Am I the only one who thinks she doesn't look like herself in some of these photos? I don't think it's botched surgery, I think it's got something to do with the make-up (or lack thereof)

  8. I am watching the Cinderella movie which is available from today on Prime Video, and I didn't know it features new renditions of classics like Rhythm Nation or Somebody to love. So with great surprise I find out that the great Idina Menzel performs Material Girl. This song was also featured in Moulin Rouge and is becoming a perfect musical theatre song! I hope this helps to raise interest in Madonna for the new generations!

She looks good but she also looks tired to me. I wouldn't think that if I hadn't seen the BTS videos of the shoot. In some of the clips she just looked tired and out it. I'm used to seeing her as the Energizer bunny and now she looks the way I look when my dog wakes me up at 5 am for cookies and a water refill. And definitely not age shaming her because she's probably got 100 times the energy on the daily that I do.

  22. Well funny you say this....and i ignored the recent absurdity surrounding the title of Queen of Pop...but culturally, unlike most others, she is referenced in movies everywhere, and has been so since the 80's. whether its a quick snipe in a comedic moment in an 80's movie to Bridget Jones singalong, to Tarantino during the explanation of Like A virgin. Her name mentioned and pops up when you're least expecting it to. Now that my friends is a true legend....and one that no person alive can compare.

For me this has always been one of the weaker Madonna songs....but it worked really well together with Heartbreak city in the rebel heart tour.

The countdown would be amazing if we could make the number of days a smaller number. 7 days would be good.

  28. Pet Shop Boys produced album (with a bit of touch of Stuart Price) Basically what we were supposed to get after COADF but than someone at Warner Bros had horrible idea...

  29. Exactly... I think most of the fans are exaggerating the work of Orbit (even if I endlessly love his production on Ray of Light). Of course, he is the best thing that happened to her... in 1997/1998. But sticking with him (as the only producer) for next 2-3 albums would be disaster. He is good when other producers are involved and ideas of Orbit and others are merged together, but as a single producer he is not so creative and diverse as Mirwais, for example. Moreover, I always liked Madonna for changing producers for (almost) every album. This way she keeps surprising me constantly. Of course, this approach doesn't always pays off (Hard Candy) but she is at least trying. I cannot stand nowdays singers that sound totally the same for three albums.

The original is better anyway. Who remixed the version on STR?

It's the same vocal, but this is a good example of how production and arrangement can a make a voice sound different. It's the blend of harmonics and frequencies.

I completely disagree. As much as I love Rose and her original rendition, I think Madonna did a spectacular job. Especially at that stage of her career. While Rose’s version is more nostalgic, Madonna delivered a wide range of raw emotion and even some anger. Which gave the song a brand new spin. I think vocal training can sometimes ruin songs, especially when it comes to Madonna. For example, her very correct rendition of Don’t Cry For Me Argentina is so bland compared to Patti LuPone or Sinead O’Connor. The vocals in the Miami Mix are way more powerful…

It was recorded in 1984. The 1995 version uses the same vocal. Those reviews are wrong.

  35. William Orbit was the BEST thing that ever happened to her, thanks to him we have her most exceptional artistic songs. He should work for her on every alum for life.

  36. I don't get your point at all tbh. An acoustic hits compilation would only be "an extra", it's like (if not better than) asking for demos and extended versions, it would also be the closest thing to a STR 2.0. That's what this campaign is all about after all, celebrating her work giving us more and more of everything, but yeah you're right, let's only ask for dub versions and radio edits, that would surely put her on the map again! This! It would be a nice add to her catalogue, it would be also the most similar thing to both an MTV Unplugged live album and a Something To Remember 2.0! I don't get their bitterness tbh lol If only people here spent as much time in streaming Madame X instead of being overdramatic, the album would be certified double diamond by now

  37. To be honest I'd prefer an acoustic album with her greatest hits re-recorded than another album with rapers and latin reggaetoneros

  39. ray of light backed madonna into a musical corner with her loyal fanbase she spent her career doing pop, dance, rnb based dance, house etc etc. on ray of light she went straight european sounding pop and dance. it gave her the illusion of being different and unique towards her huge american fanbase. she followed it up with more albums more European sounding. by the time hard candy comes out, the idea of her doing american sounding pop is seen as selling out is this an unpopular opinion?

  40. True! Both sort of lose steam halfway through and just end on moot notes IMO. My opinion: She doesn't know how to sequence the tracks on her albums post Erotica properly (sans Music). It will start upbeat and then slows down and then it just ends on a downtempo or a ballad instead of sprinkling the uptempos throughout so at least she can end on a ballad and it doesn't leave the listener feeling like something is missing. Confessions is the worst because it starts so grand and fabulous and then the good drugs from the club wore off halfway through and you're still partying but it doesn't hit the same as the beginning.

  41. I only ask two things: - Catchy chorus that makes you to play the songs again, and again, and again (something like Vogue, Deeper & Deeper, Hung Up) - Music that makes you get up and dance (and it doesn't mean dance music or disco music) I don't care if the songs are disco, dance, rock, country, house, indie or whatever, but I need these two things I've requested.
