  1. I applaud her for doing the theatre show she wanted to do. I don’t think she could have pulled off Madame X in a Stadium or Arena setting. But if she plans on banging out the hits and some good beats (please Lord almighty) then I’m down. Arena.

  3. I guess her team mistook IGTTYAS for a bootleg. A fair mistake with that cover ?

  4. BIG venues all the way!!! Whoever thinks she can't fill them anymore is full of it! She is the most successful & highest grossing solo touring artist EVER! Period. That doesn't just go away so fast & easily. She has a HUGE back catalogue that would draw people no matter what if the setlists aren't full of nothing but fan favorites. If she starts doing a serious Greatest Hits Tour tho it wouldn't matter where she did it in a theatre or in an arena people would come. But the mass majority aren't going to come see a show based on one album that isn't really a success in the grand scheme of things. She could do multiple greatest hits tours over the next decade & revamp the setlists here & there & still manage to not cover half of her music. It just needs to be done right. Like the old tours. Shit do what Cher does & just stand in the middle of the stage the whole time while dancers & elephants & everything else in between do their thing around her. She doesn't have to jump rope, fly around on wires or do headstands and back bends anymore she's already done all that. Just sing the hits!!!! That's where the magic is! And do some new kick ass backdrop videos & more montage videos to focus on her legacy. That's my dream. Greatest Hits Tours all the way from here on out! Leave the promo tours & performing whole albums track by track for one-off MTV or Netflix specials. Tour around the world with hits! Just my opinion. Of course the fans will love whatever (at least I would anyway) & they would prefer theatre shows at the end of the day because that allows them to be closer to her which is evry fan's dream. But to draw the public masses - brings on the hits!!!!! And don't revamp them all. Perform original versions as much as possible!!!

  5. So the Lucky Star rumor was true: With “Levitating,” I had to make the whole thing beginning to end as if Dua were the only person on it and then we sent that to Missy and Madonna and then they hopped on it. The second verse in “Levitating” and the backing vocals were replaced by Madonna, which she recorded separately in a studio; those were sent over through her engineer, who is a real hero of mine, Mike Dean. Madonna did different variations on stuff. At one point, it broke out into “Lucky Star” for a second which was crazy. Then Missy just dropped her whole verse and sent it over with the air horn included and it was like… it’s exactly as you expect. I ended up Frankenstein-ing these three versions together, then Madonna wanted Mike Dean to mix it all down. So I basically made it and then Mike mastered it and did the mix down on it. It was a great experience. https://madonnaunderground.com/the-blessed-madonna-on-levitating-at-one-point-it-broke-out-into-lucky-star-for-a-second-which-was-crazy/

  6. I really enjoyed the theater experience and wouldn't mind her doing just that form now on. As far as I'm concerned she can just do something like the Fado section and just sing songs on her guitar or not or piano or all of it, sitting down, no need for exhausting choreos, just her voice and songs we love, for 3 hrs - living room sessions for the fans. Just a great organic band and her focus on vocals...that would be my dream at least.

  7. Her characterization of the interview has been consistently indicative of her own sense of failing to control the narrative, and losing the opportunity to delve deeper beneath the Madonna myth. I’ve personally never taken her comments as being derogatory towards Madonna. She’s acutely aware that Madonna was at an impasse in terms of her public image, and she wasn’t able to successfully navigate a rare chance to give voice to a different and surprising angle of the person behind the image. As she had studied psychology, I imagine she felt terribly inadequate for coming across as a bit of a buffoon, but that was her thing. In the end, I think she just wishes she could do another interview with the knowledge she has gained since then. I remember being pretty excited about the interview at the time, and didn’t give the dynamics much thought as Madonna just came across as her usual guarded self, but under slightly more ridiculous circumstances. Ruby did act like a total goofball, and subsequently she successfully managed to get M to let down her guard (pun intended) to a degree.

  8. Just wanted to say that... do you think that Bedtime Story Brit Awards version is better than the album version? I was watching the video today, and is so good, M's presence just make the song better, how she moves in the stage, the way she sang it... just so gorgeous!

  10. Arena is the happy medium, I believe, but I was at the London Palladium In February for Madame X, near the front of the first upper level, and I was so close to the stage it felt like I could almost touch her. So theatre has that advantage.

