You know what I mean though. I don’t have time or space for a laserdisc player and whatever else. I’m very grateful for the fans that have transferred the things from there though otherwise we wouldn’t have BAT, WTGT in Japan etc ❤️

I agree with you, but first, something needs to be transferred. We were discussing the best quality format for the Blond Ambition Tour, which is the original SD master tape. So, if you want the best quality, you need a copy of that tape on DVD-9 or 'SD on BD'. After that, it can be transferred to be played on your computer, and it will be better than the Laser-Disc version.

I would take a laserdisc over anything her team upscale - at least it’s in its original form and to me they are no more cumbersome than vinyl - you still have to turn those fuckers over and my laserdisc player plays both sides anyway so I don’t have to get up to change it - I still have a lot of music concerts on laserdisc that have yet to be released even on dvd so I’m keeping them 😉

Fortunately, the SD master tape is better than the LD version. DVD (double layer) would be the perfect format (or better yet, the almost unknown SD-BD format).

I never understood why people are so hyped about the open your heart 7" remix I don't even think the singles coming this year and if it comes I believe they will pull the plug regarding that mix,I like the mix but it's put on a pedestal

Because in Europe the 7'' Remix was the version played on radio stations. For many of us is the "original" version (and the best version). And it's unavailable on CD.

Growing up in the 90s it was always the q-sound versions I would hear on the radio. Now i actually hear the originals but for the longest time TIC was the source for all the madonna hits.

But there is a simple explanation for this: in 1990, radio stations switched from playing vinyl records to playing CDs. During that same year, the only edited versions available on CD of her old songs were on TIC. Therefore, TIC was the best option for radio stations to play edited versions from a digital source, all available on a single disc. Unfortunately, many of her original 7'' have not been available from digital sources for decades

Of course, when Celebration arrived, it became the new source for playing her old songs on radio stations, and TIC was forgotten.

PS: Her first promotional CD-Single in the USA was ‘Like A Prayer’ in 1989. And the first promotional CD-Single in Europe was 'This Used To Be My Playground' in 1992 (if my memory serves me right). I’m referring to promotional CD-Singles sent to radio stations, I’m not talking about commercial CD-singles.

First of all the Immaculate Collection version is an edit since it’s almost a minute shorter. And it’s much better done than the 7” which sounds pretty choppy to me.

Choppy? It only has one edit in the middle and it’s perfectly done. The beginning starts with the melody, and the end is a simple early fade. It’s one of her best edits for radio, without anything important left out. And personally I prefer the 7’’ version over the album version. The TIC version sounds like the vocals were recorded in the bathroom of a church.

What exactly was the point of these singles, exactly?

Also, no the Immaculate Collection Version of Live To Tell isn't an edit. It's just a Q-Sound Mix of the album version. There is not short version of Live To Tell available on streaming. Also, the 7" Edit isn't even some obscure local or promo only edit. It's THE 7" Version released on all formats of the single.

If there was supposedly a point to release the singles above with only one or NO new/exclusive tracks included, then yes there DEFINITELY is a point to release Live To Tell and Crazy For You.

Some fans forget something very important. Many non-fans only know and love the versions played on the radio. And those are the versions they want in streaming (including me).

@Aiwa08some of these are uncut or different right? Vogue (Single Mix) 5:57 and like a prayer mix too

    Recreations?

    Thanks!

Yes @Would You Like To Try. I wanted something better than a simple compilation of singles. The mix is what’s important here, not the edits. These are my edits:

    01. Like A Prayer (Single Mix) 5:40
    02. Express Yourself (Single Mix) 4:58
    06. Cherish (Single Mix) 5:01

    14. Express Yourself (House Remix) 4:58 (Recreated from CD to avoid the compressed sound from Celebration DVD)

    15. Keep It Together (House Remix) 5:46
    16. Vogue (Single Mix) 5:58
    17. Rescue Me (Single Mix) 5:31

the 7" remix is exactly like the album version but sped up and different ending plus some differences

It’s the same case as “Like A Prayer” and “Express Yourself”, with a mix similar to the album version as side A, and a remix edit as side B, but this time the roles were reversed, with the remix edit as side A and the 7’’ mix available only as a promo (as side B).

  9. How can I explain this in English?

Well, in 1989, I was the DJ at the end-of-year dance at a Catholic spanish school run by nuns. They explicitly prohibited me from playing Madonna’s music, labeling it as ‘cabaret music’ that was not suitable for girls aged between 14 and 18 years old.

The funny thing is that many of those girls kept asking me to play ‘Like A Prayer’ all night long. I played it once, and the head nun ran out like the Road Runner to ask me to turn it off (she actually asked me very kindly) and I didn’t play it again.
