  1. i never felt Madonna was against responsible gun ownership and/or people having protection. it is ridiculous to think a high profile person would not have security who have guns. I think like most people she just wants more responsibility behind gun usage and ownership.

  2. I guess what she's trying to say is that the overall narrative keeps telling her that there's no problem with gun control and that everything is OK. There doesn't need to be change. People just keep telling her she's 'insane' for thinking that there's a pressing need for immediate change or any change at all. She says each 'new birth' reassures her that this isn't the case (whatever 'each new birth' is? a discussion, a reinvention, a thought process?) before she goes into a sort of soliloquy - cementing the fact that she is one with her thoughts, which give her the chance of 'a birth each new' (a new perspective, a different perspective, a perspective that isn't considered one with the 'people'). The 'dope' she doesn't smoke is more than likely the belief of a dangerous majority that gun control doesn't need fixing. Her own independent opinion helps her to see that there is danger with everyone thinking that there isn't and/or ignoring it blatantly. That's my take on it anyway. Always interesting to see what others think too.

  3. She's got a new album out. Female pop stars that are promoting new music celebrate pride more than we do.

  5. I really think Prince’s estate are doing a good job with these re-releases. I expected them to just dump random compilations of unreleased songs out there similar to ‘The Vault - Old Friends 4 Sale’ but they’ve actually done a good job with these repackages. I mean this is the 3rd one now and all 3 have been very comprehensive and included live concerts with them, 2 now which have never been officially released. They’ve also put virtually all his music videos on YouTube and the Piano and Microphone and Originals albums they did were both imo good. Their RSD stuff has also been good. Overall much better than what MJ fans have gotten since he died.

  6. Hi! Next August the 1st will be celebrating the 30th Anniversary of an special date: the live broadcast of Blond Ambition Tour from Barcelona. I know it's a very special date for a lot of us and I am wondering if any of the European tv channel could re-broadcast the show... I've just written to TVE, the channnel who broadcast the show live in 1990 here in Spain, but I don't know even if they are going to give me an answer... Can we do anything? Could someome write to your national tv channels?? Let's try it!!!

  9. well in America when you say "I don't smoke that dope" it means that you just don't go for that -whatever "that" may be, could be anything- , same as saying I don't drink that KoolAid or I don't believe in that; something along those lines , so yeah an analogy like the one @Gilbert mentioned

  11. The song shows Madonna's double moral: When it comes to the security of her family and herself, guns are quite acceptable for her. There are enough articles about her armed bodyguards.

  13. "People think that I'm insane" Gun supporters, avid second amendment enthusiasts and those who use the argument who say "Guns don't kill people" who argue against repeals, banning and gun control proposed legislation and use the crazy liberal/taking away my rights. The criticism people receive for it. "The only gun is in my brain" Basically, we decide to keep them in circulation and to keep perpetuating the ongoing violence going on as long as they are available, capable of stopping it but don't, thus the gun we all possess responsible for blood on our hands by not doing more. "Each new birth, it gives me hope Each new birth that possibly that person may be the one to push new reform, changes or a movement that will stick and stop the madness and carnage we witness. "That's why I don't smoke that dope" She doesn't view it as a lost cause that we should shelter, implement measures to make ourselves fearful as put by the NRA and being at the mercy of weapons but still keeping glimmers of hope that things will change and she doesn't drink the Kool-Aid. The rest is basically is a play on words of the first verses but in TL:DR fashion: People think she's insane for wanting to implement change along with others who voice the same sentiments due to loving guns, strong Constitutionalists, when it isn't impossible. We are all capable of doing the same thing but can stop it but don't. With every new person born, there's hope that this person may be the one to change things thus she doesn't give into the fearmongering pushed that gun control or limitations isn't impossible or unattainable.