  12. I have become 'woke' - I always judged Madonna's success on the US Charts - and it wasn't until I objectively looked at how she performed internationally that I realized, she's done amazing even in her mid 40's and 50's! Let's look: Hollywood - UK - No. 2! How amazing! No. 5 in Canada, 16 here in Australia. Love Profusion - UK - No. 11, No. 3 in Canada and 25 here in Australia. COAD Era - all singles did really well internationally! Hard Candy Era - most singles did really well internationally and in the US - I mean GI2M - it got to No. 57 - not bad for a second single for her! Celebration - No. 3 on the UK charts, No. 5 in Canada - and it charted in the US. MDNA - that was a blip - GMAYL did well in the US but that was based on the deals at the time, but didn't fair too well internationally - and GGW was such an underrated hit! Living for Love - despite BBC 1 not playing it, it still managed to get to No. 26 on the UK charts - not bad for a female pop star at the age of 56! Medellin and Crave - Crave did better on the UK Charts at No. 51 - again, for a female pop start at 61 - with BBC 1 not playing her music - that's a great achievement! I guess my point of this, is we are really narrow minded if we continue to judge her success on just America - she's doing great internationally and continues to do great internationally! I'm guilty of it - I remember during the AL ear - I was like, gosh she's not doing well in America - she's bombed. But, when I look back, she did amazing, I mean, Hollywood - No.. 2 on the UK Charts - how amazing! If we want her to do well in America - those fans living in America need to stream the fuck outta her - I can't remember which song it was, but a recent one, that charted, it had something like 56 million unique streams in a week! Peace and love!

  13. The Theater experience for Madame X was incredible. Its the first tour that I attended three different nights at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles. An intimate experience with an incredible icon like Madonna is worth its weight in pennies. But, the Arena or Stadium would increase the energy levels from the crowd, which fuels Madonna as a performer. The last night i saw Madonna at the Wiltern I sat 2nd row. I was drinking my whiskey mules all night so I felt great. I danced hard and cheered Madonna on all night. She looked over at me and smiled on several occasions. I know she feeds on that support.

  14. The Bigger the better! Bigger venues also mean less physically demanding performances. She needs a Greatest Hits album with a smash hit, a spectacular video, and she can fill the biggest stadiums if she gives the audience all hits, disco, some ballads, vogueing, a little bit of Dita, colorful escapism and a great dance troupe that can do most of the choreography for her. France's live star #1 Mylene Farmer, for example, can't dance very well, but her shows are epic because she passes on the hardest dance moves to her dance troupe and focuses on some effective basic moves - and first on singing. Madonna should finally do the same - first of all the audience comes for her hits and an amazing show - but not to see her ruin her body in complicated choreographies.

  15. The world should also see what she has been through, time and time again. She needs the public to be able to relate to her, and I think the general public needs to be reminded of her important impacts on society. She hasn’t reached legendary status without reason. I hope they do this well.

  16. Something tells me the positive reaction to her Billboard speech is inspiring this a bit. So I could see her focusing on the backlashes she's received for Erotica/SEX/Like a Prayer/Papa Don't Preach as well as her rape, losing friends to AIDS... gosh this sounds like a tragedy.

  18. I am a theatre person, I hated the long queues outside the venues, but I have to say the MXT experience didn't work as I hoped. Really close but too expensive and extremely cold. That's why I voted for arenas, but I'll go to places where you can buy a seat and then stand when the show begins.

  19. I think it was Greta Walls. Either way, they're both not happening. PLEASE don't let her be the one to direct it - not only would it be bias AF but it would be extremely messy and no one would take it seriously. David Fincher would be a wise choice as he's an acclaimed director and has a history of working with Madonna.

  20. idk really... at first i though the theatre thing was waaaay too weird for me but after seeing what she was able to pull it off (and i say this based of the videos that ive seen + the footage of her instagram and the preview of the madame x tour film) i think i'm down with whatever she decides to do!

  21. Bedtime Story does feel the weirdest because it was written by Bjork. And Bjork has a very distinctive style that was interesting for Madonna to collaborate with. I think Erotica may have been weird for Madonna herself Madonna’s original version of Erotica, titled "You Thrill Me" made it apparent that She is not in her own shoes when she represents the final version of Erotica. With the first version"You Thrill me", Madonna writes about respect for our differences, loving someone and her longing for someone. A very submissive, feminine approach. The final version of Erotica created the character Dita, who is a dominatrix, who talks more about sex rather than love. We know Madonna is not necessarily the character she creates.

  23. Yeah, it's almost as if Ruby thought she could charm Madonna and they would become best friends or something? I don't think her negative reaction to the interview has anything to do with Madonna, it's all her own insecurities.

  24. Seems like she deciced to direct another movie about a young girl who wanted to be a dancer but became the most successful female singer of all time.

