I think streaming might be too her advantage now especially in the UK where they have changed the chart rules to include YouTube video streams. If Bitch I'm Madonna was eligible then for video streams she would of charted higher, that's my opinion anyway or I'm just hoping too much

Come to terms with her legacy? In case you haven't noticed, she's putting together her biopic. So she's revisiting her past in her own way, at her own pace and in the way she wants to do it.  Moreover, I think she's actually been flirting with her legacy for a while, just not in a very obvious way (which is her right too). She often likes to reuse her old lyrics (like "Vogue" on "Holy Water", or even "Don't Tell Me" in "Future"), posts old photos on her IG, and I'm pretty sure Madame X is t

Honestly, I think her disdain of deeply revisiting her past has now reached a point of backfiring. In the politics of women in music, Madonna managed to maintain relevancy chart wise well past the "expiration" years because she still had killer hits and the appeal to back her up. But there was a shift in her public persona that started during MDNA where some of the things she said or did for shock-value or controversy came across as desperate and/or an attempt to keep up with Katy, Gaga, Beyonce

And I mean as much as you can. Create playlists with both of the songs, but always put 2-3 different tracks in between them so they don’t get filtered out. Play on atleast 25% volume 2. Buy the songs on itunes if you can. Purchase all the versions available. This will boost the song

You mean in the sense that she used to have hit singles? No. She'll still place highly on dance charts and the like, but I don't believe she'll ever have another HUGE, worldwide hit.

Yeah but she's at Eurovision this year and that's watched by about a billion people all over the world

If the new single gets a good reception and is radio-friendly, she could still crack the top 10 of the European charts. But a hit at the level of 4 Minutes (her last real one), I don’t see it.

I don’t think she’ll ever have a Top 40 hit in the US again either.

Nobody outside US watches Superbowl and MDNA didn't bomb it reached number 1 in US and UK and other countries

It was streamed online you know, lol. I watched it live from China when I was there. And yes, MDNA hit number one in the UK in its first week (Im not sure about the US chart info), but it only ever spent three weeks in the top 10 before drifting out of the charts... MDNA being Madonna's fastest album descent out of the UK charts. The album, to date, has only racked up 2 million sales worldwide... her second lowest album sales in her entire career. I'd call that a bomb. And the Superbowl performance (one of the most watched TV broadcasts in the world... with a viewership of over 110m in the US alone), didn't help much. Who knows, maybe Eurovision will be different, but Im skeptical... but hopeful. If she wants a hit, she needs to make it so radio friendly that even the more hostile stations couldn't ignore it. Its possible.

You know what I mean, though, don't you? Did you hear that song all over the radio? We're talking about a HIT.

Yes, as I said, 4 Minutes was her last real hit and will remain so. But there’s huge difference between the performance of GMAYL and Living for Love which was a true bomb.

If you like the music, then what does it matter if it's a hit or not? Does her commercial success validate you in some way?

As for me, of course if the music is good I’m satisfied. That’s what matters most.

But as a fan, I want the artist I like to be successful because it makes me happy to see other people like it. Especially with Madonna because she used to rule the charts but ageism (and in the case of MDNA, bad music, but that doesn’t stop popular young artists) has prevented her singles from becoming successful for a while now.

Attacks on her will never stop but a hit would truly prove to the naysayers that she’s far from done. No female artist her age continues to produce hit singles and it will be interesting to see whether Rihanna, Lady Gaga or some other young popstar can still hit #1 when they’re in their fifties.

So yes, commercial success of the new single would make me happy. It’s not as important as the quality of the music but it’s not irrelevant.

I want to see her succeed and I want to see the public recognise what an artist she is. I get the feeling most people nowadays think "oh yeah she was good back in the day but she's lost it now. She looks desperate".

Anyway I think it's unlikely that she will have another hit now, unless it's a duet with a popular artist like 4 minutes
