  4. I love this story and why Kim and her best friend chose to name a new highlighter after "Cherish".... Kim Kardashian shows off the sentimental details that went into the KKW x Allison press box...including a highlighter named after the pair's 'favorite' Madonna song Her highly anticipated collection in collaboration with longtime bestie Allison Statter for KKW Beauty is scheduled to drop on August 28. And Kim Kardashian treated fans to a 'walk through' of the KKW x Allison press box, which was drenched in a plethora of personal touches, including photos of the pair from their youth. On her Instagram Story, the 39-year-old KUWTK star revealed that one of the highlighters in the collection was named after the pair's favorite Madonna song Cherish. 'Cherish is a really special story,' began Kardashian. 'It's our favorite song. I'd say that's like OUR song together. And, you know, that's a Madonna's song.' The KKW Beauty founder went on to recall the special memory her and Allison share regarding the iconic track. 'Allison's parents had a house in Malibu and I slept over one night and on the beach we wake up in the morning and hear the song Cherish over and over. 'And we look outside and Herb Ritts is shooting Madonna on the beach in front of [Allison's] house, shooting the Cherish video,' revealed Kim. She said that her and Allison 'went outside and got to witness the entire' music video being shot. 'And at my first Met Ball, I told Madonna that story and I was so excited about it and it is so cool that I got to see my favorite song...a music video being shot for it...with my favorite person Allison,' concluded Kardashian. The KKW x Allison's sentimental PR package comes in a box shaped like an envelope that features the address of the friend duo's favorite clothing store, Camp Beverly Hills.

  8. I don’t think everyone has the same definition of Urban Music. I have always listened to Urban stuff, I am urban. I agree that she seems to have been influenced by the same style of trap and rap for a while now though, which I personally don’t like either. Taste. If it’s her cup of tea, she can knock herself out with it if she wants to. Not sure though that what we see and hear in her posts always represents everything she likes or does, there’s also lots happening off camera. I am curious to see if and who will impact her musical style with future productions. I’m ready for something else than trap/rap. (And not into squaredance-type Country either.)

  11. I don’t think you are racist. I think it was a good post to discuss and think about....especially being she listens to a lot of rap and all kinds of music we may or may not like. ...and you never know what might inspire her. Anyway, thanks for starting this post. And Hang in there. Xxx

  12. My goodness people are so over the top nowadays... relax i have just said they always listen to the same kind of boring rap music... it's like i have insulted i don't know who and i am the worst racist on earth and i don't what else crazyness... i really miss the pre social medias era where you could discuss with people without being immediately labelled as racist or bullyer or sexual abuser... i have insulted no one for god sake ! Literally i have just said they are always listening the the same kind of boring rap (implying there is much better rap out there imo) nothing more ! Good lord everything is taking so much crazy proportions nowadays.... i will not even post on that topic anymore, this is becoming surreal... close the topic, keep on insulting me of racist (if people knew who i am and my history they will lnow how ridiculous it is, but i don't even feel the need to justify myself...), delete the thread, do what you want, really i will not even go on, it is useless. Sometimes it's more intelligent to just not answer anymore...

  13. Her personal life (including the reason why she chooses to remember him as his "shitty boyfriend") is none of our business, I agree with that - yet this forum is full of topics commenting about it. Jellybean didn't remix "everything", in the credits of the first album he's credited as remixer for "Lucky Star", "Burning Up" and "Physical Attraction". Sure, he remixed the single version of "Borderline", too. As I said, it's obvious he was key in helping Madonna to achieve her debut album sound, but the producer in charge was Lucas, not him.

