  1. Madame X will only ever be looked at a period of musical creativity. It is the Madonna album with the least personality. It’s an art piece and a social commentary. Thats why it didn’t connect. There’s very little Madonna in it. A couple of lines in Medellin and that’s it. Madonna albums usually get praised in retrospect when they use the lens of analysing Madonna’s life at the time. I can’t think of a single song on Madame X that tells me about Madonna and where she is, who she is or how she is in her life. Maybe the survivors guilt somewhere on Funana but that’s pushing it at best. It’s probably the first album when she shone the lens away from herself. Which in itself is quite interesting but as a fan of the woman herself it leaves the listener feeling quite hollow even though there’s much heart in the album. I don’t know. It’s a brilliant record in many ways but it just doesn’t move me in the way much of the stuff on Rebel Heart and even MDNA does because it’s faceless. Thats its real Achilles heel. so I’m not sure what a ten year appraisal would have to say.
  2. If Madonna hadn't got a bunch of different new music ideas either finished, half finished or in production I'd be shocked. Five years with no new music and let's be honest she was writing Madame X in 2017-18. If she hasn't started something already and waits until the tour is over it will be 2025. That's the best part of a decade without working on new music? There must be some stuff done eh. There is six weeks til the end of the tour. Then there's the amended concert show that's going to Brazil May 4th A rumoured return to the UK for some stadium dates (prays to god) possibly an Aus-Asian leg in 2025. It looks like she goes there every 10 years maybe dunno so maybe 2025 second leg like S&S Tour Confessions 06 Rebel Heart 16 November - Like A Virgin 40th and announcement of the second leg maybe? If there's no second leg and no LAV 40th I wouldn't count new music out for the first quarter of 2025 back in the studio in September - Nov after she's spent the summer with her kids. If not then I'm hella disappointed. Maybe I agreed with her not looking back all this time. New music and the next chapter please mother.
  3. Madonna wouldn't have been swapped out for Shania. SZA would have been the Madonna replacement. Shania is doing the legends slot. Madonna would not be doing that slot. She'd be the same slow as Elton closing Sunday or Saturday Night. SZA is a huge name in the states but she's not much of a presence here. I've tried repeatedly with her stuff but it sounds so samey to me and I'm a long time RnB / alt RnB fan. I think a lot of people will head home early on the Sunday. The sad thing is the Brazil festival made it work but Glasto just don't seem to be able to afford her or accommodate her needs technically. Plus the risk of her showing up late will not be tolerated. They cut Lana Del Ray and Janet off. No artists is bigger than the festival at Glasto. Ive been many times and tho whole diva thing is so at odds with the spirit of the festival. It could be a disaster for her. If it went ahead a hits heavy, more relaxed singalong celebration tour stuff she'd do great but the singing needs to be 100% live and the setlist not self indulgent. I imagine she just doesn't think she needs it but it would truly be a moment. 2007 would have been the year tbh. Glasto is the most amazing festival in the world but so far it has never managed to secure some of those absolutely megastar names. Michael Jackson, Prince, Cher, George Michael, Whitney, Tina Turner and now Madonna. Bowie, Dolly and Elton are a true exception to the rule. I have to say it's one of the weakest line ups i've seen in many years. Dua is big but I hope she has the duration and personality for a headline Glasto slot. It really is a different beast. Cosplay will be great as they're perfect for anthem festivals but they'd been many times before. Shanias always been a bit of a gimmicky act to me . Janelle is in her flop era and the only real pull for me is Jessie Ware and I've seen her in the last six months. It's actually really shit. Disclosure will Bopp but there's no real huge dance acts to pop off to apart from them really.
  4. It's giving GAYluvin chart rules all over again.
  5. Surprise ? That’d be right. They’re not even advertised on Release Radar or at the top of her Spotify page. Any Madonna fan that didn’t follow her on socials or came on here wouldn’t even know they’re available. Let’s call it what it is. A shite marketing strategy that gives the songs a quarter of the streams they did prior to the changes.
  6. Oh Madonna herself seems much more of a fan of the debut than Like A Virgin She's managed to canonise Burning Up and Everybody to well known low key signature songs of hers as well as pay respects to Physical Attraction over the years. While LAV album usually gets ignored outside of the two behemoths and occasionally Dress You Up.
  7. The weird thing is Guy O said all commitments are on hold. But it seems he literally just meant the tour. There's been nothing else.
  8. Actually a steady upload of her tours to streaming music and video over period of The Celebration tour would have been a great way to celebrate her live legacy. I really think the time for Physical Tour releases of past tours has passed sadly, but streaming is cost efficient and increases her presence and numbers for the next album drop. Even the Prince and estate have uploaded live stuff to streaming with no physicals. It's a fan curio tbh. I do think Spotify need a LIVE section on their categories.
