  1. Unless we actually know M personally, I think it is better not to comment on her relationships. Especially current ones. I know that we just want what is best for her, but I think some things are better left unsaid. Maybe a couple years from now, we can look back in retrospect and say something, but we aren't in a position to say anything right now.
  2. Rest In Peace. The Papa Don't Preach video has always been a fave of mine.
  3. Oh, I love this question! For me, it's a tie between Erotica/Bedtime Stories/Ray of Light. She was so powerful in the 90's. Each era was so different and so unique. All three albums were also amazing. The Erotica era was a bit sad because of the crazy negativity she got from the public during that time, but I feel that her message of sex positivity was really timeless. There will always be people who are scared of talking about sex and being open about it and the Erotica era still poses important questions that can really help those who want to be sex positive actually become sex positive. She broke barriers and a lot of women in the industry wouldn't be able to talk about sex in an artistic way if M hadn't been the one to take the first bite. It was also a really fun era. She had a lot of iconic looks and she was so unapologetic. I just love it! The Bedtime Stories era was a little bit strange as well, but it's still so special to me. She was still dealing with the negativity from the Erotica era, and she came back with a bang when people thought she never would! Take A Bow is still her longest running number 1 on the Billboard charts. I love her style from this era. She looked gorgeous! There are so many iconic things about the Bedtime Stories era. The music videos, the Letterman interview, her resilience. The Ray of Light era was the first era that I really got into while I was on my journey through Madonna's discography. The birth of Lola brought such a glow to M. Motherhood brought out the best in her. She just felt so peaceful and calm. I love all the interviews from the Ray of Light era. It really was a great era for her, and again another successful one as well!
  4. This was sooo hard, but at the moment, mine are: -Live to Tell -Secret -Bad Girl -Erotica -Frozen -Take A Bow -Paradise (Not for Me) -Love Tried to Welcome Me -Sorry -Nothing Really Matters
  5. I'm thankful for her creativity, her strength, her passion for what she does. She has given us the gift of her art and I am very grateful. I hope that she feels better soon and that she takes the time she needs.
  6. I would say that the SEX book controversy has been the most impactful on M's career. Now, it seems that people still find ways to use it against her, whether it's in jokes or whatever else. I don't think the general public ever really got over her releasing the SEX book, which still annoys me. The Justify My Love video controversy is also another one that is really important for me. The way she handled herself during all of the controversy was so commendable. She was eloquent and intelligent, which was the last thing they wanted her to be, and I love her for it! I think the controversy that surrounded Like A Virgin at the time also helped M reach her status in the industry. It was really groundbreaking for a woman, especially a young woman to sing what she sang and to perform the way she did in front of a conservative America.
  7. Spike Lee in Brooklyn and Shania Twain mentioned recently on her Instagram stories that she saw M in Vegas.
  8. The Girlie Show pixie is one of my favourite M haircuts of all time. I also like her hair for the Re-Invention Tour, Drowned World Tour and the MDNA Tour.
  9. I was so sad to see that there weren't more nominations for her, but one is better than nothing, I suppose.
  10. They are both so beautiful for different reasons and both a part of one of M's best albums. They were also very instrumental in why I love her so much. But, I'll say Frozen because I feel that, lyrically, it is a slightly* better song. But, Ray Of Light, I still love you!
  11. Drowned World/Substitute For Love vs. Hung Up Swim vs. Get Together Ray of Light vs. Sorry Candy Perfume Girl vs. Future Lovers Skin vs. I Love New York Nothing Really Matters vs. Let It Will Be Sky Fits Heaven vs. Forbidden Love Shanti/Ashtangi vs. Jump Frozen vs. How High The Power of Good-Bye vs. Isaac To Have and Not to Hold vs. Push Little Star vs. Like It or Not Mer Girl vs. History Has to Be vs. Super Pop Be Careful vs. Fighting Spirit Two of her best albums!
  12. My faves are Massive Attack, Maluma, Lenny Kravitz, Britney and Babyface. I can remember 4 Minutes with Timberlake being really popular when it came out and it was considered to be a cool song. It's still played sometimes. So, points to 4 Minutes for that. People don't always realize that sometimes it's actually good for Madonna to collaborate with the most popular artists of the time because it opens up her fanbase a bit and gives the general public something to notice. I think it's a good choice on her part.
  13. I saw this and I was very happy to see two of my favorite female artists in the Top 5. Both Mariah and Madonna are very successful artists. I think it comes down to taste at the end of the day. If you don't like Mariah, then you'll disagree with her position. She does have more number ones + the record that she had with One Sweet Day and also the Artist of the Decade + Song of the Decade awards Billboard gave her. I do agree that Madonna had a larger cultural impact and her songs are more known/memorable to the public, but I do think that Mariah deserves her credit, too.
  14. Love this! Both albums make up my top two M albums and both are two of my fave albums of all time! Erotica vs. Survival Fever vs. Secret Bye Bye Baby vs. I'd Rather Be Your Lover Deeper and Deeper vs. Don't Stop Where Life Begins vs. Inside of Me Bad Girl vs. Human Nature Waiting vs. Forbidden Love Thief of Hearts vs. Love Tried to Welcome Me Words vs. Sanctuary Rain vs. Bedtime Story Why's It So Hard vs. Take a Bow In This Life vs. Freedom Did You Do It? vs. Let Down Your Guard Secret Garden vs. Your Honesty
  15. Wonderful thread! I used to think that Like A Virgin was overplayed, but recently, I have grown to love it! LAV, Material Girl, Love Don't Live Here Anymore and Dress You Up are my favorites. This era definitely helped catapult Madonna into her icon status.
  16. That's awesome. It's cool to know someone shares my experience.
  17. Loves: Bedtime Stories, Ray of Light, Erotica, COADF Not-So-Great: MDNA, Music (I like the albums, but they could have used better titles)
  18. Great question! Madonna is the queen of music videos. I'd say Like A Prayer, Bad Girl, Secret, Human Nature and Crave to get an all-around feel of her art and the themes she uses. I actually had a friend of mine watch the Bad Girl music video once (they happened to be quite unfamiliar with M's work) and they absolutely loved it! A great first introduction, in my opinion.
