During Medellin David appeared on the stage and he escorted M to the beer chat seat - only this time it was a champagne seat. All those fans in front of the stage were a nightmare for security. It was so spontaneous that actually she invited fans to come closer to the stage. It was like a general admission show for a while and she broke the rules of security guys. I had a seat front row but some girl decided to occupy my seat - since M was in the row behind me she heard while I said to the girl: sorry, but this is my seat and the girl replied: but where should I sit? She said to this girl: sit on the floor! ? I got my seat again and it was incredible to be there so close to M. She is so beautiful. And M❌ was sooo charming yesterday.

  6. Saw her tonight for the first time, she was absolutely amazing. Loved the technical issue, because she sang two new songs we haven’t heard before accapella and the chat was even more intimate. She also danced a lot and her vocals were on point without autotune. I’m so happy I could die!

  11. With the exception of a few posts throughout these four pages, there is a fundamental lack of attention given to the primary issue here. It has less to do with Madonna changing, and more to do with the concept of fame changing post-digital revolution. Madonna's type of fame was truly exceptional for the longest time, but she aged out of the Zeitgeist when corporate interests no longer saw her preeminence as commercially useful. There was more money to be made from youth-oriented culture. Doing business with an artist of Madonna's stature would have meant profit margins for the corporate entities were diminished because she could take a larger stake herself. As the industry changed and panic kicked in regarding dwindling sales and illegal downloading, replacing artists like Madonna with green-eyed younger and more malleable acts would have been a natural shift. As it turned out, Madonna and Oseary were prescient and understood that they needed to strike while the commercial iron of touring receipts was hot, thus her 360 deal with Live Nation. Sidenote: Recording music hasn't been a valid source of income for Madonna for well over a decade; she herself decided to use her records as showcases for her live performances. She approached her creative flow as a Broadway director does. The music is the soundtrack to the show. No one seems to get this. Look at how this has become a more cynical template for less successful legacy acts who all have some type of dreadful Broadway adaptation of their back catalogs in the works. As much as it upsets many of Madonna's fans to face this truth, most of them have long stopped being a core capitalist demographic. In fact, whenever I consider Madonna's modern legacy I am more fascinated by how limited many of her fans' perspective on her evolution is. I read endless posts about how she should be promoting her music as she did Ray of Light...That she would be better off returning to Warner Bros, as if nostalgia holds some sort of commercial magic wand in an era when almost no one sells music anymore! It shows a fundamental lack of comprehension that the world itself has drastically changed over the course of Madonna's career, and the fact that her phenomenal stamina managed to give her a somewhat imperialistic hold on global pop culture for two and a half decades is unprecedented. That's enough within itself to make everything she has done since that imperial phase ended worthy of admiration and a much kinder assessment, but there is so much more to explore here. There is no doubt that the public essentially wrote her off after she returned to her raunchier persona post-divorce. One cannot deny the dismal showing of Celebration was more than a commercial embarrassment; it was a global smack in the face to the woman; age seemed to offer the world the chance to finally kick her where it hurt. I am more shocked by people's surprise at Madonna's healthy appetite for self-preservation through plastic surgery than by the results of the surgery. In an era of digital film and photography, no one can afford to show signs of obvious aging, and as one of the world's most photographed women whose career was built in great part on the promise of video as art form, it seems entirely logical that she would succumb to the pressures of the industry. Surely people aren't shocked to learn that Madonna is vain and a narcissist? Madonna explained herself most effectively during her promotion for her film W.E. I don't think many actually caught on at the time when she made parallels between herself and Wallis Simpson by describing the limiting views of the masses that prevent a public person from having more than one or two characteristics. It had long become painfully obvious that Madonna could not simultaneously and successfully be a provocative showwoman, a film director, a recording artist, an actress, a business owner, a good mother, and a human being with an evolving intellect...She therefore seemed to step back until she eventually found the best way to enable her own version of that narrative to thrive by inventing the Madame X character; an empty vessel capable of being anything she wants to be at any given fork in the road. Tears of a Clown was her first foray into meta-identity-fucking, and she knew all along that the only way forward was to leave the past and its intransigent inhabitants behind. I believe Madonna is a deconstructionist at this point in her life, fully in charge and fully self-aware. Whatever anyone else thinks of her is merely a projection of something deep within themselves. The need to denigrate her choices and their results is most probably more indicative of the audience's inability to move beyond preconceived notions and prejudice. After all, in a world of bullies, everyone is somehow still a victim. Madonna's greatest achievement is that she is a living work of art, full of contradictions and the ability to elicit the fullest emotional spectrum no matter the brush stroke.

