Madame X Tour Songs Expectations

Yes, but not as tour opener. I hate it when tours are being opened by songs that are not from the supporting album.

Anyway, Rescue Me really should have been performed at The Girlie Show. That tour's setlist was too short and very boring honestly. It could have worked very well in the sailor section instead of I'm Going Bananas.

Id love her to do Rescue Me I do think she would have to pre-record that song if it was an openor similiar to Vogue Future Lovers and GGW. I don't think she has as strong vocals as she did back in 1990 when the song was released on the IC.

I think her vocals are quite good on this - i think a mashup with this and Words would be a great opening(Using the words outro verse of course) these are my 2 fave pettibone songs

I dunno about opening number but there's so much you can do with this wonderful song.

I always visualize it in a dramatic Titanic-inspired setting with the dancers appropiately dressed as sailors and water elements but one could also forsee a 'political' remix interlude a la Don't Talk Don't Speak or Nobody Knows Me.

It's the closing track of her biggest -selling album and a fan favorite, so why not?.

Do you mean they would be quite good on it if she samg it live rather then pre-recorded? How strange those are my two favourite songs by Shep to! ?

We must be kindred spirits then - I listen to those songs ( plus shame which I also love) more than any other of her shep songs - I think a studio version mash up of those songs would be amazing for a tour maybe a backdrop ?

My top 15 in order of release date.

1982, Everybody- it’s funky, it’s catchy, it was her first single. This song takes us back to the early 80s, to the streets of New York right after disco, and right when the AIDS epidemic started. This song could bring her back to where she began. Back full circle to that starving artist she once was tearing up the dance floors with her demo tape at places like Danceteria.

1983, Think of Me- This is just a great funky dance song that takes us back to the early 1980s streets and dance floors of NYC. It never was a single, and never got its place in the sun. Now is a perfect time for this funky gem to be discovered again.

1984, Borderline- no explanation needed. She needs to bring this back.

1985, Crazy for You-  This little sweet song showed us that Madonna had a soft side, that she could sing, and it takes us back to the memory of early loves.

1985, Gambler and Live to Tell-  Gambler is a Rock song and a dance song. It’s just a badass song that needs to be performed again. We cannot forget this one! I’d tie in Live to Tell with this song somehow, because they create a story together in my eyes.

1987, Who’s That Girl and Causing a Commotion- these two are fun, catchy, and showcase her fun Latin tinged roots in dance music. Perfect for this era.

1987, Spotlight- This song never became as big as it should have. It’s a beautiful song that shows her audience how special and important they are to her and the world!

1990, Rescue Me- it’s such a great song! No explanation needed, besides it being totally gay and showcasing the pride of gay life in the era of Vogueing.

1992, Whys it So Hard- BECAUSE the world needs this song right now!!!!! It’s an anthem for acceptance and freedom to be who you are and to love others for who they are!

1993, Rain- it needs to be remembered and it’s a beautiful song that showcases Madonna’s mermaid-like harmonies.

1995, Bedtime Story- I think it would fit in with this era because it was inspired by dreams and the art of Frida, Remedios Varo, and Leonara Carrington.. Latin surrealist like Paula Rego.

1999, Nothing Really Matters- Because it was a work of art, a beautiful song that showed her growth in becoming a mother and spiritualist. Plus it’s just one of her most highly fashioned looks!

2005, Jump- Because it’s lyrics are beautiful and because it’s so much fun!

2012, Some Girls- because it’s a fucking jam and never got its moment! It also shows her strength and resilience in the lyrics.

2015, Graffiti Heart- it brings us back to her early days when she was fresh off the streets of NYC, where her rebel heart became known. It’s a sweet homage to her past, to her artist friends back then.

In chronological order:

  1.  Angel - It peaked at #5 both in the US and UK but it gets overshadowed by the more iconic '80s singles. It's time that she gives a rest to Material Girl or LIB and brings back to life this great bop!
  2. Til Death Do us Part - It is one of her best album tracks ever and it would be a nice way to commemorate the LAP era. Again, she can give a rest to Express Yourself and let this bop shine !
  3.  Rain - Beautiful song that needs to be remembered.
  4. Why It so Hard - As the op says because it is the song that the world needs to hear RN.
  5.  Secret - A big hit that she hasn't been performed in a while and it can pay justice to the Bedtime Stories era.
  6.  Nothing Really Matters - Another big hit that would be nice to see performed again.
  7. Sky Fits Heaven - One of the best album tracks ever that was performed only during the DWT. It would be nice to see how she reinvents this song on stage. After all, she did a great job reinventing Candy Shop.
  8. Skin - Amazing song that deserves to be performed live at least once.
  9. To Have and Not to Hold - A beautiful song that would add a magical vibe.
  10. Die Another Day -  It is one of her greatest bops ever and I'd love to see  her dancing to this song again.
  11. Sorry - Another colossal bop and a worldwide smash hit. It is also my fav song from COADF and I believe it's time that it makes its return.
  12. How High - a rare gem that gets stacked in the head after the first listening and can easily let the crowd dance as if there is no tomorrow.
  13. Miles Away - This beautiful song can do justice for the HC era and showcase her always-improving guitar skills.
  14. Beautiful Killer - It's a great bop that worked extremely well with the crowd at the Olympia theater. It is perfect to make the crowd jump!
  15. Best Night - One of the best RH songs and it deserves justice for being ignored last time. Moreover, it would work well next to Skin because both song require the presence of sitar, which would be really dope to have on stage.

Wow! I completely forgot about “Borrowed Time”. I’d love to hear it live, even if it’s just for one date, as a surprise / fan request. If the new album is actually about politics, human rights & self-expression, it would be a great addition to the setlist. ?

That would be a strange concert if all 15 got picked.  Haha

You mean realistic or impossible desires?

Let's try a mix of the two:

Gambler (would sound great on rock guitar à la Burning Up)

Rescue me (I'd love a "apocalypse" theme)

Angel (I'd love a "paradise" theme)

Nothing really matters

I'll remember (get up, it's time now to aknowledge it)

Spanish eyes (do I have to justify this? no, but it's absolutely impossible)

Causing a commotion (I would say WTG, but we had it on RHT, and it didn't last long...)

Live to tell

Into the groove

Everybody

Girl gone wild

American life

You'll see

Beautiful stranger

Another suitcase or another Evita song
