  1. I really can't choose only one best version for every Madonna single, because I love every version and I listen to all of them... But here are some very popular and amazing remixes that sound so great! Burning Up (12" Version) Borderline (US Remix) Angel (Extended Dance Mix) Dress You Up (The 12'' Formal Mix) Papa Don't Preach (Extended Version) Open Your Heart (Extended Version) Like A Prayer (12'' Dance Mix) Like A Prayer (12'' Club Version) Express Yourself (7" Remix) Express Yourself (Video Mix) (Or the Remix/Edit Version) Keep It Together (7" Promo Remix) Keep It Together (Single Version) Keep It Together (12" Extended Mix) Deeper And Deeper (Shep's Classic 12'') Secret (Junior's Luscious Single Mix) Don't Cry For Me Argentina (Miami Mix) Nothing Really Matters (Club 69 Radio Mix) Music (Groove Armada 12" Mix) What It Feels Like For A Girl (Above & Beyond Mix) Nothing Fails (Radio Remix) (Or the Nevins Mix) Ghosttown (Offer Nissim Drama Remix) Crave (Tracy Young Dangerous Radio Edit)

  3. Anything Shep remixed is better or as good as the original, from late 90's to today I like some remixes but nothing beats the originals for me. But if a song was improoved by the remix it was Borderline. Jellybean's single mix is MILES better than the hollow, neverending album version.

  4. Why are iTunes, Spotify and every digital stores and streaming services using a scan picture as a cover art? Concretely "Something to Remember" is dirty. :S I tried to write to the label, tried to write to iTunes, tried to write to my local distributor but nobody answers me. Honestly, I didn't buy a lot of Madonna albums from iTunes just because of the cover arts. What do you think, will they change the cover arts if we start a petition or something? Scandal...

  6. In most cases the album versions or single versions are better than any remix. But there are some remixes that are as good as the album versions and must haves. Here’s some of my favourites: - Like a Prayer (Sheps Remix) - Express Yourself (Sheps Remix) - Justify My Love (Orbit Remix) - Deeper and Deeper (David’s club mix) - Secret (Junior’s Single Remix) - Bedtime Story (Orbital Mix) - Don’t cry for me Argentina (Miami Mix) - Frozen (Stereo Mc’s) - Ray of Light (Sasha’s Remix) - The Power of Goodbye (Dallas Austin) - Music (Groove Amada) - Don’t Tell Me (Tracy Young) - What it feels like for a girl (Above & Beyond) - American Life (Oakenfold) - Hollywood (Stuart Price) - 4 Minutes (Timbaland) - Give it 2 Me (Oakenfold) I would seriously recommend getting all the maxi singles at the very least especially the 90’s ones. And the 12” versions from the 80’s are also a must!

  8. Although similar, the 7" Remix of 'Express Yourself' really improves the song, adds a lot more depth and bass sound and the vocal effect is better too. Another would be the 'Edit One' mix of 'Fever'.

  9. Apparently the guy running her Spotify is the same as the one running the YouTube channel... That pretty much explains why it's poorly done.

  10. Also...I'd much rather Madonna appear on Hallucinate which is way more Confessions like than Levitating.

  11. Madonna's back catalogue: I wouldn't be surprised if in a future videography they included the LAP video version with the police cars intro (instead of church) recently posted by M on her IG:

  16. It’s always seemed clear to me that there is one particularly obvious mindset that rules Madonna’s intellectual property: legacy products hinder current projects from a commercial perspective, and distract from the her evolutionary artistic vision . I think that has always been the attitude Madonna has taken regarding retrospective releases. Add to that the simple and unfortunate fact that sales of physical and digital content have dwindled over the past decade or so, and you quickly understand why these projects never came to fruition. It’s true that it can seem like Madonna has total disregard for her commercial legacy, but as with everything, there is a paradoxical element to her reasoning, and this is something we will never be able to understand without her explaining herself and the circumstances of contractual fulfillment. The likelihood of that ever happening is practically nil as she also fiercely guards her privacy in matters related to personal and business finances. If you consider artists like Barbra Streisand who have always maintained a strong core fanbase, you can also see where the reasoning behind the withholding of rare and unreleased material comes from. Her tv specials were highly sought after and were eventually released on DVD, the favored format at the time, in 2005; that’s over 40 years into her recording career. These concerts and tv specials were then added to Netflix as part of an exclusive deal in 2018, but frustratingly removed a year later! In other words, business is far more complicated than artistry, which is why to conflate the two inevitably leads to further head scratching! It’s also worth noting that much of the fan frustration is based upon expectation and fantasy...For example, there is a specific version of the Blond Ambition Tour that they want to see released; the Paris footage from Truth or Dare. However, the product is commercially available in other formats in some markets, and has been for years in a variety of markets with different copyright laws. A quick visit to YouTube also shows that Madonna has no problem with multiple recordings of that tour being available to stream at no cost whatsoever. Whether it has anything to do with distribution rights or a lack of desire to play wack-a-mole remains to be seen. This also applies to unreleased music. When you’ve been the victim of sabotage and theft to the degree that Madonna has, is it any wonder that she doesn’t care about giving her fans “Warning Signs”?!

