I remember this. It seemed SO sure to be Madonna by Billboard's choice of words in the article (works like "in vogue" or "icon)."

 

What's funny is Madonna fans were losing their minds saying how great of a song it sounded and how much they couldn't wait. Then when the artist was revealed, they trashed it and said it sounded lame anyways.

The song was a joke from the start.  But I remember how many people were convinced it was a Madonna song.  It wouldn't have been huge for Madonna, as nothing by that time would have been huge for her.  Her age prevents her from having anything huge, but maybe tours, and even that is not doing well lately.
