  1. Because you don't like something does not mean it's bad and the reason why following releases did not perform well (though GMAYL did). GI2M is a great track and that synth line is pure pop nostalgia. Sorry you don't like it but don't rewrite history based on your impression.

  2. No. I don't buy that one song alone can 'destroy' any future potential success. That's more so a reflection of certain fans' own biases at play regarding their own feelings about the work in question. At the time, it was most likely her situation with Warner, amongst several other things (in and out of her control). GI2M is a fantastic song, and I find it quintessentially Madonna. It deserved a better video and promotion, certainly. If Blurred Lines, which basically rips on the same sample, by the same producer, can be such a massive hit, I don't see why GI2M couldn't have had some of the same if given the proper chance.

  4. She doesn’t help herself unfortunately, instagram has taken away the mystery that was Madonna.

  5. Madonna has always been sexual. Part of her "mission" to normalise women expressing their sexuality just like men do and reclaiming their bodies as opposed to being objectified by men. It's about empowerment. This is probably her biggest legacy. Madonna doesn't care about her "reputation", because people shaming her for sex is exactly what she wants to fight for. If no one criticised her for it, she would be fighting a pointless fight or preaching to the converted. She WANTS the confrontation. She wants to make people think.

  6. She definitely has another comeback in her, and I believe they have been working on it for some time. But it won't be in 2022, more likely 2023 with a tour in 2024. And btw, Elton is not really applauded, he comes across as the most desperate, chart-hungry, has been. From hijacking the Years & Years version of It's A Sin at the Brits this year to his utterly nauseating Ed Sheeran duet, I'm not sure this is how I want Madonna to bow out for the sake of another top ten...

  7. Such an interesting word, trashy. Have u ever taken the time to understand why you consider it trashy? What exactly is trashy? Some parts of the body are covered, some are not. That goes for every outfit that people wear from the beginning of time to the end. What specifically makes something trashy? Is it trashy to be naked? Is it thigh high boots? Finger fucking yourself overtop a mirror?

  10. Jesus Christ! there are some pretty fucking stupid users I encounter on this forum. Who would ever become a Madonna fan if they had a problem with using sex as a means of art? I never did understand why sex was taboo even as a little kid, it is literally a part of nature. No different than eating food because its a need or having to use the shitter. God danmm I feel like I am living in a world of goldfish in this forum. I think there are many trolls amongst us.

  11. Oh honey... Debut album= Physical attraction (literally a song about a girl wanting to fuck) True Blue: Open your heart (the music video took place in a peep show), Papa don't preach (about pregnancy, sex is implied) Like a prayer: in the LAP music video she shows up to church in a night gown, with her boobs pushed all the way up, and makes out with a Saint (might not sound like much now but it was SCANDALOUS). She's literally naked in Express yourself and she grabs her pussy a lot Bedtime stories: the Human Nature music video featured Madonna as a dominatrix and in Take a bow she basically fucked a TV. Evita: a movie about a strong female character that slept with strangers and fucked her way to the top Ray Of light: this was actually a very sex-free era, but Beautiful stranger on the other hand... Music: the music video literally takes place in a strip club and she moans a lot throughout the song American Life: not a very sexual era again Confessions: she was gorgeous and very sexy in the leotard, also dirty dancing on the boombox Celebration: Revolver is a song about sex Madame X: Bitch I'm loca. Madonna has ALWAYS been sexual or at the very least sexy and provocative

  12. ....to sing in full orchestra (and with her band) for Christmas as a special gift to fans, which ballads would you request? I'd choose... Masterpiece Joan Of Arc Look Of Love

  13. Many record companies actually pay for play. Cash actually is exchanged for air time. That is one of the reasons that the same cluster of songs is played over and over.

  14. At that time Gaga and Rihanna were doing high profile videos, in the era of Youtube, and Madonna was obsessed with hats, short wigs, black and white and also white toilet walls (Celebration too). No wonder why people lost interest in Give it 2 me with that white toilet wall, when you had Just dance, Poker face or Paparazzi videos everywhere. Madonna had an amazing body shape at that time, and the boxing theme was only connected to the era with the Die another day 2008 backdrop for S&S. The rest was cheap, but the Give it 2 me did well considering everything of what I've said before. It just needed better promo, artworks, concrete theme etc. I'm not even going to talk about Miles Away. Celebration with the album version a good video could be even better, but then she came with the mastering horror Revolver and Give me all your luving (the video was good though). Too much crap in a lapse of 4 years.

  15. Let's not rewrite history here. "Give It 2 Me" wasn't a huge worldwide hit like "4 Minutes" but did QUITE well and was a Top 10 single in almost every European country. Of course not that well in the US, we know.
    3 points
  16. Let's not act as if GI2M was not a hit, maybe not much in the USA but it surely charted well everywhere else, sold good and was popular and still is today, mostly in Europe, and all of this receiving 0 promotion. It has nothing to do with the lack of success of the following projects. It's a mix of wrong single choices and lack of promotion for the upcoming singles, starting from Miles Away, with better songs like this or GGW getting thrown away, while more mediocre singles like, GAUL, LFL or Medellín got performed somewhere at least.

  17. In short: Like A Virgin era -> Superstar True Blue era / Who's That Girl era -> The queen of pop Like A Prayer era / Blond Ambition Tour era / Immaculate Collection era -> A legend in music (similar to Elvis, The Beatles, etc). But after the Sex Book and Erotica, the haters (and many fans) almost destroyed her career. Ray of Light was the second coming. This is my opinion.

