Why hasn't the back catalog of all Madonna's remixes and EP's been uploaded on streaming sites or made available as digital downloads for purchase?

It would certainly help her musical legacy, her show attendance, her reputation, help garner new fans and augment her streaming numbers.

It's a wonder why nothing prior to 2005 is there. Where are the Erotica, Bedtime Stories, American Life and Ray of Light maxis? It would be awesome to be able to purchase these. Madonna remixes used to be such events.

But I do have a feeling they are coming. Someone know how to ask her management about this? It's the first thing I would ask.

I think we’ll see them released online as part of anniversary celebrations. We cannot be that long now until her masters are back in her hands and stuff starts being put online. They should 100% be available to purchase through ITunes before Spotify and then use the revenue to find the next physical reissue. Make it pay for itself.

It's a contractual thing. She renegociated her contract with Warner after the "American Life" album, the last one released under Maverick Records. iTunes and digital sales started around that time, 2003-2004. In 2005 she agreed to have her back catalogue of albums (not singles) on iTunes (the interview with Steve Jobs to promote it, etc.).

When she signed her new contract, Warner made sure they had the rights to release every single digitally too starting with "Hung Up". I guess that's not the case with all the pre-Confessions singles, so they'd have to sign a new contract to make them available on digital.

AND not only her, we don't know what kind of contracts were signed with each remixer so maybe it's all a big legal mess and it's not worth it for Warner.

Warner and Madonna always had these little things going on, anyway, remember when they rushed to release the Yellow CD singles in 1995 just before her original contract expired.

Anyway, it'd be great to have all of her singles and remixes on digital platforms, it's about time! :)

It was everywhere in 2004, the Maverick thing:

Maverick Records was a joint venture between Madonna, Frederick DeMann, Veronica "Ronnie" Dashev and Time Warner. When she left Maverick, she kept her contract with Warner.

Exactly where does it say they don't have the rights to release her previous singles/remixes? Or is this just an assumption people have made?

Just an assumption. But if Warner could have every pre-2005 single on Spotify and iTunes/Apple Music, don't you think they would?

Maybe. But there’s a lot of singles from the 80’s and 90’s that are not on streaming including Warner artists. So who’s knows really what the reason is. I am surprised the Record Store Day releases were not put on streaming, then at least Gambler would be available.

I think this is a good illustration of ‘over control’ some artists can have on their catalogue. In the long run, it only damages the artist as songs fade from public memory. The best extreme example is the Dave Clark 5, a huge British group in the 60s , whose catalogue is owned by Dave Clark. Their catalogue is barely existent on CD and only quite recently made digital. They briefly rivalled The Beatles in the US for a time but are pretty forgotten now as their music was so hard to come by for years.

With Madonna there must be something in her contract about Re-releases only mirroring a format they were released on previously.
