Yes, I think she should find someone who has the time to more closely focus on her career and guide her. Don’t most artists at Madonna’s superstar level have managers who primarily focus on them? I personally think it’s great that she takes an interest in trying to understand how younger people interact with technology instead of just throwing her hands up and saying I’m too old to understand as a lot of older artists do.

The interview was a little vague on that point. It didn’t say whether or not she would be making a new album to go with the tour. I always thought she would tour when the movie soundtrack came out which would have a few new songs, but the movie seems to be taking a long time.

She can do both. A conventional Reissue of albums and some new remixes to introduce her music to a new generation. She’s not a pure nostalgia artist, she’s going to find a way to put a modern spin on it to keep it interesting for herself.

I don’t remember her ever saying she wasn’t inspired making Rebel Heart. She said it was a difficult album to make because she worked with a lot of different artists who had other projects at the same time. I don’t believe she dislikes MDNA and Rebel Heart because she performed a lot of them on the accompanying tours. Why would she perform something she hates, instead of more of her older material which would make the tours more successful and be met with more of a positive response from fans.

I remember the Japan one, but I didn’t think that would count for the US MTV Awards. What are the MTV Millennial Awards? I don’t recall that at all.

I still don’t understand the hysterical reaction to braids. I started braiding my hair and it really helped with stopping it from getting so tangled, split ends and breaking off. I think that has something to do with her wearing that style. It wasn’t her finest live moment but I think people over reacted. It wasn’t as bad as everyone said.

Was the problem the braids or the actual performance, missing cues etc?

What is the big issue with the braids? It’s a practical hairstyle if you have longer hair that might be a bit damaged from coloring. It protects your hair and stops it from getting tangled and breaking off as much.

I like it. Does it have her vocals on it? It’s hard to tell.

It would have been considered normal for a younger pop star, but not for someone of her age. Her wearing leotards was criticized a lot at the time.

Yes, but I think the ageism hit long before Eurovision. Maybe if she isn’t as focused, rehearsed and professional now as she was, it’s because she knows no matter how hard she works she won’t have the commercial success she used to. So maybe she is like f it, I just want to enjoy myself.

When she was dancing around in the leotard in the Hung Up Video was that being a “normal person” ?

Tori and Madonna just have a different writing style. It doesn’t mean one is more intelligent than the other. Tori tends to write more esoteric lyrics especially later in her career, whereas Madonna is more straightforward, universal and thus relatable. Can you really explain what all of Tori’s lyrics are about? For awhile Tori’s lyrics were so odd and esoteric that I had no idea what she was talking about and this couldn’t connect with them. Just because you don’t know what something means doesn’t make it deep and intelligent. Sometimes I think she just wrote random words that she herself didn’t even know what they meant. I would say it’s a lot harder to write universal lyrics that people connect with. Tori’s last album Ocean to Ocean was her best in years in no small part to the fact that she abandoned the esoteric style and wrote direct personal lyrics about her mother’s death and her struggle with depression during lockdown.

I don’t think it will have that dramatic an impact because a lot of people won’t see it because it’s not on national tv or in a stadium before thousands of people.

What was wrong with it?

She wrote down X-Static Process on her Instagram story. I can’t see her doing that, but it would be great if she did. I love that song!

Do streaming services allow you to release DVDs. I don’t know anyone that still has a DVD player.

Are we going to be able to see this? Do they allow phones? Will it be professionally filmed? Or do we have to rely on cell phone video? I hope people can enjoy it without ripping it apart.

Pride last year wasn’t an actual performance. Just her having fun in a club.
