It was fresh and even edgy in DWT! Candy Perfume Girl was a great moment and something new from M. Even I Deserve It was lovely. Skip to RIT in 2004 with Burning up and Material Girl - sorry to say that I was genuinely getting a bit bored in the arena. Most guitar performances since DWT have struck me as taking the 'easy route' regarding performance. I'd much rather M strutting around the stage with freestyle choreography :)

However, I was pleasantly surprised that AL at MXT was one of the highlights!

But please don't even mention ROL on guitar...

I will admit next time we get Ray of Light I want her to basically Rave to it on stage

NO. She looks very fierce like in RHT Burning Up, but poor girl, she is so untalented when she plays guitar... I am not a specialist, but the position of the hand is uncorrect. After 20 years she can just play a few chords with very low technique.

And what we hear is normally Monte who doubles her.

But La Isla perfomance in DWT is amazing!

I like the slower acoustic guitar moments but the rock guitar moments aren’t as much of a highlight for me.

Really? I'm the opposite.
Although it's how it's arranged that makes a big difference...

BU on RIT sounded meaty and fleshy whereas on RHT it sounded like a cheap Ameritz karaoke track with some plastic chords on top.

I enjoyed both arrangements for Burning Up however RIT is definitely the superior. That said, the costume and scenery for RHT was far better imo.

But yeah, I definitely prefer the acoustic guitar moments to the rock guitar. For me, it’s a lot more emotive and she tends to do acoustic arrangements of her older songs really well. The acoustic segment on Re-Invention Tour, Paradise (Not for Me) on Confessions Tour, the flamenco section on the Rebel Heart Tour were all amazing for me. With the rock guitar, it’s either just not a standout moment for me or she literally destroys the original song, which is how I felt with every rock guitar arrangement on the Sticky & Sweet Tour.

I think it’s really great to see famous people’s other talents. Lizzo on flute? amazing.
I actually thought it was lovely when M was playing the Ukulele on RHT. Lately when she has a guitar with her she’s screaming her face off and calling everyone motherfuckers. But this was pleasant. I like pleasant guitar Madonna.

I can do without her on guitar for 3 reasons

1. She seems tense

2. That weird scraping the pick down over the strings that only hairbands did once or twice in the 80s

3. She seems to have to scream out motherf@@@@ every time she plays guitar.

But I guess I would rather that than no performance at all

I don't hate Madonna with a guitar, but I am far from loving it. She really isn't a great guitar player at all (after 20 years, her ability is still pretty much 'beginner level'), and she doesn't really have much of a 'rapport' with the instrument and looks so tense... her playing just seems very mechanical and lacks passion, she also relies on heavy support from Monte (or other guitarists) behind her. I tend to skip through her guitar playing segments on her tours. It was a nice gimmick on DWT, but should have been dropped after that.

ps... you may need to edit the poll as 'yes or no' aren't the correct responses for your question.
