An ideal "Rebel Heart" (Let's fix it!)

I see that "Rebel Heart" is a very polarizing album with all its ups and downs.

I love it to a certain extent, but it's not a "Confessions on a Dance Floor" for me.

I dislike it to a certain extent, but I don't hate it as much as I hate "MDNA".

So, I made up my own ideal version of it. It is as follows:

1. Living for Love (with no "fart" sounds)

2. Devil Pray

3. Ghosttown

4. Unapologetic Bitch (with no "fart" sounds)

5. Hold Tight

6. Iconic (with no gothic "fart" sounds)

7. HeartBreakCity

8. Joan of Arc

9. Best Night

10. Wash All over Me

11. Messiah

12. Rebel Heart

=deluxe edition bonus tracks=

13. Illuminati

14. Inside Out

15. Body Shop

16. Beautiful Scars

17. Borrowed Time

18. Addicted

19. Rebel Heart (Avicii Remix)

Do you have a preference like this? We have 23 official tracks and so many outtakes. So, anyone could come up with their own versions. Especially you, @@Stevie B

I actually like your alternative version @@Turuncan ! What happened to bitch I'm Madonna? Completely omitted?

For me, a perfect album should be quality not quantity and that's what made Madonna's earlier albums so special. Usually around 8 to 14 top quality tracks.

23 tracks on rebel heart is just ridiculous and unlistenable and the whole Rebel/Heart dance/ballad split doesn't do it for me.

I don't like the production on a lot of the tracks. Bitch I'm Madonna sounds unfinished (just my opinion). Wash over me sounds like a demo, and Iconic has terrible lyrics (a bit of a cliche heavy updated "like it or not" ) and I hate the production. The demo versions were better of some tracks - rebel heart and messiah.

My choice would be:
Living For Love
Devil Pray
Ghost town
Unapologetic Bitch
Hold tight
Heartbreak City
Joan of Arc
Best night
Messiah (demo version)
Rebel heart (avicii version)

Overall it isn't one of my favourite albums. I rarely listen to it.

The only standout tracks for me were devil pray and ghosttown. Living for love is my least favourite lead single alongside Give me all your luvin

Sorry for the negativity! :/
I'm sure the album brings joy to lots of fans, but not me on this occasion!

Yes, I regard 'Bitch I'm Madonna' as never happened. Ever.   I do the same for 'S.E.X.', 'Holy Water', and the whole "MDNA" album as well.  :Madonna003: And 'Veni Vidi Vici' is just an outtake, or maybe a b-side if b-sides still exist.

It's a tempting idea to play with, I'd omit a lot of the tracks such as BIM, Holy Water and whatever else is on there I don't like. But I think I'd also produce it completely differently, mainly it's the production that makes me dislike much of the album. Holy Water could do with an entirely different vocal take and production, same with Ghosttown whilst Body Shop and Nothing Last Forever just need different production to make them listenable. Never Let You Go is a keeper though, along with Tragic Girl and Inside Out.

I love if she would kept her original vision with one CD Rebel and one CD Heart. That would be so much better than randomly mix all those different sounding songs together. Plus I prefer the Avicii versions of the song Rebel Heart and WAOM. Also I like Diplos mix of BIM more than the mix on the album.

I actually like most final versions from Rebel Heart, I just think it has too many songs. I understand why tho... she first intended to make a double album - which explains the big amount of music. Anyway, personaly, I have nothing against Rebel Heart. I think it's a nice album, but nothing more than that. Kinda forgetable. I would pick these ones:

1. Living For Love

2. Devil Pray

3. Ghosttown

4. Unapologetic Bitch

5. Bitch, I'm Madonna

6. Hold Tight

7. Joan of Arc (Demo)

8. Iconic

9. Heartbreak City

10. Holy Water

11. Inside Out (Demo)

12. Beautiful Scars (Demo)

13. Addicted

14. Wash All Over Me

15. Messiah

16. Rebel Heart (Demo)

I like Body Shop and S.E.X. but I think the album could handle without them lol

I really wouldn't change the tracklisting. It should have just been a double album like Madonna wanted.  Essentially with the Deluxe and Super Deluxe, she got it anyway.  But I think the album would have had been more cohesive if it was split up the way she wanted.  "Best Night" is the only track I would ditch.  I rather have seen the Deluxe just being the standard album and the Super Deluxe be just the Deluxe.  All these different versions just makes it confusing for the consumer.  Especially when you have the standard version that doesn't even contain the title track "Rebel Heart"?  How ridiculous is that.

I loved the singles they chose.  The songs were very friendly and if radio was more on board with an older artist playing on top 40, then those singles would have been top ten.  I would only have added "Rebel Heart" as a single too.  The videos were perfect.  "Rebel Heart" could have been the final single and using the live DVD cut from the Rebel Heart Tour would have made a perfect video.  Would have been good promo for the tour as well.

It's not a bad record and I prefer it over Confessions and maybe even Madame X (though a strong fight). The issue aside from the leaks is the too many cooks in the kitchen motif. I wish she had stayed with perhaps just Aviici and Diplo for the bulk of the record and kept it that way. I can commend what Kanye and others did to transform some of the tracks but to keep it cohesive and such, the double album approach should have happened. Marina did it with Love + FEAR so it would have made more sense and the plethora of photos representing both sides would have been nice

Deluxe and Super Deluxe should have been the only options since the standard is useless and Madonna prefers the deluxe the representation of the album. As for the promo, I would have done things differently and not sent the first six batch of songs for sale especially Ghosttown having been the only song not to leak. If she didn't want to alter Living For Love's plans already set for February, it would have been nice to release Ghosttown first, then do the promo route for Living For Love before moving onto the final singles. It made no sense to include them in the six song bundle and then expect them to be purchased again when they were chosen as singles.

I've been working on a "Rebel Heart: Revisited" playlist for a while, and this is what I created. I tried to include all of the songs from the album as a version that I preferred and that had some what of a cohesive sound to the rest of the record, although I left off Messiah because I simply cannot stand that song. I also rejigged it to give the album a better flow.
