "Incredible", "Devil", "Voices" MDNA: "I'm Addicted", "Love Spent", "Falling Free", "Best Friend" Rebel Heart: "Devil Pray", "Bitch I'm Madonna", "Joan of Arc", "Iconic", "Messiah" Looking back, I'm not happy with the videos either. Even the ones that were professionally done were mostly shallow exercises with no real substance. The video for "Ghosttown", which would arguably be her best one lately, is simply not comparable to some of her early masterpieces. It's hard when the shadow of your younger self haunts you, I guess?

  50. We got great Tours (dvd of said tours could've been better), We got great album (yeah there was weak moment on both, but there was strong moments too) and we got great music videos. Remixes of singles were not as good as they were during Music-American Life era but they were not that bad either. Overall I'm happy with what we had and I'm still a proud Rebel HEart Madonna fan. People are disapointed because they have unrealistic expectation and want a specific style of music but in the end she's going to do whatever she wants. You cannot negotiate with a pop star. The woman said it herself in IGTTYAS
