  3. That's because he is. I told many times before, the circle of people she is surrounded by are nuts. They are all leeches. They insulate her from the real world. And she feeds their head with nonsense, it's like a sick feedback loop. I had mutual friends with Guy Ritchie (a decent man by the way) and know that he couldn't take the endless circle around her anymore. It wasn't her, but the people around her. Gomes is just the latest one. Once they get lifted up in her presence, they usually fall back to earth quite hard. He has aspirations to be a fashion photographer and is kissing up to Steven Klein hard. Klein lives next to M in the Hamptons and has a studio there. Also wild parties...debauched parties. Horse love included...

  5. And also Daniel Radcliffe... on Broadway: Anyway, Steven Klein looks like a person who could do it But I agree that her circle is too much. Too many yesmen who keep her away from real world. We can see it in videos and photos. At least that's my impression. I didn't like Gomes' behaviour in MXT either. He was rude, he doesn't talk to fans like Aaron or Tony. I don't like the way he makes M look, he doesn't hold a candle to his predecessors; if it's M who wants it, well that confirms his lack of personality.

  8. Mmm... I'm not against her uploading the f**k she wants on her Instagram and with as many filters and retouching she wants (her life, her Instagram, her choice) but a collaborator talking like that to the fans... it looks extremely unprofessional.

  13. Ummm she just released an album and went on tour up until the pandemic started. And she was dealing with major health issues. She’s been doing way more than any other artist in the history of mankind for 40 years. This entitlement some fans have over her is mind boggling to me

Like all over the place tryna film her and kinda cocky about it. Like the people next to him paid thousands for those tickets…. Just seemed like why was he there the entire show.

  33. Eh...sorta. It's her worst tour, at least of the ones I've seen. But at the same time, it's always fun to see how the show was reinterpreted for TV and honestly, I don't remember that much of it anymore since it's been almost 2 years since going. On the other hand, really ready for some new content from her. Unless this film finally explains the Madame X concept, it'll be a sorta clunky end to a very clunky era.

Also, what does she need to rush the release for? All the other names probably had to because it’s their job. M is beyond needing to treat her work like work. It’s her art, and at time more a hobby. Hence her not pushing the film editing during the lockdown. If she had already released it, we’d done tore it apart and be bored this October??‍♂️

  36. The overreaction here ! Seriously come back in a few months and read what you wrote again...or in a few years. You shouldn't be spending that much time on someone especially to be so negative. Ask yourself why this triggers so much rage in you. It's unhealthy to witness. Really. Breathe and think it over. It's not that important and not that bad.

  38. I...did not expect so many negative reactions in this thread. I thought the opening sequence was brilliant. The nod to New York City, the classic "$35 dollars and a dream" story and watching all those iconic videos displayed at once in Times Square really put into context everything she has achieved in the past 40 years. It dawned on me that it will never be another megastar like Madonna and once again, it remind me of the sheer magnitude of her legacy. As for the actual appearance, I respect that she took the time out of her day to give MTV some credit. The cheering from the Gen Z crowd - that most definitely wasn't old enough to experience her peak - was almost like a victory lap. They might not know much about her career but they sure know she is a living legend. And there she is, four decades later, still dressed in typical Madonna fashion, only older and more experienced. She's no longer 'like a virgin' but a seasoned industry veteran. Not an ambitious 'lucky star' but an indisputable icon. It made me feel weirdly nostalgic and I'm so grateful to still have her around because the thought of a world without Madonna is sad. Having Cyndi in the same building only added up to the nostalgia, even when admittedly I wasn't old enough to experience the 80s. I expected most fans to recognize the cultural importance of this 40th career anniversary but instead, most comments go from off topic criticism (the quality of her music in the past 10 years) to personal attacks (divorce did a number on her, her lack of confidence, her plastic surgery) and plain offensive assumptions (she is a raging alcoholic or has a drug problem because of her Instagram posts). Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we should all be sycophants "Yasss Queen"-ing at her every move move but you know what year is it? It's 2021. Madonna is not longer a chart-topping pop star but a legacy act. She’s one of the few lucky survivors from the MTV era. From now on, physically demanding tours will be more infrequent and her brand will mostly focus on celebrating her past achievements, with only occasional new music for her niche fanbase. I think holding her up to the same standards from 15-20 years ago is not only ridiculous but unfair. Our girl is older now. Of course she will have insecurities as an ageing sex symbol in the limelight but I don’t think she has changed that much on the inside, actually. She's still provocative and polarizing. She still refuses to be what society expects her to be. She's still passionate as ever about her newest projects. And I think that ageing on her own terms will be her last powerful statement. If you think about it, her outfit looks straight out of the Erotica era and her attention-getting ways are no different than the bratty 31 year old woman from Truth Or Dare. But I guess for some fans that behavior doesn’t look as appealing now that Madonna is 63. Too much for society being more open-minded and progressive.

