I've seen a lot of fans either "like" or "dislike" this song? How do you feel on it? Also, let's take it to a POLL and rate it at Madonna Infinity.

In my opinion, it's not one of Madonna's best songs, but, I still like it a lot (and the lyrics too). So, I'm giving it a "B" grade. I remember last summer when Sirius XM played it on their Madonna channel during the release of Madame X. We were on a camping trip and it felt so cool listening to it on the radio. At the time, I remember thinking I hadn't played this song much and given it the attention like I should(what was I thinking?). So, here's to "Graffiti Heart".

Graffiti Heart

If graffiti on the wall changed anything at all
Then it would be illegal
If scars could go away
What would your body say
Don't ever hide your feelings

Ohh don't ever try to take my freedom
Ohh your imperfections, this world needs them

What do you got, show me your Basquiat
He didn't keep it all to himself
Even with Keith out on the street, he died fighting
So you can do it as well

Love is paint and paint is art
Show me your graffiti heart
Love is paint and paint is art
Show me your graffiti heart

Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa whoa whoa whoa, yeah
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa whoa whoa whoa, yeah

Frida showed her feelings
Painting from the ceiling
Back in the beginning
Nothing's what it seems
She painted all her dreams
She made her own reality

Ohh don't ever try to take my…

Ohh don't ever try to take my freedom
Ohh your imperfections, this world needs them

What do you got, show me your Basquiat
He didn't keep it all to himself
Even with Keith out on the street, he died fighting
So you can do it as well

Love is paint and paint is art
Show me your graffiti heart
Love is paint and paint is art
Show me your graffiti heart

Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa whoa whoa whoa, yeah
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa whoa whoa whoa, yeah

They can break down and take down
But they can't destroy our history
This wall, it must fall
To make room for our masterpiece

Love is paint and paint is art
Show me your graffiti heart
Love is paint and paint is art
Show me your graffiti heart

Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa whoa whoa whoa, yeah
Whoa whoa whoa whoa
Whoa whoa whoa whoa, yeah

If graffiti on the wall changed anything at all
Then it would be illegal

I like the idea of the song but thought the demo was better - love the verses but wish the chorus was stronger   - also there is a really obvious overdub on the album version where she has changed the lyrics from the demo and sounds like two different recording sessions- was surprised that was not picked up and fixed but think some of these changes to the demos were rushed through and done for the sake of making them different to what got leaked?

I like the idea of referencing "her" painters but the arrangement still sounds unfinished and the chorus is weak.

I think there were better demos that could make it into the album. Never let you go or Heaven.

To me it's between C and D...

And also can some explain to me the first line?

If graffiti on the wall changed anything at all then it would be illegal

So she is saying graffiti are legal because they can't change anything? I don't get it...

But Graffiti aren't illegal, are they? That's the point.

graffiti are illegal, because they can change something, they can be used to spread a powerful message or art, that's what M meant, but i feel like she forgot that the reason they are illegal is because they are used to deface private property with name tags and such, not for art lol

Exactly, but then why does she says "it would be illegal" as if they aren't?

I feel stupid... my bad English maybe...

Like @domo said ...

If graffiti did change anything it would be illegal... and it is illegal, so it does change things.  I think maybe she (or the writer) thought she was being clever, but it really just comes across as unnecessarily complicated like a double negative statement.

Let's put it this way then:

If we liked Madonna then we would join Infinity forum    :Madonna004:

Oh but she didn't write it. It's a famous quote by Bansky.