  14. Yeah there’s something in that. Madonnas version of a rerelease wouldn’t be as compelling as a fan curators versions. Fans know the shit the other fans want. Madonna wants what she wants and that’s great but it doesn’t always make for a good comprehensive collection. GHV2 being the prime example. Utterly pointless collection with holes all over it. While I understand part of the logic of leaving ballads that were on Something To Remember off it still made for such an uneven collection. Her pettiness over American Pie being punished for being put on Music is peak Trolldonna. The song was a bloody smash woman. It’s called Greatest Hits Version 2 not Madonnas grudge list. Sometimes she’s the worst.

  16. I’m sure he planned it all but I personally believe it wouldn’t have been as good with his involvement. The artists tend to block certain unreleased demos and things from being included as they are perfectionists. I really think the people putting these packages together are doing a brilliant job though. Anything of this caliber for Madonna would be a dream come true.

  20. Regarding re-issues from Madonna: I read somewhere that Warner approached Madonna for a 25th anniversary box edition of Erotica, and she said yes. Unfortunately she asked for more money than they were willing to pay her, so it fell through. It's a shame, really. Deluxe editions would expose her music to new fans, please most of her old fans and it would make her millions (just imagine how much Prince's estate is cashing in on att these re-issues. SOOT isn't even out yet, and they are already working on the next deluxe) https://www.superdeluxeedition.com/interview/prince-archivist-michael-howe-talks-sde-through-sign-o-the-times-bonus-cuts/

    What's next now ?

Yes. It's too much to ask because it is absolutely breathtakingly selfish and ignorant. How could you expect an artist to be blind to the enormity of the world's turmoil when we face either social revolution or a world war? This is where you realize you should have stuck to Paula Abdul.

  25. Well Alanis is the other extreme, its all she really does. Jagged Little Pill has had more anniversary editions and re-releases than even her fans would want. And if you go see her in concert 80-90% of the songs she performs are off that one album.

  26. This is what we needed to prove that not Warner but just Madonna is to blame.

  27. Good news is she now has a blueprint of what Warner could do if she agrees to do it. This new Deluxe Edition and the one for "1999" are both AMAZING. Also, Rhino have remastered all Alanis' "Jagged Little Pill" videos in 4K for the 25th anniversary and the results are promising: They'll be releasing a new 4K video each week from today. The fact that Warner/Rhino are behind all of this is great. Maybe Madonna is ready to milk her back catalogue now that big tours are not in the pipeline at least for the next year/two years?

  32. I’m glad his music is more accessible but I know this not what he would want. His catalogue is being mined for all its worth and it’s sad. There’s compilations everywhere for him and Bowie. I pray Madonna’s is handled well when she leaves the scene. Hopefully she will leave the rights to it all to Lourdes and David. I don’t trust Rocco... to be honest.

  34. Maybe TVE could re-broadcast the show on TVE2 at midnight or later. But without the rebroadcast rights is very difficult. At least I'm sure TVE digitalized the show years ago (If I not mistaken, I've seen scenes in "Cachitos de hierro y cromo"). EDIT: YES, Express Yourself from Barcelona in "Cachitos de hierro y cromo" at 56:00 https://www.rtve.es/alacarta/videos/cachitos-de-hierro-y-cromo/cachitos-hierro-cromo-divas/5606340/

  36. then how do you explain Madonna herself making mention of some of these uploads? i believe this is a matter of someone just making crap up or maybe her "legal team" (yeah right!) was bypassed in being informed. i just dont buy it though. someone mentions her "legal team" didnt know, but who spoke to her team to know this? maybe some flunky receptionist just had no idea and stated that. but again, i think this is just made up. why someone would make this up? i have no idea, but you cant tell me she and her team didnt approve this. and of all songs, "Human Nature"? also, i dont think Spotify, Tidal and Itunes would risk a law suit in allowing some random upload of her official mixes. if she and her team have no control over what Warners does, what has stopped them from releasing a shitload of compilations, etc? no, i believe Madonna has complete control of what is being released and what is not. we all know she hasnt been too sweet on the idea of banking on her back catalog that much.
