  8. So an entire body of work is no good because of a couple of songs? I should disregard the majority of the work for a few silly moments that happen on nearly every Madonna record (which, for the record, I always enjoy as they are quintessentially Madonna)? And with all due respect, who gives a flying fuck about the general public, especially at this point. "Good music" has nothing to do with the general public. Especially considering what passes for hits these days. By that measure, a handful of some of the best songs on the last 3 albums absolutely deserved to be hits. It was clear from first listen that MX was not designed for the GP. I actually find that a good thing. Not every record needs to be, especially when an artist is willing to let go of commercial appeal for the sake of a true artistic vision...let alone to do it in a part of their career where unfortunate circumstances outside of their own control basically hinder any possibility of having commercial hits again anyway. To do that nearly 4 decades into a career, as a female artist, in pop music, is nearly sacrilege... and once again, it proves to me why Madonna is fundamentally different than the rest of her peers. I don't see that many of them, past or present, creating such a work at that stage of their career. MX is not going to be to everyone's taste (no album will be). That's perfectly fine. But using commercial success as the only barometer of the value of a piece of work is an incredibly poor way to measure any artistic work. ps. Anything as good as POG or ROL on MX...hmmm, yes - Dark Ballet, God Control, Future, Batuka, Killers Who Are Partying, Come Alive, Extreme Occident, IDSIF, Ciao Bella...to name a few. ;)

  12. Madonna, the one who gave us Borderline, Live To Tell, Papa don't Preach, Into The Groove, Like a Prayer, Secret, Frozen, Drowned World, Don't tell me... And we are waiting for Material what. Very sad.

  15. Legendary out director John Schlesinger, who died in 2003, blamed Madonna's prima donna behavior on the set of his final film, The Next Best Thing, for his 1999 heart attack. The New York Daily News quotes a letter written by the hospitalized filmmaker to his agent in which Schlesinger writes, "I am fucking angry with [producer] Tom [Rosenberg] being influenced by Madonna. I do not for one moment think that their behavior has not added to the reasons I have ended up here." Another Schlesinger memo said that Madonna wanted producers to use postproduction computer imaging to "beautify" her in 34 separate shots. The director also said that Madonna lobbied to have a key scene removed because she felt it was too "gay," much to Schlesinger's disgust. Madonna's publicist Liz Rosenberg told The [London] Daily Telegraph that she was surprised by Schlesinger's allegations, adding, "No one has ever questioned her level of professional behavior."

  25. The film is what it is, but still it spoke about "unconventional family" before it became a standard for tv shows and movies. The soundtrack si FUCKING AMAZING. I was obessed back then and I'm still obsessed with it.

But what about songs such as Devil Pray, Ghost Town, Joan, Heartbreak City, Wash All Over Me, Veni Vidi Vici, Messiah, Rebel Heart, God Control, Crave, Come Alive, Crazy, Ciao Bella, Extreme Occident, IDIF, Looking For Mercy? People only mention the weakest of her new music and compare them to the classics, not really fair imo. There's so much good stuff even in her worst work ever tbh

  31. Hi everyone ! Since we'll soon be celebrating the 40th anniversary of Madonna's career (!!), and due to popular demand, I'll organize a megarate for every single Madonna album. Let's now see how the tracks from the Rebel Heart era compete with each other. As requested by most users who participated in other games, non-album tracks from the corresponding era will also be included. Rules: - Make sure to know all the songs included in the competition. - Rate each song from 1 to 10. You are allowed to give the same rate to multiple songs. - Decimals are allowed only up to the hundredth (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED WHEN YOU CAN IN ORDER TO AVOID TIES). - You are allowed to give one 0 and one 11 (OPTIONAL). - Send your rates to me by personal messenger before August 11th, NOT in the thread. Results: #1 - 8,53 - Ghosttown #2 - 8,28 - Living for Love #3 - 8,05 - Rebel Heart #4 - 7,97 - Devil Pray #5 - 7,67 - HeartBreakCity #6 - 7,61 - Wash All Over Me #7 - 7,25 - Messiah #8 - 7,17 - Inside Out #9 - 7,01 - Best Night #10 - 6,94 - Joan of Arc #11 - 6,89 - Addicted #12 - 6,88 - Iconic #13 - 6,87 - Hold Tight #14 - 6,66 - Unapologetic Bitch #15 - 6,54 - Holy Water #16 - 6,37 - Illuminati #17 - 6,30 - Bitch I'm Madonna #18 - 6,25 - Borrowed Time #19 - 6,17 - Beautiful Scars #20 - 6,12 - Body Shop #21 - 6,07 - Veni Vidi Vici #22 - 5,37 - S.E.X. #23 - 4,79 - Graffiti Heart #24 - 2,93 - Auto-Tune Baby Good luck to everyone!

  34. I take it as an extra but I wouldn't mind an album of her remixing old tracks with other people. We have Frozen, Hung Up, this one depending if they have added some lyrics from Material Girl... Madonna experimenting and having fun is good, we may not be so super exited or weren't when she released those Frozen remixes but at least she did the job and gave is music videos

  35. Like all her movies The Next Best Thing is total camp fest and unintentionally hilarious. M going in and out of accents, turning gay man straight, The Lighting, The Yoga.. gotta love it M and Rupert Everett were cute together, i think he was even Lourdes' godfather

  41. The funny thing is that she looked quite senior on the movie itself (which is not a bad thing, bad the way) LOL, but I mean, she was not that old, I almost her age at the time she did the movie and without make up, filters, massages surgeries and all the cares I think I look younger than hers on that movie. I read the role initially was made for a swimming teacher but she did not wanted to have anything to do with pools so she changed to yoga: wrong decition, made the character more like her, so the critics had more things to say against her.
