Like a lot of her albums(erotica, im breathless) this didnt really grab me very much at the time(being a fan since 1987 i was excited though ! ) - a lot of the songs weren't very catchy but i loved the ambient sound of it - i think drowned world is the song that has stuck with me the most over the years and it still is one of my favourite tracks of her - i love the way it starts off very quiet and then gradually builds - i love songs like that - i also love the japan bonus track "has to be" way more than songs like skin(which i hate - sorry) it was a special time and its the first time i can remember her being not only critically successful but also commercially - imo the singles didn't do very well probably because they werent really "radio" friendly especially NRM, DW & POG -  Frozen only did well because it was the lead off single i think - rol was a hit mainly because of its video - i remember watching the mtv awards where she won big and all i can think is why didnt she get this many awards for far better videos like vogue,open your heart, bad girl, take a bow, rain ? again it just shows mtv care more about popularity than actual artistic merit - sure rol is a good video but i think she has done way better videos than this - i actually preferred garbages' video of push it more at the time and think they should have won?

@wtg1987HAHAHA! I agree with you on DW/SFL! It's THE best album (and subsequent tour) opener ever! Love the eerie, windy, early dawn ambient sounds followed by chimes, melodic bleeps and like you said... builds on to the amazing trip hop inspired ballad production by William Orbit! That song & POG & Frozen are all AMAZING AMAZING productions. I'm just happy M got a re-conaissance of who she is as an artist at a time when she may have well been "fading away" due to the ruckus of the Erotica era. So happy we have THIS masterful work from her

This album and especially the singles had QUALITY and ORIGINALITY written all over. It was the era when she was the most in phase with (interesting) musical trends, her age, her looks, her personal and public life, her spirituality, the age of her fans, MTV, the press and the whole "end of the millenium" vibe. Stars don't align perfectly so often. I get you're not very much into this album and prefer bubblegum hits, but to state that "the songs weren't very catchy" is a quite inappropriate point of view.

I am a big my fan of MJ. I have lots of VHS tapes and cassettes too. Take your pick. Haha ? 

also the WTG Florence was last show in fact at the end of Holiday she toasts with Champagne with the band and dancers . Ciao Italia is just a mix of Turin and Florence with a teeny bit of Japan thrown in it (Go figure!!). 

The ciao italia concert is a mess - the audio is fantastic though but its definitely been pumped up on certain songs - i agree die hard fans(like me)really have a huge fondness for this tour - i was too young to see it and everytime i see footage of it-  i feel sad that i was never part of it live - i would love to have  a soundboard from the wembley gigs - i wonder if Pat Leonard recorded it on tape ??

@wtg1987The Ciao Italia audio is definitely great -- but altered in some ways lol. Pat Leonard did the mixing for it but not sure if there are HQ soundboards of the Wembley shows. I was just listening to the LQ Florence audio... OMG! Electrifying

I just simply enjoy it love the organic sound, their voices blend well together its catchy

@gabvinet Exactly. Although I'm not that fond of Madonna's "falsetto" ish vocal on the song -- similar to that vocal style heard on Human Nature and Mother & Father. Lol but I guess it works. That duet was groundbreaking at the time lol

@G House Yes MEDELLIN is a different kind of "reggaeton." And yes something along the lines of Callaita or just anything prodcued by Tainy is just pure latin pop magic! ROSALIA and MADONNA would be the ultimate collab! Wow!

all the versions of this song sound pretty messy tbh. still a good track tho. i think the demo sounded much more light hearted than the final.

Lol... I won't worry. In the end, the genre will end up being just MADONNA. Let it will be and will be good. New music just means evolution and perseverance after 4 decades of presence.

for me its the internet and so my grammatical knowledge goes out the window and i constantly use runon sentences such as this leaving out all punctuation and the like and as for snarky many times i want to be but i hit delete so i dont get banned lol

Janet deserves everything she gets. Nobody can touch her choreography... Its always fresh and intricate without being ridiculous like all these youtube dance videos these kids put out. She might not have had a proper hit in the 10's yet, but her music is still great.

Same. It was November 12th 2005 when it was released back there in the Philippines and I took the bus from my town to the next capital city just to buy the album. It was only 250 pesos. The entire music store had Madonna COADF posters, it was heaven.

Then she later said "Now to the more important part of this... who wants to buy my product? I'm a soccer mom and now I'm also a salesgirl now." Something along those lines. She interacted with the fans who went to buy products from her for about 1 min each. She was waving and saying hi to us though