  14. We don't know what happened behind the scenes between them in their romantic relationship but according to some biographies he was very controlling and demanding, he wanted Madonna to settle down with him and have babies and of course that wasn't going to happen with her career taking off. Madonna has been very open about her life in the last two-three years, so maybe the "shitty boyfriend" comment was about all that? He's never badmouthed her but he's also never say no to any chance to talk about her and promote himself in countless interviews and Madonna specials. I'm not saying that is a bad thing, but we also know she doesn't exactly appreciate that. He was obviously instrumental in Madonna's early success, but not "The Guy" or "The Maker". I used to think that too before - it was Madonna's boyfriend at the time, so of course she wanted to help him and give him credit - but Reggie Lucas, the main producer of the debut album , talked about it in 2013: https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2013/07/the-vicious-competition-for-credit-over-launching-madonnas-career/277974/ I’ve refrained over the years in addressing aspects of Madonna’s career because I’m not a person who likes negative discussions. But what I will say is that in Madonna’s ascent to fame and fortune, there’s been a pretty vicious competition for credit in being involved. In other words, someone will say, “I launched Madonna.” If I talk to a lot of people today, I will say I was Madonna’s first producer. I produced six of the eight tracks on her first record. I would say nine times out of 10, their response will be, “Oh yeah, I thought Jellybean did that.” But Jellybean didn't do that. Jellybean was a remixer, and we didn’t have time to remix records. It wasn’t something that I was interested in doing. Somewhere in this process of publicists and personal relationships, somehow he came out as the guy. So this Madonna record was my first and worst introduction to the notion that you wouldn’t have a linear continuation with someone who you’ve had success with. It totally blindsided me. I understand it a little bit better now, but not really. Just for the record, one tires in a lifetime of hearing someone taking credit for something that you've done. Jellybean produced “Holiday” and he remixed a couple of tracks, but remixing tracks for radio isn’t the same thing as producing one of the major breakout pop stars of the 1980s. Now there’s Wikipedia and you'll always find these distortions in Wikipedia. My kids find this stuff and they fix it for me. [laughs] I don’t think there’s really ever been someone to clear this up. Madonna certainly hasn't helped at all. I think if it were left up to Madonna, she wouldn't talk about anybody. The bottom line is that, I think, the kind way that Madonna has always tried to refer to me is that I was just an R&B producer. There are two things that I dislike about that. First thing is, that it treats being an R&B producer as pejorative, as if it were something less than being a pop or rock producer. Second thing is, that I didn’t make an R&B record for her. I made a crossover pop record of the highest order. So the notion that she similarly dismissed me because I was just an R&B producer is offensive on multiple levels to me. It’s hurtful because I didn’t understand it. I did the same thing I always did. I came in and worked my ass off to support the artist and cast them in a good light. Everybody but her reciprocated by saying they liked the record, and let's make another one. Between her and Jellybean, they try to pretend the records I did weren’t any good. It’s almost like I was fired or something. I wasn't fired. I finished the record, I put it out, and they took it and put it out and sold a bunch of records. And everybody else ran around trying to take credit for it because it was so big that they couldn’t help themselves. I have a lot of respect for Reggie Lucas, his work on Madonna's debut is truly timeless.

  15. I definitely wouldn't mind if the movie covered only the years 1978-1984. We don't want a "gossip biopic" about Sean's violence, about Tupac, about Malawi and adoptions, about Guy Ritchie. And you can't really make a movie about the creation of her records. But the building of her career on her own is the most interesting aspect of her life, how she made it, from dancer to singer. The New York scene in that years (Warhol, Haring, Basquiat, the end of the disco era) is epic. I wonder if she saw the "Madonna and the Breakfast Club" documentary.

  26. Jellybean is Scorpio, of course he is "shitty"... but passionate, super protective, and loving. Madonna is Leo, of course she is shittier... but passionate. Passionate to gtfo from one endeavor once she's received what she wanted to get in the first place. *Astrology is BS of course LMAO* Nevertheless, Jellybean is very instrumental in the Madonna story. Thank you papi!