  39. Sorry to all the haters, but this is everything. It was a romantic love letter to the company that helped make her who she was, and who she helped become who they are. No one else BUT her should/could have opened the 40th Anniversary year VMAs. She got a standing ovation, she didn't stumble on her words.. she started over because the applause was still going. (and maybe she forgot what year it was because we all lost a damn year) She did a backwards pivot in 10 inch fuck me porn star heels so she made sure not to eat the floor. and then gave the kids what they wanted. Quite possibly the only memorable moment they would see tonight. I for one am more excited than ever of what is to come from her. It's quite obvious she doesn't take life/herself/her career as serious as some of you do. Some are saying she is trying to hard, but I see it as she doesn't give a fuck. Artists are here to disturb your ideas of how things should be.

  40. I’m sorry, I love the woman….as do all of us here. I don’t recognize who this is. Everything that was cool about Madonna is gone nowadays. She has zero confidence and tries SO hard. She looked absolutely absurd tonight. Like an overinflated balloon sex doll. I don’t get who she’s trying to appeal to. She seems so…lost. I feel really sad for her. That divorce and the aftermath ruined her.

  41. I’m annoyed the cameras weren’t on her when she took the coat off, that would have been a fun moment! It’s sad to see her lacking confidence in her delivery just reading the lines out though. Once upon a time we’d have felt so at ease with her owning that kind of situation. I know it’s terrible to think but it sort of makes me wish she wouldn’t put herself in these live moments, cause it makes her vulnerable.

  42. Let's sit down guys cause this is going to take a while and i'm about to vent a bit: I was just watching Oprah's 1998 interview and then the Live Earth performance from 2007 for the first time in years...and i was thinking about how she looked like a completely different person back then. Not just physically, but her attitude as well. I also realized...it was the last time we saw old school Madonna on stage with no major cosmetic surgery and before the drama hit her marriage, before Hard Candy, before S&S tour and before she was considered to be "following trends instead of creating them" as people say. She was just...so cool and confident on that stage! Amazing vocals, dancing 100% of the time, choreo on point. That's who i fell in love with. A lot is said about how Guy Oseary taking over changed things...and even though i agree, it's also okay to point out how this was the point Madonna as a person changed, right? Am i alone in this? What do you guys think happened at the end of that marriage that shaped Madonna to being the person she is right now? She literally went from being an english housewife that writes children books and has a british accent to excessive plastic surgery, dating boytoys, an overall less secure person than before to the point she's not even comfortable on letting her ego share a talk show with other people. I mean...her Graham Norton show appearances even from 2012 to 2019 are night and day honestly. Career wise she always progressed in terms of ideas and you could feel an artistic evolution from her first album until American Life. Re-Invention Tour and the Confessions era was her "damage control" phase and worked for her. Why? She knew she had to deliver. Thinking only about herself and her artistic growth wouldn't get her anywhere and this IS a business after all. She was still modern, but doing 70's inspired disco music and that attracted multiple generations but everyone thought she was the coolest. i remember it so well. It was also the first Madonna era i was a fan of hers. My parents loved her, i was almost 18 and loved her. My cousins weren't even 10 and loved her. How did we go from this to wearing grillz, dating boy toys, that Drake kiss, Bitch I'm Madonna phase, whatever she did at that VMA award where she told that Aretha Franklin story that went nowhere while dressed like...that. Going completely unprepared to Eurovision. How bad her vocal preparation was for that and even the BB Awards performances, and most of all...how unprofessional she became? She was going through hell during S&S in 2008 and somehow she always kept it professional. Yes she could start a show like half an hour after its initial time...but nothing major. How did we go from that stadium tour to a theater tour that couldn't be worse organized, from that lottery program, to delayed shows at the start of the tour, then each city, then cancellations 3 hours before showtime, to Madonna saying she's being censored by the UK's curfew? Like...she's been performing there since the 80's. She always did her shows because she showed up on time. How can she not realize all this? I always loved her, and i think i always will...but Madonna since Eurovision has been even harder to be...likable, even as a diehard fan. Never in a million years i ever expected Madonna to perform to an audience of over 200 million people completely unprepared like that. Is she really living in such a bubble that she doesn't realize everything bad she's doing to her career? Has she been told so many times how great she is, she actually started to believe she was? She was always great at this business because she knew her strengths and lows...which right now...she doesn't. Speaking of which...i won't even mention the fact she went on doing a stadium tour in 2012 with basically album tracks (and hits completely changed from their original versions) from an album that didn't sell 2 million copies. Just 4 years before, she did a stadium tour and of course...she did hits. You NEED to know your audience. Somehow...she doesn't anymore. And yes she was always bitchy, sometimes cocky, always had a dry and sarcastic sense of humor, that's still there to this day. But she was always a pro. A hard working pro. And we could always count on her to deliver and she was always the best at doing that. Now she can still be...after waiting for hours...in venues with no AC on, after we stressed for months over lottery programs, canceled shows, reschedules, etc. We also started to witness her victimizing herself more and more. Yes ageism exists...but you can't blame everything on sexism, ageism, etc. Look how she handled the SEX era. Watch those interviews from back then. She outsmarted everyone by being witty and confident. Now she cries on instagram. What happened? What do you guys think about all this? And please, if you're pretending "this is the same madonna as always"...let's not fool ourselves. She's a totally different person and it's okay to admit. I love her and will always. That's why this is a bit hard to witness. Even harder to see her vocals being so amazing right now. Where was all that before Eurovision? Madame X album recordings (it's clear she had no vocal training before doing this record), etc? Do you think all we need is a better team? What's next for her? What do you still expect from Madonna?

