Always love your work together with the others. :)

If I may ask, why is PAL better than NTSC in your opinion? I personally see no difference between the two.

The resolution is bigger. 720*576 against 720*480 ... And the fact that the show was recorded in Pal and not in Ntsc ... 25 interlaced against 29,97 interlaced ... To make that tranfer, you have to duplicate some demi-image and re-interlace everything ... It is ok to the eye but not when you watch it frame by frame ... Long story.

PAL was always consider superior in quality because of the stability of the signal and the higher resolution.

NTSC was renamed by video specialist Never Twice the Same Color ... You usually get those pinkish or greenish images in NTSC ... Never in PAL. Everything changed with digitalisation of the video signal and HD ... Same resolution for everybody, plenty of frame rate ... 23.97, 24, 25, 29.97, ...

Are you sure it was filmed in PAL ? HBO is a USA company so wouldn’t it have been filmed in ntsc ? I have the PAL laserdisc and I agree that The in house dvd is very poor quality and I’m not even sure if it was a genuine in-house dvd or maybe someone down converted it ?

I m 1000% sure it was shoot in PAL and edited in PAL. Just check the footage at edit/cuts of both versions.

The PAL is clean on every single cuts. The NTSC is most of the time interlaced on cuts, which is not possible when editing.

They used the same equipment as for the Barcelona show I guess.

I’m taking all of these AI upgrades and living my best life on my 65” tv with a chilled bottle of Chardonnay, a block of old cheddar and some homemade crusty bread. Maybe some butter. I can’t say. But maybe some butter.

Same. Watching this upscale in an HDTV is an experience.