  27. As you know, Jellybean did a lot of work and mixes for Madonna early in her career. I was just taking a look at Wiki. It's amazing all the work he's done for other artists too. Is it me, sometimes it doesn't seem like he gets enough credit for what he’s done? So, from these Madonna songs below that he remixed and/or gave, helped with, etc., which are your favorite....and do you have other knowledge or insight on him? I love them all except for "Borderline" and "Like A Virgin" (except for her tour performances of it). "Holiday" would be my very favorite. I also love "Burning Up". I know Madonna didn't sing on Sidewalk Talk(even though it sounds like her), but, she wrote it for him and I loveeee it too. I would love to see them do something again after all of these years. "Borderline" "Burning Up" "Dress You Up" "Gambler" "Holiday" "Like a Virgin" "Lucky Star" "Material Girl" "Physical Attraction" "Spotlight"

  31. i dont get the hate for the remix's sound. Do people realise Dua is promoting a Club dance remix album of all the tracks from Future Nolstalgia??? What would be the point of just putting Madonna and Missy on the album version to promote a club remix album. its souped up from the original but thats the point. It doesnt loose the essence of the original track. just turns it up. Its totally hot!!!!! Would love to be hearing this in a club right now.

  32. I don't really care about the gossip but I would love a docu of her talking about her life. I just want to hear her talk about the beginning, like moving to NY, going to paris to dance, releasing her first album, stuff through the 80's and 90's, her talking about anything controversial, her talking about motherhood, her killing untrue rumors and such.. just a full in depth story of her life.. maybe it would be more suited for a book but I just want to see her sit and talk about EVERYTHING.

  41. I'm a fan since 1989. When I heard about a new album for 2019, I thought : "OMG I can't wait ! I want to see her in 5 shows in Europe !" I was excited. Then, Medellin arrived. I was like : "Huh" ? But it was OK. But then, the album has been released,, and after 1 play, I felt depressed. I thought that this album was to encourage suicide or so. DEPRESSED ! It was the total opposite of Music, La isla Bonita, ROL, and almost the opposite of each Madonna album. Then, the tour. When I saw the 3 cities in Europe and the prices, I knew that my 5 shows plan was dead. So I planned only 1 date, which hopefully has not been cancelled. It was not Interscope fault. Of course, the lack of promo didn't helped, but the main failure was the whole era. But I think Warner won't even allow her to release such an album. And they won't let the Instagram account becoming a political room. Interscope didn't put any interest in Madonna, maybe because they knew her deal was mainly with Live Nation and huge tours. MX was supposed to be her biggest tour in the number of dates. With Warner, I guess there won't be any tour planned. So they 'll focus on Music in order to protect the back catalog. The more the new album will be good, the more the back catalog will be protected (in terms of sales).

  42. The poor promo for the last three records and her rather grumpy demeanour may largely be due to the adjustment period she had to leaving Warners, (as well as her husband). When you are somewhere for so long you tend to focus on the bad and the things that niggle you. These things may have become bigger in her head than they were. Im sure she took a lot of the things a record company like Warner, (who had had decades to build up supply, distribution, promo and relationships with other key industries for promotion), for granted. Maybe it's only when she stepped away that realised there was a lot more at stake than video budgets and single choices. She's seemed miserable at Interscope and the evolving industry and the numbers and promo show that. We know she was sorta of pushed into writing camps which she hated, and has gone back to working one on one. Maybe Guy convinced her social media as a form of promo, was the way to go and she was actually very reluctant at first. Madonna may actually hate social media. It's something I never thought she would do. She is single handedly doing most of her own promo now and prior to this Warner did everything because it's a different age. Social media can fuck with most of our mental well being and happiness so we come off it for a while. Imagine being Madonna and having that level of immediate scrutiny. When 1000 news publications around the world are writting about her that's one thing. When millions and millions of followers are in her inbox daily that's another. I'm convinced these two things have changed her....probably more than her inner circle who may just love her and wish to protect her. They may be less honest with her because they realise she has daily criticism from the whole world. We have to think about the metrics of her life and how in many ways, the media giants of old were in many ways at arms length. Now every beggar is the paparazzi with cameras and opinions. It's a lot.