  13. These are mostly from when I was young, and a couple from recent.... When in High School you get into a punch up with a douche bag who insulted her (around the SEX/Erotica era) When everyone in HS calls you "The Madonna kid" When your best friend who is a hardore metal head can reference any of her albums in a discussion When your mother is close to banning her very presence in the house When you save family members old clothes and try to use them to replicate Girlie Show costumes to put on a show (yeah I did that) When random co-workers you have barely spoken to ask if you knew there was a new Madonna album out When at a party a Madonna song comes on and almost everyone looks at you

Literally every song in the set has pitch correction, even Frozen and the acoustic songs... it's easy to hear if you know the sound of the stuff. but yes she's sounding terrific, best since RIT. reading all you guy's interactions with M is just brilliant. I actually wrote Grilliant then. speaking of Grills, are they still an M thing?

She sang Can't help falling in love during the technical issue at Batuka and said that they are starting so late because the theatre is too small for the equipment. Apparently she allowed people to come close to the stage and blamed a security guard who was stopping them, but not many did.

  20. Thanks. Some forget it's not just die hards attending this show either but some of the GP so not everyone is going to wait hours for the queen. Waiting during MDNA was brutal both nights with almost two hours of simply waiting there with nothing aside the opening DJ act then another hour and a half of nothing. With Rebel Heart, she started going on time and then reverted back to the late starts. If some don't mind the wait, by all means but the majority don't want to wait hours for a late show and then scramble trying to find their way home etc. I feel a lot of fans would be fine if she simply walked out, waved and then went home because she's the QuEeN!

  21. No, many people are not in bed on a saturday night but i doubt those people are waiting standing still outside in the cold for 3 hours when they have already queued for a long time before the supposed doors opening time ? Also you say "She did a full show" as if it's something extraordinary and that people should forgive her everything because she does the show people have paid her for.

  22. Same here. It hit me a couple of days after the show that -my- Madame X era is basically over. I've never longed for a tour film as much as i have with this tour though. Must be because of the lack of proper footage. So i guess we have that to look forwards to!

  37. agree Maybe not in its promotion but musically it succeeded where her previous few albums didn't. I would've liked to see more of the personas that were teased but that's separate from the album itself. Why does it have to be new? new to whom... she never did songs like Killers Who Are Partying or an experiment like Dark Ballet or Batuka. God Control is eclectic. IDSAF is supposed to be a retro type of track. Future is what Unapologetic Bitch wanted to be. I agree that I Rise is more Rebel Hearty but the production is not overdone so. I wish there had been more songs like Bitch I'm Loca on RH, that album needed more fun songs. The way this era has gone there's definitely no honeymoon phase lol. I can see myself listening to Madame X for years to come, especially after the era is over and things calm down. I'm not really in love with her at the moment so I truthfully think it is a great record.

