  1. Unfortunately it is NO LONGER about the music. Why, Just Why? You know what, I'm Going to rant for a minute. Give the fans what we want. This pisses me off so much. Her whole team need to go. Guys time is up. How many simple and useless mistakes has he made? I've lost count. The fans can do a better job with her whole entire catalog. The upscales on here are professional quality and the record company or her can't even give us a remaster. Celebration was another useless disaster, Especially the DVD. Simple stupid errors on the CD from Erotica, Cherish and Music. Some of those tracks sound worse than other copies we already have. I don't believe they were ever Remastered from the Originals, That was some Bullshit marketing. I hated the Packaging as well it looked so cheap. They couldn't even get the songwriting credits right. ?‍♂️ Give US SOMETHING. how hard would it have been to just Upscale those 2 bonus performance's from Truth or Dare of Hanky Panky & Like a Prayer? They exist I had them On VHS. Sony just did a fantastic upscale of Mariah's Daydream concert from 1996, So there is NO REASON it can't be done. The Confessions tour already exists in HD, How hard is it to throw it on Itunes? Easy Money. All the tours should be in HD. Find that bloody Blonde ambition Tour Paris Concert and scan the negs for a HD Release. Re-Invention was shot on Film in Paris again, Where is that? Besides Don't Tell Me A Secret, They have it. Give us some Digital Eps of at least the 38 Top Ten Singles with all the remixes. Surely its not that hard.? Ok, Im Done.

  2. To promote it with "Killers" is shameful. She can record a new version and add it to the limited edition: I will be poor if I buy Madame X perfume

  4. You know, if she’s trying to spread her brand and make more money, releasing that Like A Prayer boxed set would make more sense. She herself said : « It’s always been about the music. » That bottle of eau de toilette begs to differ.

  5. Not more Madame X rubbish, I'm so fed up of it, I don't get it. It's been going on longer than coronavirus.

  6. she pisses me off. What is the point of this project. She's fucking rich. She doesn't need the minor profit of 400 bottles of perfume will bring her. It's totally ridiculous. It may not even be profitable between the cost of development and the packaging (even if it's horrible). These projects are so ridiculous. If only no one would buy this shit! It would calm her down

  8. I’ll pass. It’s not just about price, I’d happily pay twice as much for a Louis Vuitton. But what is this? How much lower can her standards for design and packaging go? I thought her single artworks were rock bottom, but this is a new low. It’s not that I can’t afford this, it’s that I refuse to pay for low quality product just because it has my favorite artist’s name on it. They’re probably making it a limited edition of 400 knowing damn well they can’t even sell a 1000 or this.

  10. There were issues between Warner and her at the time and it was her way to "punish" them (and sabotage her own project in the process). Warner Europe made her include "American Pie" on the International edition of "Music", but she didn't want to. It made sense cause it had been a huge hit (#1 in UK) but creatively she was against doing that. Later, Warner wanted to release "Amazing" as the 4th single of "Music" but she wanted "Impressive Instant". Warner refused and she refused to make a video for "Amazing" and even took it out from the Drowned World Tour set list, so they couldn't use a live performance video. Besides, she had been non-stop for four years and was really tired. After the DWT she left to shoot "Swept Away" and just left the project in Warner's hands. Warner did quite a good job with it. With no new songs and no promo from her (but a couple of interviews), "GHV2" sold 7 million copies worldwide. The promo only "GHV2 Megamix" was great, I guess it couldn't be commercially released for copyright issues/whatever but it was amazing, and the video montage too.

  11. frankly with this climate, I’m cheap. I live in Canada and that price is triple the amount here (not really but it feels like it). Nobody, absolutely nobody demanded for this. So it just boggles me as to how this came out all of a sudden. And as for the bottle... it’s the most generic casing out there. She’s consumed a little too much of those Rose’ wines she’s been sipping.

  13. I've never purchased any of her non-music related products, and I'm not starting now. I know that celebrities have to make money somehow and that times are tough since they need to find alternate sources of income because of COVID, but $250 for perfume is effing ridiculous.