  18. Since when did I compare Instagram to her music videos. Clean the rocks out of your head and stop the trolling or you are going to removed from this forum soon. Literally everyone uses photoshop on social media and some of the stuff she posts is meant to get people talking which has been massively successful so far. Madonna uses her social media as a marketing gimmick, nobody is calling it art now are they? GTFO please, you picked the wrong person to respond to, or did you actually realize that you are one of the idiots I was referencing in my previous comment.

  19. I love Madonna. I'll always love Madonna. She is always gonna be MY pop music goddess. She changed my life. She saved my life. She is one of a kind. I loved her when she was younger, I'll love her as she gets older. There will never be another person like her. Enjoy her. And if your talking about her; discussing her; analyzing her; objectifying her; anticipating her -- as she always said "Bitch your a fan"...and doing it all on a Madonna FAN forum too ? ?

  20. Give It 2 Me was huge in Europe, TOP 10 in UK, in Spain on the radio was played a lot, even remixes. There's life after billboard. Give It 2 Me is a hit, just not a BB hit I have to laught how a song that is very successful in Continental Europe, Uk, Asia, Oz, Canada and LA but no in USA is a flop and when a song is a hit in US but unknown everywhere else is THE BIGGEST HIT OF ALL TIME. Excuse me no, maybe is the biggest market but not the only market or more important than the rest of entire world together. Taylor and Mariah know a lot about this (with all the respect to them and the great USA)

  22. What really needs to change is that her fans need to step into the present and stop saying "she needs to do this Madge you're above this don't do that" etc because all that catches on and creates a "SEE NOT EVEN HER FANS LIKE HER ANYMORE" environment. It also amuses me how alot crap on the Frozen remix when clearly it was going viral. People complained about insta being too ugly so she finally serves us looks yet people complain there's filters as if shes the first and only person to ever use filters. She really is damned if she does damned if she doesnt. The only difference is that fans try to overcompensate and try to be "anti-stan" and do nothing but bitch.

  24. She needs to do something beautiful. She is able if she wants, what she has done recently, since 2016, is more strange than beautiful in my opinion. She was very good she needs to reconect.

  26. This. Katy and Gaga (mostly) really set a high level for mvs, from great visuals to iconic and provocative stuff, and right in that time M started to go basic and low budget Not to mention every video that came out was already in 720-1080p and Celebration was 240p why

  27. I thank the Powers That Be every single day that Madonna has not released a standards album, a cover album or a Christmas album. It just flat out bores me when any artist does this sort of thing. Admittedly, I would still participate but I crave a new era, every single time. Madonna essentially doing karaoke is just not my deal. Cyndi Lauper definitely took the other road however, and it is a shame because her work was brilliant and amazing at times. Bring Me to the Brink was flat out amazing. A Night to Remember was also a gem. Not very many studio albums from Ms. Lauper though and that is an artistic crime because she has such an old soul and when she writes, it is fire.

  31. Yes i remember seeing this. The one i remember seeing ended up in the garage or loft of a woman who worked in the record shop of the punky basement of Kensington Market which closed down in the 90's. Its weird there are no images (apart from the attached one) and one of Bowie

  35. It's Like A Virgin era that made her become a Superstar, then True Blue made her beyond superstar that you cannot compare her to Like A Virgin era. But, Like A Prayer era 1989 to 1991 is the era that made her an untouchable megastar where all of success are hers. That's only my observation.

  39. Madonna has always been about sex and religion. I'm always baffled by fans being outraged whenever she uses one or the other in her work. And it was never about being sexy but about being sexual because that's what she is. And there's nothing wrong with that. That's why i loved her and Prince in the first place. Somehow not aknowledging this is like reversed slut shaming or something. But i don't think that's what that poster meant in the first place. Twisting other people's words is what trolls do.

  41. We don't realize what Madonna is doing here because some fans just want her to be popular (to be popular through her). This made her trend on Twitter and, for once, in her favour. Because she's always so extreme and sometimes messy and absolutely never subtle in the way she expresses herself that the first reaction is cringe and be against her but she's starting to create a conversation on agism. You don't change things by asking and saying please while you stay in your safe lane. I was surprised to see Whoopi Goldberg and The View women defending her. She's putting herself on the line here and even though the road is long (look at the misogynistic comments her own fans, or rather supposed fans, make about her) she may succeed to achieve her goal. I love her because she's not scared to be judged, dragged and humiliated because of what she is and that is something most people are afraid of. Edit : and i don't think she's saying to women that they should dress like her. Again, she's being extreme to make her point (like she always did in fact) and the point is dress and act the way you want, it's your life and your body and that we shouldn't live our lives to please others and not do things because we're afraid of what others might say. And that's something she's been saying (but mostly more by leading by example) since day one. She's not saying "be exactly like me" but "don't be afraid to be exactly who you are".

  44. 1985 - no doubt it was that year that made her a mega star. Everything before that was fame and popularity and stuff but 1985 put her in the upper echelon. Everything after that made her untouchable

  48. I dunno. I get the feeling Madonna has very little love for Bedtime Stories album. She ignores it apart from Human Nature. She probably sees it as a compromised apology album. It’s likely to be one of the albums that is skipped on the deluxe eras which is why they’ve probably released most of the content. I hope not though. It’s one of my personal faves and probably the album I play most tbh. It’s such a vibe
