  5. Anyone should listen to their artists in the way they like best. But it's true streaming is very important now and Madonna (as many other older artists with older fan bases) faces this problem. But she also enjoys the larger profits that the physical sales give to legacy artists, so it's not all bad. The main issue here is the lack of a new generation streaming her (except for the "Frozen" Sickick remix or trend things like "Material Girl"). But Warner is working on that and her numbers are increasing a lot since last year. "Finally Enough Love" update from today: Healthy. Most of the tracks could have at least 100.000 streams at the end of its 1st week, that's good.

  6. I can't believe it. It's from a lossy source (mp3 or similar). I also did a sample rate conversion from 88200 Hz to 44100 Hz in Audition and it's clear: Living For Love is from a lossy source This is incredible. Hi-Res audio... HA!

  7. Yes but strangely I found some of this pictures more natural then usal (they are clearly taken with a professional camera not a phone like he normally does and they are absolutely gorgeous) 😅

  8. So then we can just expect them to release the leaked mp3s on the expanded editions? 😂

  9. No that's the problem i have with it, it may not be possible to give us a HiRes format of these mixes for whatever reason (probably they just doesn't exist). But to sell a package on Qobuz saying it's HiRes when it clearly isn't is a con. It's not just one or two tracks either, some of them may appear HiRes but they are only just pushing over the original CD quality for them to register as so.

  11. I think her vocals were at its worst during Sticky and MDNA. There was a clear difference during Rebel Heart. For the best. Honestly that era is severely underrated. The tour, her looks, vocals, performances, etc. She was in her mid 50s and she was amazing.

  13. https://ricerca.gelocal.it/lanuovasardegna/archivio/lanuovasardegna/2001/10/03/ST403.html That time in Samassi: "Madonna, who is she?" In 1983 she sang at the Biggest nightclub, but no one knew her yet CAGLIARI. Veronica Ciccone? A shy girl, anything but aggressive, without pretensions or vamp attitudes. She appeared dressed in black pants and a miniskirt over it, a lot of chains around her neck and a tight T-shirt. The portrait of Madonna dates back to 18 years ago. It was a rainy Thursday, that 20 October 1983. Discoring was one of the cult programs of Rai. Emanuela Falcetti, Isabella Russinova and Anna Pettinelli led the lounge of dance music, but not only, wandering around Italian discos. It was the turn of Samassi's "Biggest". «The Rai people called me. I knew the other guests but this Madonna did not convince me. They said - Francesco Fois, owner of the Biggest, remembers with a half smile - that the disco would make history because the girl was doing great in America and would soon make it big in Europe too. They were right: since then Madonna has never sung in a nightclub again». Samassi's look was later used by the star in the film Desperately Seeking Susan. The beginning of an amazing career or almost. “That day she stood aside, locked himself in the dressing room and came out just to rehearse her piece. She made "Holiday", a piece that had not yet arrived in Italy» says Gianfranco Pisano who has been working on scripts and lighting at the Biggest ever since. It turns out that on that evening Madonna was a supporting act. «The big names were Immagination, in the charts all over the world with" Illusion ". And there were also Brian Adams and Eugenio Finardi, who was annoyed because they asked him to give way to Madonna, someone who no one knew, because otherwise she would have missed the plane». So: a scheduled flight, no private plane, no bodyguards. Veronica Ciccone arrived in Samassi with a hired Mercedes. “The personal producer also told her how to say hello. She ate a ham sandwich and asked for an orange soda: and even these choices were made by the manager». In short, a semi-unknown debut. At the Biggest they have kept no autographs, no photos, or any other kind of memorabilia. Of the evening, which opened at two in the afternoon and ended in the middle of the night, there is a vhs cassette jealously guarded by the owner. «She didn't arouse particular attention, a feisty blonde like so many others. She lip-synched and had to repeat the recording as well» adds Francesco Fois. That episode of Discoring aired the following Sunday. Madonna certainly did not hint at her golden destiny. From Cagliari, Miss Ciccone flew to Milan. And towards success. Quella volta a Samassi: «Madonna, e chi è?»

  14. Yes, but there is still that "T" in the background... Actually if you check the multitrack, esp. track LFL 51 M verse lead voc, you clearly hear that "T" and it's because that's how the vocal track was rendered. Whenever they use the acapella, it's there and that's what happened here. LFL 51 M verse lead voc.mp3

  17. It's definitely more complicated than the old physical system where 1 copy = 1 sale. Also, there are two levels to understand streaming: - 1st: worldwide, the most important thing now is that it is worldwide and the profit is the goal, not the charts. Of course the mega hits are going to chart anyway cause charts are supposed to reflect what's popular. Just like before, of course, but now you don't need to separate markets: the whole world is your market. - 2nd: of course, each country has their own charts and a song can be a hit in a country but not in others. And each country has their own system of how to count streaming into their national charts (most of the time is a points system where a number of streams equals the value of a 1 sale). Do you have to listen to the whole album for it to count as a stream? No. Total streams of an album that week are added to the album and X number of streams on each country equal 1 sale. The album with more sales (physical plus equivalent from streaming) is the #1 on the country that week. How long do you have to listen to a song for it to count? 30 seconds at least. When you listen to a song for 30 sec. at least is considered 1 stream. That's why popular songs got shorter and shorter with time, the shorter your song is, more chances for having it streamed more times and make more money. Example: "Frozen" Sickick, 2:00. What if you only play an individual song, does it count towards the album or as a single? Both. If you play it from an album, it will count to that album but also to the song. I always stream on Spotify and YouTube, but I have no clue how it works. It's hard! I don't even get it completely, to be honest, hahaha. Just stream (or listened to your physical media, every format is cool) and be happy ^^