  38. Yup, I hope so, I really do. I can accept this journey is nearer the end than the beginning, and it’s been incredible. It truly has. When it finally ends, I hope it’s on a genuine high. As difficult as this tour has been for us, it can’t feel great for her to see audience members asleep, claiming refunds, writing negative things on her instagram... I doubt she reads even half of it, but she must know it’s going on. Then there’s the injuries, the literal physical pain she’s putting herself through every night to get through this tour. She acts like she doesn’t care, but why go through all of this this unless she’s seeking approval on some level? I believe she needs our validation, even if she pretends not to. Gosh, I remember after the Confessions tour thinking, ‘it just doesn’t get any better than this’ - Hung Up had become her most successful single to date. The album was a huge success and the Confessions show was the highest grossing tour by a female artist. Great! I genuinely felt at 48 that was the pinnacle of her career and anything else would just be the cherry on top. But she really did go on to exceed my expectations, and the last 14 years have been brilliant. It would be amazing if she had another number 1 single, but I can accept she probably won’t. Madame X is a decent record, and this show is still enjoyable even if it’s not my favourite. But I feel sad to think our expectations have lowered so much, that we’re just grateful for her turning up, even if it is 3 hours late. How did we get here? I want to grab her by the shoulders, sit her down, stare her right in the eyes and say: ‘look, if you’re going to do this, do it properly or not at all. Stop taking the piss, pretending you’re better than all of us and acting like you don’t give a shit. You’re ruining everything you’ve worked so hard for, through your own conceited, selfish arrogance. Learn some humility. Show some respect. Be grateful for your success and never forget we are the ones who put you where you are.’ I’m not sure if our unfaltering loyalty is admirable or just foolish at this point, but things have got to change.

  39. I would have no issue doing it, but I would not say "HC is garbage". I don't care if she does music I don't like. My questions would be "Pharell made you cry?" "You had to chase after Diplo to get him in the studio?" What happend to you? This just isn't Madonna to me, at least professionally, and it shows through her output from that time forward. Which is why I wasn't surprised when William Orbit complained about her lack of input in MDNA. It is a feel, not the quality of her work. I can accept Madonna doing things I don't personally like, MX isn't a fave of mine, but I appreciate that it seemed she was more inspired to do this album and seemed more invested than the period between HC to RH. My issues with those is the lack of control and investment that I feel from her, and yeah that is my personal feeling not a fact. It just felt like she lost her mojo and was letting others dictate her creative output more. Neither Pharell or Diplo were worth the effort. I feel like old school Madonna would have dumped both men and found others, but she seemed almost beholden to them and put up with shiz she should've shut down straight away.

  40. To a degree that's true, especially during this album cycle, I think Madame X is a great album with a great concept but since it didn't do well commercially some people judged it harshly. However I do think that many people lost interest in her for a reason, and it's not just age. As a person, I know that she's a bit narcissistic, but I do miss the kabbalah days of a bit more kindness and introspection, and a message that came more from the heart rather than ego. To me her ego has exploded again in recent years, and while I'm not trying to tell a woman what to do or how to be, as a human being i do think that narcissism is the problem not the solution. I hope that I will still see a kinder, more open version of herself in the future, and more joyful too.

  41. She’s an aging woman who won’t go quietly in the night. She won’t do a 7 minute greatest hits medley at the billboard awards. I love the fact she can still perform a new song (in full) at an awards show without having to do 3-4 older songs with it

  44. You know you're a die hard fan when: you count anywhere from 82 to 120 and associate her eras with the count. you buy all versions of her albums to complete it. you hear the word "eye ron nick" in her voice. you know the true Bedtime Stories cover. you only listen to the CD version of Confessions. you have all the demos of Rebel Heart tracks. you've worn a red string, done yoga at least one and spoken in an English accent. you tried to mimick the voice in Batuka or similar to American Life tracks. you can finish the whole rap of American Life.

  45. There's really no excuse that's good enough for the tardiness at this point. It's not like anyone attending the show can just go hang out at a bar until the show starts. And no, not everyone in Paris is sleeping at midnight on a weekend, but let's see how this goes over on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Having sat in 4 of Madame X's audiences, the waiting and the no phone policy do make it feel slightly hostage-like. ?