  43. What's wrong with having a toy boy at 60?! She clearly is a very sexual person and has a high sex drive, most men of her age wouldn't be able to keep up. So if she wants to go to bed with a younger handsome man leave her to it. She deserves it!! Just because she is 60 doesn't mean she has to date someone who is 60. Age is just a number, why do you care so much?

  44. People handle divorces differently. Sure, she put on a brave face but imagine the rumors that your husband is cheating and then takes a huge wad of your hard earned money that your publicist releases the amount due to the bragging from Guy's family. He's also showed his true colors in the whole Rocco situation, cropping David out of photos etc. She has mentioned many times he didn't like some of the things she did or said regarding her career so she compromised. She shrugged multiple projects, moments and seemed to have compromised with him. Sure, her work post Ray of Light was great but her marriage influenced (along with Kabbalah) a lot of her material. She toned down her image but once the divorce happened, she seemed to stopped regretting things like SEX and no longer wanted to be an English dame. The Aretha thing at the VMA's was winged because it was given to her at the last minute and she did what she could to do so. As for the outfit, well you do know she was spending time in multiple places and was showing appreciation for cultures she came across. Let's not act this is the first Madonna has done this especially in this very transparent and hypocritical SJW phase. As for the boy toys, grillz and other things, well it isn't that off radar to what she had done prior. Gold tooth, dating models and other men and stunts isn't new to Madonna. We're no one to judge her relationships as long as their legal and not harming anyone. Clearly, she doesn't think marriage is good for her and what's the harm in a partner, good sex and a good family unit for her kids. Eurovision was a mess but let's not forget she didn't deliver at BBMA's and disregard all the good she did during the HC, MDNA and RH eras where she killed performances, interviews and such. Seems to be baiting for the sake of pointing out the bad versus the majority she has given to us. I'm critical of Madonna but to say she didn't give good vocal, choreography wise performances despite her slowing down during the RHT is pretty much selling her short. Madonna has always toured new material from the very beginning. Songs were always from their supporting albums that created half the setlists or more so it's nothing new. To complain and think she's Cher or some other artist who does the same GH set for every tour is a reach. It only seemed to be GH in her early shows because those songs came from the records at the time. I don't know, you guys want Madonna to tour the same songs again and again but also want her to push her creativity and artistry - she does a mix of both. I'd rather she continue doing inspired sets rather than simply going the cliched route of trotting out Lucky Star, Holiday to people who couldn't care less unless they hear the hits and begin bashing her the very next day. Was there not criticism of how boring and uninspired songs on RHT were despite being dusted off for the public? It's the album version and not reinvented were the criticisms. I've learned the fanbase is fickle and never content. The one thing is yes, I wish Madame X had her natural voice and didn't rely on the tricks as she knows she has a good singing voice. Instagram is easy to target because it is SHE responding. Most of the time you had Liz Rosenberg and others speaking to the press and media while she handled the music, TV interview junket side. I wouldn't be surprised she responds out of anger or frustration of what she reads said about her, her looks, how irrelevant and washed up she is from people and her own fans. She's evolved and changed through the years like any human being will and does things that will either be a hit or miss as a person but that's the beauty of her. Had she done what the public always wanted and craved, you could honestly have kissed her goodbye and gone to some fair in Chicago with other 80's acts. I may not agree with her choices or artistic ventures but it's the risk she takes that has kept her relevant and afloat the music industry along with the hard work, talent and foresight. To simply diminish her decades of struggle, exploration and endurance over silly features, facelifts or whom she dates is rather an unfair criticism to the woman. What's next? Quite frankly I don't want her to go the lazy route and perform a greatest hits show simply to regain public favor that will drop once her body slows even more or god forbid health issues arise. I would rather continue seeing the Madonna I know, the one who takes risks whether they rise or go down like a lead balloon, challenging people through music, visuals, themes and subjects and continue paving the way for performers that will no longer be judged by age. I mean look at the acclaim and praise J-Lo and Shakira got! To say there aren't things that can't be improved on is untrue. I wish she'd take voice lessons to bring out her voice that shines during moments on tour, certain performances, push her in finding new talent and producers no one has worked with or are under the radar and show the fickle GP and fans alike, she's still a force to be reckoned with. There's also the truth to be faced that she is 61 years old and will be getting older and biology doesn't spare anyone. If you're expecting MDNA Tour Madonna or BAT Madonna, I would hope you realize she probably will not hit that bar again choreography wise but that doesn't mean or say she is any less of a performer. She needs a publicist like Liz again to handle bumps in the road and shoot down the rumor mills or people who come after her as flawlessly as Liz used to. It wouldn't hurt to also honor the show start time (within reason, an hour post opening act) and perhaps down the road negotiate with Warner in regards of proper reissues, DVD/BR sets of her tours, videos and remastering her work for today's standards.