  17. this is so true, something which a lot of M fans can't get their heads around to

  18. I think MJ and his team have mined the most of his unreleased songs haven’t they ? All that’s missing now is a tonne of video work including a widescreen remastered Captain EO , Ghosts , his complete videography and some history concerts

  19. i get what you are saying because as fans we want everything we can get our hands on from the artist. but is it really fair to say someone like Prince and Madonna is de-servicing their legacy by not releasing things up to our individual standards? i see Prince as an artist that has a vision in how people should access his music. it is his work so he has the right to decide how people access. yes, i agree it may seem crazy to think an artist wouldnt utilize a form of media that can reach more people but i always thought of Prince more of a performance artist. he was someone who enjoyed to share his music through performance. i dont think he like to conform to the normal ways of releasing music. i think of what Tom Petty once said when he felt that he was forced to make videos in the early 80's or lose his career. he was bothered that radio artists had to now make videos. he knew he wasnt terribly attractive and was quite insecure about it all. fortunately for him, he use it to his advantage and got more creative about it, by turning his videos into these little movies. the point is; there are some artists who have a vision of how they want to present their work with Madonna, I never felt she was interested in presenting any unfinished work and that she has pretty much stuck too. since the internet, we have leaks, so we as fans can enjoy the unfinished work. what we see might be even better than what was released isn't "better" to her. i am sure if you think about it; it is a matter of Madonna knows the story behind the unfinished track. she notices some sort of flaw that we might not. i know it can be subjective, but in the end its her art so i have to respect how she prefers to present it, just like i respect how Prince wanted to present his music. neither Madonna or Prince ever seem to be that sort of artist that conforms with what the music industry expected of them. they always presented it their way.

  20. But that’s still a pretty vague response. And that was 2013. It’s now 2020. And still nothing. We’re not saying she never acknowledge it. We’re just talking about concrete statements from her mouth. Looking at the things she said in the past, it was never a “no,” just more or less a “but.” Look at what she said in her 2005 Attitude interview: There are rumors there is going to be a massive Madonna box set of DVDs and things like the Blond Ambition concert which has never come out. That we’re trying to do, eventually, somewhere down the line. And there’s the Re-Invention tour as well which was filmed separately to be released as a concert but contractual i’m not allowed to release it until after the movie’s been out a certain period. Its still rather vague.

  24. The box set was to have all albums remastered in 5.1 dvd audio (worked on by Stuart). It was going to include remixes, and unreleased songs. The release date was only ever mentioned as "end of 2003." The packaging design was going to be done by Kevin Reagan (ROL, Music, DWT, GHv2). For some reason, the release was cancelled. Most likely due to the low sales of American Life. The majority of the content on R&R was going to be included in the boxset. But you are right, Madonna isn't really "ignorant" towards her legacy. She has stated that she's open to the idea of these kind of projects. In the end, Madonna didn't plan the boxset, it wasn't her idea. She doesn't plan or work on any of these kinds of projects. It's left up for someone else to come up and plan, as it always has been in the past. As it still stands, there's no one in her team that's doing that. So as of now......, yeah.

  28. How long ago were all these plans though? 15 or more years ago? Even 2013 is not recent. And where did you get the info that it is “too expensive” to put together a box set? Did she say that?

  29. The 2 that I love are Justify my Love, Beast Within Mix, though it is so different it could almost be a different song, the whole the maxi single is great. I also love some of the LAP remixes on Remixed Prayers. I am so annoyed with most of Madonna's early remixes not being on Spotify that I have started collecting them on CD off eBay. I am discovering new ones each week. I only discovered the PSB Sorry Remix quite recently and absolutely agree, it is fantastic. I know it has often been rumoured but I would love to see them collaborate further.

  30. Yes I read. But also in my opinion if that was the case those same standard would apply to her regular releases as well. As far as I know, the box set you mentioned was a project managed and spearheaded by Carersse Henry and Madonna didn’t care much for it.
    1 point
  31. That’s so not true. most of her releases were done in a pretty basic way. It’s clear that she’s not the type of artist who cares about these luxurious box sets.

  32. Hung Up Vogue Like a Prayer ...pop classics that should be performed on every damn tour and that always get the biggest crowd reactions. I remember when all the hardcore fans demanded WTG and how the crowd eventually fell asleep during the RHT performance.

  47. i beg to differ since Immaculate Collection has become her biggest selling album to date. Like A Prayer and Vogue were her biggest selling single records at the time until Hung Up. adding to her peak, BAT was unlike anything she did before. She was in the biggest film of her career. She created this iconic dance sensation with Vogue. i agree musically in 86 and 87 her album/soundtrack/ep combined sales were through the roof. but as a whole i do feel 1990 was her peak. it was downhill from there with various resurgents.
