  1. Can we all agree this is one of the best backdrops she has ever done. It's sexy and classy and pure Madonna! And this reversion of Justify My Love is just brilliant! I feel like it keeps the essence and soul of the original song but in a modern way. And the amazing transition to Vogue ...LOVE ME

  2. You've pretty much abused dozens of members here for any minor imagined problem you have with their opinions. Do you expect to be adored for that by those same members? I've personally reported so many of your posts, stop presenting this as being abused for being this flower of peace and positivity and a victim. And, as @Fighter said, please find the "Edit" button, no one, and especially me, wants to see 10 ignored posts in a row.

  3. I still hope the movie is about how everything comes full circle for her. From the moment she loses her mom, to the moment she becomes a mom. I truly believe those 2 moments were her biggest moments ever. Plus losing all her friends to AIDS, etc...which happens in between. But the thought of the center part of the movie being the late 70's and 80's New York City is just amazing to me. It's such a fascinating time for good and terrible reasons...but the city seemed so alive back then. At leas from documentaries i watch. And if Basquiat, Warhol etc are cast in this...wow.

  4. I agree, and I agree with the chaotic nature of the 'shoot' - it's inconsistent, random and doesn't flow. It's a collection of random images (some really great, some shit). They also used photoshop so poorly. I am also bored with her one note 'freedom fighter' - girl, what you fighting - if you truly felt that way, why you editing your images so much.

  6. Ran to this studio version this morning! Love it, the clown laughs, the use of the remix adlibs and how it's remixed so majestically! She looks amazing in it!

  11. Spot on. It is fabulous. A perfect 'reinvention' of the song, great visuals, and that transition into Vogue is EVERYTHING.

  14. Underrated - Madame X. I honestly believe it would've been regarded as a career highlight if it were released by another artist, especially if they were younger. It's daring, experimental and overflowed with fresh ideas (almost 40 years into her career!). Which mainstream pop star would even think of fusioning music genres such as latin pop, portuguese fado, batuque, afrobeat, disco, art pop, reggaetón, trap, house, dancehall, morna, Indian music and funk in the same album? Lyrics referencing gun control, Joan Of Arc, Tchaikovsky, the Cape Verde Bakukadeiras and several marginalized groups, while singing in Spanish and Portuguese?. In my opinion, this record proves why Madonna is still miles ahead of the pack and it restored my faith in her artistry after three "fun" but derivative dance records. My only complain is that "Ciao Bella" is too good to be relegated as an obscure bonus track, as it would've fit with "I Don't Search I Find". Overrated - Like A Virgin. While it was certainly a landmark moment in pop culture, I agree that it feels deliberately calculating and manufactured to appeal to teenagers. I love the era because of its iconography - the videos, the singles, the fashion, the wannabes, the media hoopla surrounding the Madonnamania, etc. I love her shameless ambition and her wide-eyed innocence as an overnight phenomenon. However, I feel the album is missing the club edge of the first LP. It's just a bit too polished. I think adding the soundtrack hits (Into The Groove, Crazy For You and Gambler) would've elevated the record. 01. Material Girl 02. Angel 03. Like A Virgin 04. Into The Groove 05. Crazy For You 06. Dress You Up 07. Gambler 08. Pretender 09. Stay Now that's a killer tracklist. Overall, I understand why it sold bucketloads but it's nowhere near her best work, in my opinion.

  15. Your heart is in the right place, but you're just VERY intense. Let people have their opinions. Some people like some things and not others. You don't have to change their minds and Madonna doesn't need your defending. Just chill. ? There's so many people who don't like Madame X on this forum, if I tried to come for them every time I wouldn't have any fun here lol

  16. Absolutely agree. Just the end result doesn't look good in this case in my opinion.

  17. I actually quite like this photoshoot, including the outtakes. It's a shame much of the discussion is about the so called quality of photoshop, but can't photography be used as an instrument to present an image? And I do like the image that is presented to us. If painters are allowed to distort reality and are being applauded for it, then why can't photographers? Considering we are surrounded by (and influenced by) distorted reality and digital enhancement all the time, our idea of truth is constantly exposed to manipulation. Art doesn't necessarily have to imitate life, it can distort it.