  25. I think her disappointment is that the interview didn’t go as she planned it. Madonna held the power. So to her that was a failure. But in reality as far as Madonna interviews go it’s one of the better ones of that period. Back then Madonna was notorious for being difficult to interview especially with female interviewers. It was only really the people she knew/liked that got good interviews out of her (Molly Meldrum, Kurt Loader.)

  27. Dua Lupa on Madonna from Grammy.com.... How did you manage to get Madonna on the "Levitating" remix? It was very much a manifestation thing. I was thinking out loud. I was just talking with my manager and I was like, "You know who would sound really good on this? Madonna." And he said, "You know, we could try. We could send it to her and see if she likes it." She responded and she was so down. I was over the moon. I couldn't believe that she wanted to do this record with me. I'm such a fan. It was really exciting.

  28. It's crazy how we cannot express anything nowadays on the web without immediately being taken out of proportions... in the end all is now tolarated is "i love it, it's beautiful, great, how amazing, ...." other than that you cannot express anything else or it will lead to a psychologucal analysis of your state of mind and bla bla bla... if things go on like this i think in two years from now discussions forums will be prohibited and forbidden on the net because of narrow minded people of this new generation who label everything... ten years ago we were able to discuss everything on forums, positive or negative, now before saying anything wich is not "wow amazing, brilliant" you hesitate because it will create an out of proportion reaction... behind all those so called "good attentions" of people playing the psychological internet police in the end it brings out the worst...

  30. I hope so too. I think the biggest problem will be to condense it into a two hour movie because she has done so many things. It will be hard to pick what to include and what to leave out.

  43. I totally agree with you. I have no idea why Madonna has let her legacy just fade away, or she can't be bothered anymore. It's such a shame, as she was so inspiring for me back in the day, now she just seems like a caricature of herself. She needs to get her act together.

    Madame X Tour DVD

It won’t be four years Til her next record. I expect something late next year early 2022. With this huge gap in Her schedule for Covid she’ll be eager to get in with things and the house will feel much quieter when the kids are back to school / homeschooling. The script will be one thing but even just going back through her career will trigger memories or she’ll see ideas she forgot about in the diaries. I can imagine her actually doing a record about her life journey. Her version of a greatest hits if you will. Madame X DVD November Like a Prayer box set in March 2021 Year of Spotify releases Some sort of collection at Xmas 2021 New album March 2022 Tour summer 2022 Everybody 40th career anniversary winter 2022 debut 40th anniversary 2023

    Madame X Tour DVD

Like the previous live dvds, this release will have to fill the probably long (4 years) gap between Madame X and the next record, it's her interest to delay it as much as she can. In the meantime some fans will be gone before it happens... this self-destructive strategy has already been killing her fanbase and reducing her actual relevance.

  48. And I'll remind you all that Madonna herself is still constantly being accused (by that Aisha lunatic you may know of) of commissioning and committing sex assault and having commissioned attempted murder... If all accusers are to be automatically believed no matter what, Aisha should be believed. Some are even accusing Madonna of drinking adrenochrome... lol Should we believe them too?! @PaperFaces @Mister_Pop@PWCCA@vasili@poodle @Voguerista

  50. It's more than that. Madonna took Warner for granted sometimes and Warner perhaps underappreciated Madonna, too. There were well documented struggles with Maverick, which was her venture, and she no doubt bankrolled quite a lot of warners company. We can now painfully identify what she gave up a dozen years ago, but we now know that the music industry has shifted more toward the live experience (and away from the music) in the course of those years. The fact that Madonna went with the company whose priority was in the live performance aspect (Live Nation) shows that she knew the way to succeed as an artist in the current environment. And there’s something to be said, too, about the breach of the agreement, it was a 360 deal, and they promised her the music distribution channel, which they ultimately failed to deliver, as they outsourced that bit (and never measured up for her, because Interscope had no real incentive to deploy their full arsenal of resources for her) Not saying she made “the best” decision, and i'm also not saying her recording career hasn’t suffered loss owing to that choice. But we also wouldn’t know what touring would have looked like for her if she had stayed at Warner — it’s possible she may not have been able to do all she wanted on stage, to the quality and scale she wanted to, had she not had the Live Nation resources. Who can say at this point apart from the woman herself? The only question I want answered now is, can she recover any lost ground in terms of the legacy/back catalogue now? It is clear the charts/hits-chasing will end — perhaps she'll get one more lightning strike, but unlikely. Hopefully she can continue to create what she wants in the future and still celebrate the beloved projects of the past which fans would love to revisit (or fully discover for the first time, in some cases). Having some maxi singles uploaded to streaming is a step in the right direction