  9. Interesting that you mentioned this and she wore the vogue basque to the Oscar’s party
  10. Would you consider a video edit an official edit?
  11. Oh wow I never realised the video version is an edit of the song. its like nearly a minute shorter than the single mix but still includes the best bit "now I know your mine" unlike the Immaculate Collection version. I will never forgive Shep for that horrendous edit.
  12. considering her streaming numbers 4 MINUTES!!! but also Candy Shop Hollywood
  13. Angel (radio edit) Dress You Up (remix edit) Live To Tell (7" edit) Papa Don't Preach (radio edit) Open Your Heart (7" remix) True Blue (radio edit) Causing A Commotion (silver screen single edit) and my OCD around her 80's single edits can calm down (though Like A Prayer (7" version with fade) will forever bother me by not being included on the digital EP.) also interesting that "Lucky Star" (7" Edit) - 3:44 was shorter than the 7" edit digital released which was 3:53 and where did that Holiday 3:50 edit on the digital version of the debut actually come form. I can't see it listed anywhere online? Was it just a radio edit?
  14. Into The Groove has actually had a lot of stuff on its various formats "Into the Groove" (Single Version) – 4:43 "Shoo-Bee-Doo" (LP Version) – 5:16 "Physical Attraction" (Single Edit) – 3:55 "Who's That Girl" (Extended Version) – 6:29 "Causing a Commotion" (Silver Screen Mix) – 6:39 "Into the Groove" (Extended Remix) – 8:31 "Into the Groove" (Remix Dub) – 6:22 "Everybody" (Extended Remix) – 7:06 "Everybody" (LP Version) – 4:52 Into The Hollywood Groove I so hope it gets its only release and isn't lumped in with Angel as this artwork is just too Iconic.
  15. Live To Tell and Into The Groove back to back next. My two fave Madonna songs coming in quick succession. I know that’s right
  16. I've never loved I'll Remember but it really was significant in the way that it was a Pat Leonard written single that was remixed by Orbit. It really was a precursor to Ray Of Light in a way his Justify & Erotica remixes never were. I'm positive that listening to his work on this song led her to the decisions around the Ray Of Light direction. Taking what is a traditional slightly syrupy ballad (much like a lot of the ROL demos) and giving it some edge.
  17. Don’t ever let anyone fucking tell you being gay is a curse or something to be ashamed of. Because life is wonderful and gay dreams come true. yall cutting onions im crying over here. My two moms. This was too beautiful to witness and you could tell there was genuinely love for each other there. blessed x
  18. I think the most logical way forward for her is to write a huge single with someone like Max Martin as a solo version and then have a bunch of remixes with big artists. Then add remixes / versions at two week intervals to keep momentum up and then the song has to do its own work. released every two weeks. Max Martin single solo version (single edit) club remixes big feature (Ariana / Katy / Weekend / Bad Bunny) etc Club remixes with features Acoustic Version Sped up / Slowed down for the tacky-tockers Music Video Whatever she does it needs constant traction.
  19. This segued version is exquisite and always made me enjoy the album so much more https://on.soundcloud.com/kh8YZ
  20. Guys it takes at least two weeks before you submit to Spotify for a track to be available. Any requests at this point for a back cat release will have missed the boat.
  21. The rest of the True Blue singles on streaming will really be such a serve. I just want those iconic single covers on streaming. Also I hope this shit is wrapped up by xmas.
  22. Bedtime was always one of her best albums to listen to all the way through as a mood piece. It's aged like wine. Hard Candy has aged like milk.
  23. Something about Hard Candy felt like sucking the sweet with the wrapper still on. Objectively there are a handful of decent enough songs on there but there’s something hugely off about it. It really was the first time I felt she’d missed the mark with something she’d usually excel at. American Life was not easily digestible either but it felt like she was really trying something different. Hard Candy should have been a home run. I suppose part of me is pissed at timberland for saying it was like her debut and the idea oh him and pharrel seemed unstoppable considering the run of amazing albums they’d just had with other artists. Sadly the entire era was less than the sum of its parts. and I’m still pissed she passed up the Pet Shop Boys writes to deliver what we’d got. When it fact some Pet Shop Boys writes would have given the album the edge it really needed.
  24. yeah I left of Rain & I'll Remember because of Something To Remember. You can't really leave Take A Bow off though eh.
  25. She’s been spotted in and out of the studio and has offered up pictures of her and max. Non of us knew about the Popular video eh? It’s entirely possible she’s got loads of stuff done with Pat, Honey, Stuart, Mike Dean, Max, Abel, Sickick and we know nothing about it. She’s had five years. I just don’t buy she hasn’t been working on musical stuff all this time at all.