  14. Every other pop star has affordable perfume that fans can covet to their hearts desire but she's out here selling $250 bottle of a 100ml perfume, Queen of Pop is the only one who can afford her own merch, love her but i'll pass

  16. So proud of Madonna and still being at the top of this list. It says a lot about her legendary status imo... Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Madonna & More Make Forbes' Richest Self-Made Women List Forbes compiled its annual list of America's richest self-made entrepreneurs, and a number of music superstars made the cut. Coming in at number 33 is Rihanna, who made the list for the first time with a net worth of $600 million, calculated using stock prices from September 11, 2020. According to Forbes, her cosmetics line Fenty Beauty had over $600 million in sales in 2019, while her Savage x Fenty lingerie line raised $50 million from investors. Lastly, RiRi's charitable Clara Lionel Foundation raised $22.5 million for COVID-19 relief. Other female musicians on the list included Madonna ($550 million), Celine Dion ($455 million), Beyoncé ($420 million), Barbra Streisand ($400 million), Taylor Swift ($365 million), Lady Gaga ($150 million) and Jennifer Lopez ($150 million).

  21. alternartive sources of income? Like if she needed. Thought for celebrities? Imagine for common people... I bet that a the chinese store just around the corner there is a perfume with better packing, fragrance...and cheaper. Madame X is definitly not cheap and chiq Of course nobody is forcing us to buy this thing, but it doesnt mean we cant speak about it and give an opinion. And for it just a word: ridiculous. She is getting low in many levels. Nobody really needs things like this, even those that can afford it... I'm not "angry" because I cant afford it. I didnt bought Truth or dare and wouldnt be buying this one too. To me it's just ridiculous putting out something so overpriced, especially in a time like this. And in any other time it's outrageous too. People dont need these things! I thought she was a perfectionist...but definitly she isn't. The design of it. ..Jesus, a piece of paper used to wipe my ass would look better than this..Actually it would be avant~garde! lol Still want to release something so expensive...she could have put some effort about the packing...at least. Agree, Exactly! and I think if people smell this shit they will get killed... Exactly.

  22. I understand (and share) your point of view but it's all business in the end. Surely there is an comunication issue in how her team handles everything right now but she's always been like this: practical. Personally, while I don't share it or enjoy it, just like all the MDNA Skin, gyms, etc. ventures, I don't mind it? I mean, you can easily ignore it. Most popstars have all kinds of brands: clothes, perfumes, make up... Madonna only started doing those after her divorce to get her money back (so blame Guy Ritchie? ). Until 2012 she only did H&M, Motorola, GAP, Max Factor, Pepsi (ahem)... and those few random Japanese commercials in the late 80s and early/mid 90s. That's not a lot for 25 years of mega-stardom.

  24. She was asked by Jo Whiley in 2001 why there were no new songs and she said "I'm saving them for my next album." She also said it was a 'greatest hits' and it would be presumptuous to assume a new song would become a "hit." I think her interest in GHV2 was minimal at best, although she did sarcastically promote it during her speech at the Tate awards.

  25. I get the impression she’s been slowly dismantling the idea of her that she so carefully crafted in the beginning of her career. I think she expected to even fade away as an effect. But we remained interested... and now we are in this place where we get the actual human, as eccentric as her life is, in its raw form... and that in itself is just as intriguing and such a contrast to every other star still trying to prove that they are indeed a star and interesting

  26. I don't get it either... why now? It would've made slightly more sense to release it last year, surely? I almost kinda fell for the MDNA Skin rose mist... but this one? Even the bottle looks looks hideous. Reminds me of those cheap Playboy colognes which are usually on sale every Xmas at pharmacies LOL. More worryingly though is the awful b&w photo they used to promote it... I mean, what happened to the woman who used to give us amazing photoshoots? Why is she so lazy sometimes? The initial bathtub MDNA Skin promo videos, the Bitch I'm Madonna single cover and this are up there in the category of lazy/trashy/"don't u ever do that again" promo. I hope she makes more of an effort with the MX Tour dvd/blu-ray/streaming release.

    GHV2 Question

Just rumours: During the months prior to the release there was a lot of speculation about the tracklisting. Rumour had it that the album would contain two new tracks. For a short while, the titles 'Veronica Electronica' and 'Sex Makes The World Go Round', but these rumours were obviously false, as the first title referred to an abandoned remix project of Madonna and William Orbit, while the latter seems to be a parody of 1986's Love Makes The World Go Round. Later it was said that the new tracks would be live versions of Holiday and Music, but that also was later denied. For a while Amazon displayed different tracklistings for the UK and Japan (including an unknown bonustrack), but this also seemed untrue. https://www.mad-eyes.net/music/ghv2/ A live promo video montage of "Holiday" was released to promote the "Drowned World Tour" VHS/DVD release: https://todayinmadonnahistory.com/2014/02/12/today-in-madonna-history-february-12-2002/ I remember the "Veronica Electronica" and "Sex Makes The World Go Round" rumours. To be fair, the "GHV2" tracklist was not bad... I know some people hated it at the time but it works and the remastering is subtle and GOOD. Its sounds much, much better than "Celebration". But a new song or even the megamix wouldn't have hurt.