  22. Also this was a very exclusive event to promote anything. The remix could have been included as a streaming exclusive bonus track at midnight. And drive a bunch of streams and attention to the album. This way the only thing that trended was Madonna making out with Tokischa and most people that saw that are not even aware this compilation exists

  24. First of all, a true racist or misogynist is full time and not just for moments. On the other hand, taking into account that these words have hatred and contempt in common, then how can someone be a misogynist (hate women) and at the same time be a fan of a woman? That simple question is enough to demonstrate the inconsistency of calling someone a misogynist or racist. Once for saying I don't like hip hop/rap, a person on this forum not only accused me of being a racist but even posted a YouTube video about white supremacy and music. Nothing is further from reality because I'm not white and I don't like other musical genres either, so his/her prejudgment was evident. In conclusion, I think that racist and misogynist are very strong words that should not be used lightly and serve as a fashionable weapon to suppress uncomfortable comments. With a little more intelligence/wisdom, you can respond to these comments with dignity and not get carried away by anger or, what a contradiction, stereotypes.

  26. Who could despise the idea of working with true music legends like the PetShopBoys and decide to simply join the most popular producers (in the USA) at the time, wrongly thinking that she would achieve a successful album without the slightest effort or commitment? Well, Madonna, who apparently was more enthusiastic about future projects with a new label (Live Nation) and did not put the necessary dedication into this album and we not only saw it demonstrated in the production but also in the concept of the album (hard candy?) and even on the cover: too bland and simple for my taste. Hard Candy breaks Madonna's trend of putting out wonderful albums since Ray of Light. It has some very catchy songs but the album itself does not transcend. For the most demanding fans, it does not end up meeting our expectations, something that Madonna herself had accustomed us to since Ray of Light. Unfortunate collaborations (except for Justin Timberlake), forgettable music videos and the lack of promotion of the album on TV make this era the least interesting in recent times. In conclusion, a candy so hard that to this day it is impossible for many to digest.

  29. Money is money in the end. They probably will lose a little help into the 1st week positions but gain old school fans streaming a Madonna album mainly for the 1st time (cause they don't have another option yet!). It's risky but I think it will pay off.
    2 points
  30. The "Finally Enough Love" version released now won't chart yet, it doesn't have a chance. Streams are count from Friday to Thursday, I think (depending on the country), but anyway she won't have enough streams to enter the charts. Legacy artists like her rely heavily on the physical sales still. This strategy is weird and there's no way a now popular artist like, let's say Taylor, Adele, any of the biggest, would do this now, cause they generate enough streams to have a proper impact on their first week chart position, so they need the streaming + physical sales to have a great first week. On Madonna's case, streaming is going to be a small piece of the 1st week pie anyway, so it's a good strategy having the Standard edition released a month a half previous to the general release, to try to bring some old school fans into streaming until August 19 is here. She's not losing anything - in any case she can only win in trying to get more fans into streaming and that way increase her numbers.

  31. I think a bit of both haha. I save HD sources but for me they don’t sound radically better than normal lossless CD quality. Lossy though loses some audible detail depending on how compressed it is. In this case I checked because to my ears it sounded inferior to the other tracks on the album. And it turned out it was. And another issue with lossy masters is that on streaming these get compressed again so they sound even worse

  32. Only "Like A Virgin" because is a digital recording, the rest are true Hi-Res audio tracks. The original "Like A Virgin" CDs are like a copy of the original master.
    2 points
  33. Plus, it's a very catchy remix too and it is very reminiscent of the original song. Probably because of the song key.
    2 points
  34. Well, HDTRACKS (and other websites) are selling Like A Virgin at 192000 Hz when the original master was recorded in digital at 44100 Hz. Many Madonna's digital masters seems to be recorded only at CD/DVD quality in the 80s and 90s.

  35. Sadly, and we all know that, this is not rare in the music industry. There are tons of examples, Janet and even Prince come to mind right now. They use whatever they have available and if the rest of the collection is HQ, they fake it. Now the Apple Digital Master (previously know as Mastered For iTunes) is quite popular and most of the big label artists usually have that. That version is converted from the original files and they need to be 24 bits so the label has to provide Apple with those HQ masters so they can convert them into Apple Digital Master AAC files... in collections like this one where not every source is HQ they just fake it cause you can't have some songs on an album being Apple Digital Master and not others, you need the whole album or nothing at all. It's sad, I know, but we also know 99,9% of the people listening to it don't care, mind, notice. I usually care and I didn't even notice anything weird with the "Living For Love" remix, to be honest, I wouldn't know if it wasn't for you. But I agree is not the perfect situation.
    2 points
  36. Or it's a mistake (a big mistake) or the final remix doesn't exist in lossless format. But selling a Hi-Res file from a lossy format it's not fair.
    2 points
  37. It's the single edit from You Can Dance.

  38. I get what you mean but if that was really the objective why did she perform 2 remixes that aren't on the album? I think this new remix has more potential for a young audience similar to the Frozen remixes.

  39. Love the remix but the primary objective of this performance was to promote the FEL compilation, and releasing a new remix not on the compilation at the same time would take away from it, I think.
