Bedtime Stories: Don't Stop, Love Tried To Welcome Me and Your Honesty

Come on now, it's one of her all-time worst.

Gang Bang would have been a horrible single choice, the cheap production, the drag queen vocals and the nursery rhyme lyrics have no commercial value whatsoever, it would have been trashed by the media more than the other singles of the album.

isn't Physical Attraction A Promo single from YCD or is not? I think i've seen something like that. Not quite but i must get info

Edit: Nevermind. Spotlight was the only single.

In Japan.  It wasn't a single anywhere else.  But radio still played it elsewhere and it charted in the U.S. simply because of that.

And I know that I made some few suggestions that I thought would have made good singles, but in the end, thank goodness we fans aren't in charge of her career.  She would have imploded and never been heard from again.  LOL!  Earlier in her career, she already was over-saturating the market.  I do think "Where's The Party" would have become a single, but that's if Who's That Girl didn't come along.  I wouldn't change that for anything.  It may have been a bomb of a movie, but I love it anyway and I love the songs it's produced.  So yeah, I'm actually happy how things turned out so far in her career.  She's still making music and she's still making waves. It may not be at the impact of how she used to make waves, but she's still doing it.  People will always be fascinated with her.  And I don't see Madonna toning it down due to her age.  I think she will only push back more at all the negative stereotypes and society views of an aging pop star.

Personally I'm very content with the chosen singles from MadonnaLike A Virgin and True Blue, so I'll start with...

Like A Prayer - Spanish Eyes

I'm Breathless - He's A Man

Erotica - (1) Thief Of Hearts, (2) Why's It So Hard, (3) Secret Garden

Bedtime Stories - (1) Don't Stop, (2) Love Tried To Welcome Me

Ray Of Light - (1) Swim, (2) To Have And Not To Hold

Music - (1) I Deserve It, (2) Amazing, (3) Paradise (Not For Me)

American Life - Intervention

Confessions On A Dancefloor - Future Lovers

Hard Candy - (1) Beat Goes On, (2) Voices

MDNA - (1) I'm Addicted, (2) Some Girls

Rebel Heart - Best Night

A video for 'Voices' would have been amazing. When I listen to it I always imagine Justin Timberlake being kept on a leash...

Rebel Heart.

I dont understand how we didnt get a ton of remixes and a video for THE track that sums up Madonna’s life and career.

Avicii Heart couldve been among those released.

Of all the criticisms from fans, this is the one I am 100% baffled by as well.  Granted, the leaks just screwed things up, but "Rebel Heart" (the song) is probably the most friendliest/relateable song to the general public on the album and very Madonnaesque.  The song should have been part of the standard album and should have either kicked off the album or was the third single.  At the same time,  I've always thought "Ghosttown" would have been a great first single as well.

But if I was Madonna, I would have taken Guy's advice, ignored the leaks and not release a 6 track set early.  (Especially saving "Ghosttown" for a single release closer to the album release).  Being the leaks happened she could have released in this manner:

Dec '14 - Rebel Heart single/lyric video release

Feb '15 - Living For Love single/video release

April. '15 - Ghosttown single/video release

April '15 - Release Album in either the Double album format she wanted or the Super Deluxe being Standard release

June '15 - Bitch I'm Madonna single/video release

Sept '15 -  Addicted single/video release

Nov  '15 - Joan of Arc single/video release

Feb '16 - Unapologetic Bitch single/video release (video cut from the tour)

May '16 - Devil Pray single/video release (original video or video cut from the tour)

Tour would have aired in Sept/Oct 2016 on Showtime, but released digitally and physically by November for the Holiday season.  Meanwhile the live promotional video performances of "Rebel Heart", "Candy Shop" and "Unapologetic Bitch" could have been released.

But of course, Interscope would not support her album in such a manner and rehearsals and tour would prevented her to devote much time to making original content videos.

Anymore, with radio pretty much abandoning her, it's really up to her to making original videos to get her music out there while performing as well.

How I miss the days artists used to release at least six singles from an album, each with a stunning video, tons of official remixes, some promo singles, videos from concerts, physical single releases...

Physical attraction was a single. In fact it was a double A side single with Burning Up but it was only played in clubs. In fact the remix for the single is the reason why she met Jellybean. The Reggie Lucas version was on the single but the maxi had the Jellybean remix that ended up on the album just like his remixof Burning up ended up on the album instead of the original Reggie Lucas mix which is the version on the Maxi single.I don't think Warner would have made a video for it since they already had a big budget video for Burning up and it did not well so they moved on to the next single...without a video...Holiday.

I think the Like a virgin era could not have had another single released since she had so many singles in the charts at the same time which confused the people (Into the groove, crazy for you, gambler being non album tracks).

I wish she would have skipped the True Blue single and released Open your heart earlier instead and Where's the party after that with a video followed by La isla bonita. True blue should have stayed an album track.

Like a prayer is tricky.

I wish she would have released Like a prayer and Express yourself both with the Pettibone house edits as b sides.

And Oh Father would have done better with an unreleased track as a b-side (Just a dream ? Love attack ? First is a kiss ?) like Cherish with Supernatural.

Why's it so hard would have made a better single choice than Fever and the video for it would have suited it better.

Remixes of album tracks would have also helped the single and maxi sales if added like the Waiting remix. the Rain radio remix is bad and she should have made an acoustic version of it instead because it suited the era best.

She should have released something else than Take a bow in Europe because it was not the market for it at the time. And again, more unreleased tracks on b sides like Let down your guard on Secret (that should have been on the album anyway).

Skin should have been a single.

In a perfect world she would have not made the next best thing but since she did Time stood still would have been a better single than american pie

Impressive instant and Paradise too.

Nobody Knows me the Stuart Price remix from the Reinvention tour should have been accompanying that tour.

Hollywood a full lyrics Thin White Duck remix as the single version.

NOT THAT VIDEO for Love Profusion.

Get together should have had a better video and a better release because it's a classic that was lost on the GP.

Definitly i'm addicted instead of GGW.

Rebel Heart needed unapologetic bitch.