  37. This was the smartest decision on M's part. While Amazing is a good song,it sounds way too much like Beautiful Stranger and the comparisons would have been immediately drawn to those songs had it been released as a single. She dodged a bullet honestly.

  38. How exactly does this affect anyone's life? Is anyone forcing you to fork our the money for this or are some people upset because it's a Madonna product they'd like to have but can't afford? It's business in the end. Do you think Rihanna became world's richest female musician because of her record sales? I think not. This faux outrage circle jerk that happens every time Madonna lifts a finger these days is exasperating as it is baffling. I understand 2020 has been a wild ride but to display this level of anger over a celebrity releasing another overpriced product would surely be an indication that one's life and priorities are in dire need or re-examination.

  39. She didn’t want to release GHV2 in the first place, I think the whole project was pretty much put together by Warner. She made up some lame excuse about how if she had recorded new material it might not become a “greatest hit”.

  45. I totally agree. It’s too expensive, probably won’t reflect the quality for the price compared to similarly priced perfumes from big names like LV, Chanel, Tom Ford and the likes, nobody even wanted this, and it’s terribly packaged and promoted with a horrendous image. Theres literally nothing good about this and I’m the type that pre-orders every edition of an album but this is a BIG NO from me. She could’ve made far far more money from re-releasing LAP or Celebration box sets or some color/splatter vinyls for her past albums, but no they had to make something nobody cares in the cheapest quality possible.

  46. Yes, there are few off posts but most of her posts are not that weird. A lot of it is just her kids dancing. Some people are just looking for something to be offended by and after all these years don’t get her sense of humor. I love the compilation of the MTV interviews she posted.

  47. Mer Girl: it’s dark, haunting and very introspective especially towards the end when she talks about death, decay and the ground giving way beneath her. Paradise (Not For Me): while lyrics may not be as dark as Mer Girl, it sounds otherworldly and unique. Bedtime Story: the music, the lyrics and the music video detail unconsciousness, astral projection and leaving conventional life behind towards an ethereal existence. It is almost on par with Mer Girl. Easy Ride: while the lyrics is more conventional, warm and positive than the others, the words she uses and the music makes it feel more experimental and poetic than her average songs. Batuka: not only is it a genre that she never tackled before but the whole structuring of the song feels more like an anthem, a mantra or a call to war than a usual song. Falling Free: it’s very sad and bitter song about coming to terms with separation and letting go of the need to know the reasons why. The lyrics is more poetic than usual and it’s beautiful and dark. Best Friend: especially after it was used as an interlude, it sounds dark and melancholic with emphasis on regret and the lingering pain of losing someone so significant despite all of one’s effort to pretend they don’t matter. Wash All Over Me: it’s more like a classic ballad than a “weird” song, but the lyrics makes it one of their sad songs that isn’t about a heartbreak or separation but rather accepting one’s own inevitable end. Looking for Mercy: this one’s another traditional ballad, but the lyrics feel very raw and honest. It’s like Madonna is so vulnerable here and she’s suffering, she’s sad and she’s reflecting on how she feels lonely, judged and perhaps even reflecting on her age and her current state in life. She’s far more fragile and hurt than the powerful shell she usually shows herself in. It’s dark, it’s vulnerable and heartbreaking. God Control: this one’s much more upbeat compared to the others on the list, but its structure, message, lyrics and the variations in music styles and effects make it stand out as quite the unusual track. Dark Ballet: a weird song both lyrically and sonically with unpredictable variations in musical styles. Act of Contrition: another a pretty unusual track at least in terms of musical style and structure. S.E.X.: sexy and weird in terms of structure. It doesn’t feel like a conventional song even though the lyrics is pretty common in her discography. Somehow, I prefer almost all of these songs over her the majority of her songs including her hits.