  21. Most overrated..... Like a Virgin is the most overrated album as Madonna did not write many of the singles. It just does not feel like a Madonna album to me, not in the same way that Rebel Heart or Ray of Light introduces us to her most intimate and secret parts. Like a Virgin is more manufactured than any other M album. She seemed to be less in control of her art than in any other effort. Madonna's writing makes a "genuine" Madonna song/album, not just her unique pop sound. Most underrated.... Madame X... It is a brave and insanely, unique album. It sounds like nothing else that anyone had previously released and is both current and mature in the best sorts of ways. It is an album that none of her contemporaries would be able to or willing to create. MX is Madonna on top of her game once again. Madonna is trailblazing again and ignoring the trends.

With all due respect to Klein and his artistic intentions, this is what I expected from this photoshoot. It's classy and on point, from the outfits to the pieces of jewelry. Overall, IMHO, it's a hidden tribute to the entire Hollywood's Golden Era, from Mae West for the sunglasses to the couple Garbo - Dietrich for the black cigarette and the tailleur. Obviously Marilyn remains the main model and the focal point of the project. And about her, well, I have no words, she's fabulous, simply fabulous. As years pass by, she still exudes a kind of magnetism and allure that I've seen only in a bunch of Hollywood superstars, the brightest ones in that crazy universe. It's amazing, she is still amazing. I don't wanna sound whiny or boomer-ish, but I wish she looked like this way on Instagram: these photos are another evidence that, with the righ tricks and elegant outfits, beauty is ageless and current edits/filters are just a disgrace.

  28. Underrated: MDNA There is a great pop record in there among a couple of awful filler tracks and the worst single choices ever. Overrated: Madame X I'm jealous of fans who enjoyed this era. If you had told me M would spend 2 years on an era with multiple music videos, a theater tour, a new persona, and that I wouldn't connect to any of it, I would have not believed you. But here we are.

  29. Jorick Hello, you're right it's almost impossible to include the successes of 3 decades in a single CD and and two still falls well short collection. Like you I thought the same thing Edition "SUPER DELUXE EDITION" with 3 discs and still be wanting some hit singles. As for durations of CELEBRATION original album, I think sloppy boombox not represent their great eras. So I gave myself the task of editing, in order to create an album with versions agreement in time, not just cut them, if not offer unique versions for this album. I share my Artwork, my tracklist and their durations. This is just my personal opinion, we all have different favorite songs of Madonna, some more successful than others, but after all are successes. 30. When I saw her in Córdoba, Argentina, I was really excited to see this interlude live... Do you remember there was a blackout during the show? The power went off during Open Your Heart and she came back like an hour later with Vogue. I was so sad for Justify My Love

  34. In my opinion the entire madame x show is all about freedom fighting not just batuka and god control was clever and the video was great - it was not yawn ..a song about gun control is not yawn ..madonna has always used religious images in her work and this will continue - least she is a artist that likes to change things up and not do the same shit for decades

  35. I kind of co-sign what you're saying, Jackie. Madonna's "freedom fighting" for the past decade feels so shallow. Even though secretprojectrevolution kind of hit the nail in the head in terms of what was coming in America, the message was delivered through something that can be only be described as a glorified magazine editorial. Therefore the lack of impact. Preaching about billionaires while she herself having a good fraction of a billion is... well, pun intended, rich coming from her. It's just a bunch of slogans and platitudes that ring hollow. The only subversive thing she's done lately is the "Batuka" project, both song and video. It was an actual example of humanizing and owning up for the pain of the slave trade. "God Control"? Yawn. "Dark Ballet"? Wow, Madonna and religion, never saw that coming.

  36. Yes there was. It was cancelled after Batman and Robin bombed. She was supposed to play Harley but it was written she'd be Joker's daughter versus his lover. I think Scarecrow was also another villain that was going to be included. It was for the Matrix. She turned down the role of Trinity.

  43. As much as I love 90's Madonna, I have to go with the 00's in regards to my favorite decade. Some of my favorites. Wish more of her back catalog was available for streaming. They'd do great on playlists for Spotify and decades as we've seen for other artists and she had the knack for pushing the remix format - it always elevated songs to different heights even if the original album versions were already outstanding.

  44. Actually thinking about it just now, it is not a new problem, if youre old enough to remember Madonna forums from like 10+ years ago, I remember the n word with an er being directed at black people, I remember a thread about racial intelligence staying up, I remember Obama and his family being called “walking pieces of s***”, among other things. There’s always been a portion of this fandom that’s truly grotesque. We just gotta try to keep things nice over here.
