  1. @thelioncourtheart_Can you guess the incorrect one and give it another go, it was really close! And then you can make up the next ten hehehehe
  2. @LiamOh I meant nine out of the ten were correct. Just one was incorrect.
  3. @thelioncourtheart_Thanks for playing! 9/10 so close! Do you know which one it was? @Liamcan you guess the one that was missing?
  4. @RUADJAIWasn't Cyber ragga with Talvin Singh though and the alternate version by WO?
  5. I was kind of bored, actually have lots to do but my mind is wandering (adhd) so I made up a game if anyone wants to play. Here are ten words taken from different Madonna songs. Can you name the songs they're from without Googling the lyrics? 01 Unexamined 02 Avenue 03 Paralysed / Paralyzed 04 Gasket 05 Transcendentally 06 Friday 07 Silently 08 Anonymity 09 Patches 10 Stallion
  6. He's easily one of my favourite producers, although I'm not a fan of any of his songs from the COADF era. My top ten: I Deserve It X-Static Process Paradise Love Profusion Nobody's Perfect Easy Ride Nothing Fails Mother And Father Don't Tell Me Hollywood And I do like the tracks that were leaked from Hello Suckers.
  7. @EnricoFor me it was something that immediately stuck out when reading about unreleased stuff back in 2007 because it seems so different to what had been done before, but then again I remember how much she liked Cafe del Mar (circa 1997-1998) and Beuna Vista Social Club (although can't remember the exact sources), so world music and fusion seem to have been something in her peripheral vision for quite a while. With that in mind, I really can't wait to hear how her current interests are influencing her new sound now.
  8. Wow @discohubI didn't actually know anything about them, thanks for that. Yes, definitely, the chances of the tracks ever surfacing are so slim. It was very early days following DWT I imagine, and as we know, the album eventually became American Life with Mirwais. Remember when it was mentioned she wanted to call it Ein Sof? But that was much later in the process, I think. Just interesting to trace the evolution really, even though we're likely to never hear the tracks from these sessions.
  9. Unreleased songs in Madonna's back catalogue are always a source for fascination. For a long time I've wondered about these three tracks. I first read about them in 2007 and no one seems to have ever mentioned them. Did anybody else come across this information on Wiki page for unreleased recordings? Wonder what they sound like if they really exist. Been thinking about it again lately in the build up to the new album. For the tracks with Bapi Das Baul, Madonna had asked him if he wanted to work on something for her next album, after coming across his work on a compilation CD she was listening to. Although nothing else is known about these collaborations, Madonna's work with him is also mentioned in the book: Writing the City in British Asian Diasporas edited by Sean McLoughlin, William Gould, Ananya From Wiki: "(title(s) unknown)", two songs recorded with Belgian-Congolese fusion group Zap Mama mixed by Pairs-based Bengali artist Subhendu Bapi Das Baul says the Screen India June 8, 2001. Plus a third recording is a Madonna guest vocal on a Bapi Das Baul track says the India Today April 2, 2001. Ultimately, Shubhendu ended up cutting not one, but two tracks. So far, these collaborations have not surfaced." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unreleased_songs_recorded_by_Madonna I also wonder if she did more with Talvin Singh than we know about (NRM and CR). I love those tracks and had always hoped they'd work together on a ballad. Her voice and his music...
  10. "Hey Madonna, would you consider making the mutltitracks of your songs from each album and era available to aid the creativity of producers/remixes who want to learn each layer of these tracks, and to discourage the illegal trade market that exists among collectors?"
  11. Maybe her next single is going to be just as important.
  12. I could've sworn I opened a thread about Vision Quest... Where did it go?
  13. It was so unreal to have her living in London. For so long she was like this mythical being and then suddenly she was a bus ride away just living her life, going to yoga, hanging out at the Punch Bowl or in Hyde Park. I do feel bad when I think she was unhappy in her marriage though.
  14. It was difficult being a Madonna fan in a repressed, abusive household that pretended to the local community it was a happy Catholic household. When LAP came out I became obsessed with the imagery as at that time I was being forced to go to church although I didn't believe in anything and I felt my family were hypocritical for forcing me. So whilst sitting there I'd think of burning crosses and a half naked woman dancing in a church. Then I was banned from watching TV, reading magazines and listening to the radio. I'd have to hide to do it and started stealing magazines from the shops and hiding them under the bed or hearing the neighbours' radio. By the time Erotica came out, at home she was considered filth. I'd wake up early and sneak downstairs to watch MTV just to find out what it was I was banned from. At school (catholic school that is) they called her filth, whore and trash but they all watched the videos and had the cassette and had seen In Bed with Madonna too, so I felt they were hypocritical too. It was though being a fan and sticking to what I felt was true, even at such a young age. She was fascinating, fearless and her fuck you attitude was everything I wanted to say to all the small minded idiots around me. By the time Evita came out I'd left home and it was interesting seeing people's perception change. And the ROL and Music further helped. She was a mother now too and at that time she didn't look back on her back catalogue. I think people got the idea she felt Erotica and Sex were mistakes and she would rather forget it. To me at least, 1998 Madonna seemed so far away from Boy Toy, Rebellious Catholic and Sex Madonna that I never would've imagined that side of her returning after her second divorce. Leaving home allowed me to read, watch and listen to whatever I wanted and it was great hearing her on radio all the time, being played in clubs, seeing her videos and on magazine covers. She looked gorgeous, her hair had never been that long in her career and I was so fascinated by this creature. Each era was so unique and amazing and felt like she had something different to say each time. Erotica, from my perspective, was a really low point, hearing people at home and at school talk about her that way but still watching everything she did.
  15. American Life original version gets my vote, but seeing that list reminds me how many great ones there were. WIFLAG I absolutely love as well. DAD was epic. LP was cute and she looked so beautiful. Hung Up was stunning. Was only really let down with Get Together and Jump. NF and NKM really deserved their own videos too.
  16. Haaha we probably downloaded off each other on those p2p networks!
  17. Absolutely! That was the very first Madonna website I visited on the Internet back in the day. Landed on it probably from Ask Jeeves! That's where I found the gorgeous Hert Ritts LAP shots. And there was a gallery of video caps as well.
  18. @scottyjWonder if you were on AudioGalaxy and Mircback then too... That was like 2001 and then Madonna Share Hub. Was the only way to find all those bootleg mixes. Oh and of course Napster!
  19. I think Borderline is anything but insignificant or dated. It's the first M video by Mary Lambert and its depiction of a strong, in control woman is how we'd come to think of her in the decades to come. It also showcased the Boy Toy look in a more evolved way than we saw with Lucky Star. Insignificant? Surely not.
  20. Sounds vaguely familiar actually. Do you remember Madonna Power and Ashram and Real Media video clips? The old days!
  21. Argh, it's too hard to choose! The Power of Goodbye Oh Father Frozen La Isla Bonita Who's That Girl Open Your Heart Oh forget it, they're all great!!!!!
  22. The Just Blaze Mix gets me going at the gym when I need some extra help!
