  19. Vogue, with Madonna wearing a corset and doing yoga poses on this rising platform was just mesmerizing. For me the other highlights were Don't Tell Me, Deeper and Deeper, Express Yourself, Die Another Day, Nothing Fails and Into The Groove.

  25. Interesting. I never saw it as an aging older woman trope. Though I guess the musical does push that narrative more. The movie was really more about the death of the silent film star, and Gloria Swanson was one of the biggest of that era. King Vidor and the other silent film actors that appear also seem tragic. So I don't think the original film was sexist/mysoginist. I really think it was about a long forgotten era and the stars that were left behind. Agian the musical may have pushed the tragic older woman trope more, I don't know it well enough.

  27. Below Madonna is pictured at a Misshapes party in 2005. What a treat it had to be when she showed up unannounced and even danced.... Cocaine, Madonna and Mick Jagger top A-lister party reminiscences By Ian Mohr From cocaine with Truman Capote to a cake covered in phalluses and a spontaneous club show by Madonna, notable New Yorkers are recalling the best parties they ever attended from the time before social distancing was a thing. “One of the best parties I ever attended was a bash at George Plimpton’s townhouse on East 72nd Street. I’m guessing it was fall of ’83,” author Jay McInerney told Town & Country as one of the bon vivants the mag asked to recall their “most memorable nights on the town.” McInerney was just a grad student at the time, but, “George introduced me to William Styron, Gay Talese, and Robert Stone. I played pool with Plimpton and snorted coke with Truman Capote, who gave me writing advice and tried to hit on me.” Former Interview Magazine editor Bob Colacello told T&C: “The most extravagant party I’ve ever been to — and I’ve been to a few major ones — was Prince Johannes von Thurn und Taxis’ three-day 60th birthday bash in 1986” at a 500-room German castle. Even before the bash, “The weekend got off to a wild start,” Colacello recalled, “with an afternoon cruise down the Danube, during which a birthday cake topped by 60 marzipan phalluses was wheeled out as Mick Jagger sang ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.'” Of the festivities, he mused, “Politically correct it was not. DJ duo Misshapes — aka Leigh Lezark, and Geordon Nicol — told the mag that they were playing a party at (now-defunct) West Village hotspot Luke & Leroy, “when Madonna stopped by our party.” They added that at the time in 2005, “smartphones weren’t everywhere, social media hadn’t ruined nightlife.” Unannounced, Madge performed “Burning Up” and “Into the Groove,” then “DJ’d with her producer Stuart Price for a club with a capacity of less than 300.” Among other astonishing reminisces in the piece are when Andrew Lloyd Webber DJ’d Rick Miramontez’s annual A-list Tony after-party, and a time Bevy Smith told André Balazs and Chelsea Handler they couldn’t enter a private Château Marmont bash she hosted for Pharrell Williams. Handler snapped of Balazs, “He owns the joint,” Smith recalled. But, “I had to tell her that he might, but it was rented to us for the night. They ended up coming in, but I didn’t have a seat for them at the table. What made it really beautiful was that people didn’t want to leave. Everyone came saying they’d probably have to go early, but they didn’t. It was such a great night,” she said.

  29. She may eventually stop touring, but I don’t think she will ever bill it as a farewell tour. I find it really tacky when artists do that to cash in. And a lot of times they change their mind and do another tour which is embarrassing.

  32. I just checked and now the new pic has more than the one from may (bit you are right as soon as you can see her tits tye number of likes are flying !). So that new sexy pic is officially her biggest liked picture on instagram, and the number of like will grow again with time. It's funny how i usually find it silly giving importance to the number of like of something but i'm happy when Madonna get over 1million of likes, i mean wjat other act who started in the early 80's and who is now 62 yo gets that much attention on social medias ?!

  37. I envisage the beautiful game as aspects of Madonna's life. Celebrity, fame, the media, the patriarchy, politics. She sees them as people playing a game and she isn't even bothering to learn the rules that they're playing with because she knows how to do things her way.

  39. I'd like her career to end almost simultaneously with her life, with a last album like Blackstar by David Bowie. I can't imagine her existing without being Madonna the artist. She has such a young voice, suitable for so many genres. She could be making some exquisite last projects without having to tour or keep up with anybody else.

  41. I don't think she is directly talking about a specific person, but more so the general idea of: That there are so many people with "beautiful lives", money, power, etc. but use none of it for the greater good. I see it more of a statement about people who have risen to power through taking advantage of the less fortunate and instead of paying back to them when they're in a place of power, they abuse that role and discriminate. So really any corrupt leader, the entire Republican party in the US, and definitely Trump

  42. The way you all feel about this album is how I feel about Madame X.... MDNA had the worst single choices. I like the videos for GGW and GMAYL. The songs not so much. It also didn't help that it came 4 years deep into the most successful Madonna drag act of all time. And then W.E. More like Z.Z.z.z.z.z.z...... Don't kill me.

  43. SUNSET BOULEVARD would be the ultimate return-to-form musically and in filmic terms for Madonna. If done right and with an even greater effort than EVITA or other musical ventures she's done... it could be one of her last hurrahs - a FUCK YOU to ageism, a comeback, and a semi farewell. But she's Madonna, so...
