  1. I heard that Madonna is going to fire her engineers because clearly they are no where as good as us here on this forum.

  2. OK, now you're all making a disaster/"Celebration" bad remastering scenario for "Finally Enough Love" when the reality is we've had so far a not perfect, but rather good one remaster ("Into The Groove") and another one not that good that comes from an "already not that good" master, anyway ("Deeper And Deeper"). Don't get me wrong, I've always said I prefer NO remastering at all - I was super happy when the back catalogue digital singles were released as they were, without sound boosting or anything. But I also understand that in a 2022 compilation that simply can't happen. General public simply don't expect to have to turn the volume uuuup to listen to something. A product like this needs to meet the nowadays standards. Let's wait, there will be another advanced track soon and then we'll have a fuller picture. And by the way, almost everyone in the music business would kill to work with Mike Dean. If that man isn't experienced enough for you to handle this project I don't know who it can be then.

  3. No, there's dozens of us... dozens! I wasn't a big fan of this mix at the time but I love this version, it has that extra little bit of oomph it needed. I don't really understand all the technical analysis so I'll just continuing living in ignorance and enjoy the music Deep deep deep ⬇️DEEP

  5. No offense to anyone making fun of us analyzing the music... but blemishes in the music can instantly pull someone out of an experience. The magic of music production lies in creating space with audio effects like reverb and delays and it transports you to a place other than where you are. Something like the audio glitch in Music on Celebration makes the track unlistenable to me. The world created by Mirwais is instantly killed. The same could be said for Deeper and Deeper on this collection to me. The Kick and Cymbals are distorted when played together. It sounds ear fatiguing. It's fine though. Now I know it's not going to be THAT type of listening experience like every single album before Hard Candy. This is something to play casually, not get lost in the world of sound. It's also not something we should expect because of loudness wars and the such. Alot of new music is an eargasm to listen to. Many artists mixing in Dolby Atmos which is all about the separation of sounds, not crushing them together in some homogenous mess. Harry Styles new album sounds AMAZING, and he's at the top of the music game I would say.

  6. Ok, I've done a test and, and believe it or not, they barely remastered the original remix. Only a little more bass. So the problem is the fucking compression, killing the dynamic range (It's too loud). Unfortunately, this is a problem since American Life. The Green curve represents the original track from the original CD-Promo, the white curve it's the FEL version. The EQ is almost identical except for the bass (a little louder). The line with points tells you the differences in the EQ between songs. The test it's been done at the same volume. Check the compression (left: FEL version, right: original promo CD). So the remastering is amazing, the dynamic range compression is awful. But nowadays this is the new normal in music (at least in Warner).

  8. People are acting like if you say something critical about the remastering, that it means you think Madonna is over and should retire. I don’t get it! It’s just a critique! A discussion! Who knows what the rest of the songs are gonna sound like.

  15. Sadly audiophiles are a largely a thing of the past. Most people listen to music on cheap laptops and mobile phones often with cheap headphones, or even flat screen TV speakers which are notoriously shite or sad little bluetooth speakers. Most people don't even have a hifi system anymore. Either that or theyre on free or LQ data plans or Spotify Free or even You Tube. Crap sound is the dominant format unfortunately and M's music needs to sound audiable through those mediums. Not just M's most people so they sort of have to plump out her music just like her ass to compete.

  19. It is, at the very least, even if I won't listen to this particular remix from the collection, it rekindled my love for David's mixes. I'll just swap it out with the original on my playlist.

  22. Or maybe she/they wanted to leave that there to make it unique and different. Do you honestly think they didn't notice that mixing the song? What some of you call mixing mistakes during the years are just production choices - like the start of "Bitch I'm Madonna" with "...this", etc. Of course let's not enter the can of worms that is "Celebration" here hahaha.

  23. It doesn't make sense discuss about the bad remasters, of this track and whaterver remastered tracks... this compilation it's a fan product only and the remasters don't make the old files vanished from the earth... I mean, it's not the end of the world. It's only a remaster to make more cohesive the "level sound" of a compilation. Let's wait to see the whole compilation, and the whole remasters of course.

  27. OK I just listened to the original as it was. Thanks a lot to @Frankfor letting me know about it and its original source, this promo from Japan: https://www.discogs.com/es/release/9291970-Various-Warner-Music-Japan-Top-Hits-Selection-January-1 And I have to say that sorry, but I also stand by my original opinion. It's OK to disagree :-) But to me, the original mix is incredibly low in volume and, even when you turn it up enough, is bright as f**k. Her vocals seemed to be already compressed somehow in the original remix - check 0:29 "I let my father mold me", seems like David Morales applied some kind of compression of filter to her vocals on the remix. The 2022 remaster sounds a little bit compressed, yes, but I can't see how it could sound better with that original source without going back to the original multitracks - and there's no way they would to that for a 1992 remix, maybe the album versions when the Deluxe editions are released, yes. To sum it up: the 2022 remaster is what the original was but louder - To my ears! Personal review, not saying this is the universal truth about it. :-)

  30. but.... if it was about the charity, wouldn't it make more sense to sell one of her Picasso paintings? Or donate her music catalog? this is like the proceedings of the awful "Hey You" going to a charity.... why not "Hung Up"?

  31. I don't know his experience. But I think Mike Dean is a just a producer. NOT a mastering engineer. So when we see the word REMASTERED on this release I would say it's going to be more of a Mike Dean INTERPRETATION Remix rather than a typical Remaster where Audio QUALITY is the objective.

  32. This comment displays such a monumental lack of understanding of spirituality. Firstly, who is anyone to tell someone else that they are spiritual or not? I mean, where is the doctrine that dictates this magic formula? Secondly, spirituality in the sense of the eternal force of life throughout the Universe would surely not expire because of a butt implant. Or maybe I’m wrong and this person just got a memo the Universe forgot to send Madonna’s way. 🙄 It’s truly bizarre how self-assured people can be in their avatar dreams, and yet in real life they can hardly find a thread of commonality with anyone who isn’t exactly like them.

  38. The fact that everything is chopped off at -3db clearly indicates this person doesn’t know what they’re doing. Compression doesn’t need to clip anything. This is extreme compression (limiting). And limiting at -3 is weird. But I’m pretty sure Mike clips audio for an effect. (bass sounds usually) It sounds like the sound is busting speakers. It can be cool as a production technique, but it’s not something anyone who knows about sound would do to an entire piece of music. I’m actually curious if maybe he mistakenly set his limiter to -3 instead of -.03. A -3db ceiling is weird and he does smoke a lot of pot.

  40. What we can't judge now is the overall mastering of the compilation, since they had to remaster material from VERY different sources, given the major changes in single / remix production and process throughout the years. Think vintage Pettibone vs. Offer Nissim... and it's Mike Dean, not some random studio guy... When we hear it all, we'll have the direction they took with these 50 (FIFTY) tracks. Enormous job, not easy. I like that the remastering didn't bring forward M's vocals as much as ITG (the first single from FEL). Erotica (the album) was recorded with a lo-fi spirit and David Morales did a good job back then on the vocal treatment, so the remaster mainly sounds brighter and bumpier, satisfying enough. AMEN. Of course, the original will sound better, less overbearing on a big system.

  41. I would rather they just use the original lossless files then and no sound boosting remastering then - Nero express does that on my laptop 🥴😭🙄

  44. That’s not necessarily true. The vinyl masters are different than what’s on CD. The best example is Celebration. The CD is awfully compressed while the vinyl sounds amazing.
