As many members have suggested here and i do agree, it should cover the era from her pre-fame days till the Blond Ambition. From unknown to queen of pop.

True, but I still think it needs to include the struggles of the Sex book and Erotica, show how she layed the ground for popstars today (so that in 2020 they can release WAP and noone thinks it's porn), being thrown down to the ground in 1992 and then held hign up to the sky in 1996, and also her longing for love, personal and spiritual transformation.. I guess that covers everything a film needs but is not too much.

Maybe it should end with Madonna coming back home to baby Lola and the Drowned World plays.. "Now I find I've changed my mind. This is my religion" just like in the music video.

Personally, and if she's indeed doing some sort of biopic, I would prefer if she'd stick to the pre-Madonna/The First Album years (leading up to the album release in the end). I think it's way too soon to do a full-on biopic and this way her most unknown years would be shed a light on, because the rest the whole world already knows anyway. I want to see the egg movie thing, her relationship with Basquiat, the mysterious trip to Paris... etc.

I thought that at first, but then it wouldn’t include a lot of her biggest most iconic hits such as Like a Prayer and Vogue. I think you want to show a younger audience why she is a legend and an icon and for that you have to include the height of her success. Otherwise people would think why are we watching a film about a struggling dancer and singer/songwriter.  I would say they should go up to the early 90’s, maybe with the release of the Immaculate Collection.  Or alternatively you could

The Erotica Years are pretty vital to her story. The way she was demonised as a woman. Much worse than anything from the 80’s. The film needs to shock a bit too. It’s also one of the periods we know least about what she was going through personally.  Letterman, Rodman, leaving America, Evita and Lola being born. I think anything after that may be dragging it out too far. Two decades is probably enough for the journey, with flashbacks to her youth rather than starting the story there. Open

10 hour long episodes at the trial of Madonna at the gates of Heaven in front of a female God. Witnesses throughout her life  appear giving  evidence and the jury played clips as evidence for and against. The cast could be endless. Now to me this would be exciting.

now that would make a good musical

Opening scene Being dropped off in time Sqaure. New York the late 70’s! Disco, dereliction.

Blond Ambition half way through film. Thinking you’ve won... then the backlash and rebirth.

Closing scene being a mother with Lola. Full circle moment to her own mother and the journey of a woman.

Ray Of Light music over the credits.

I don’t think that’s tooooo much for a two hour film. An hour a decade.

I'd like it too start with her arriving in New York back in the 1977 and ideally too end with the birth of Lola mainly cause id love to see the backlash she faced in the 90's with the SEX book and her bouncing back from that could easily be 3 hours long and id be happy with that

Madonna plays herself as the defendant

Oprah is God / Judge

Jury will be all that have passed before her including Elvis, Michael Jackson, Prince, Whitney, Andy Warhol, keith Haring, Versace, George Michael, Tupac etc...

Witnesses brought in to testify will include Gaga, Kylie, Britney, jlo, Christina, Justin Timberlake, dennis Rodman, Elton Jon, Gwyneth Paltrow, Blond Ambition dancers, Nikki & Donna, breakfast Club, Ricky Martin, Vanilla Ice, ex boyfriends, family etc..and of course Maureen McFarlane.

Her whole life really? Her whole career has been a testament to how she overcame obstacles and proved her naysayers wrong. From the early beginnings, to her peak BAT imperial era, ROL, to even now. To simply focus on her making it would be rather tedious and like most films without showing the hard work and constant changes to her look, sound and endurance to remain on top for decades. It is also integral to show how Madonna evolved from spunky newcomer, pop icon, mother, spiritual goddess, disco queen to now.

It's also so surreal seeing her read through the SEX book.

Guest Nobody Knows Me

I think stopping at 1996 is ideal since covering her entire career will start to look tacky and her career from early ‘80s up to the birth of her daughter highlights the major obstacles she’s had to face apart from ageism.

This is just my view, I'm sensing that a lot of younger M fans don't realise how ground breaking and culturally changing  M's era from Like a Prayer to SEX was.

Also Ray of Light was the last time it can be argued she really broke new ground.

I would be way more interested if it were a book. I find cover songs of Madonna and people playing Madonna quite unbearable to take it.

I would too as a big fan. But a lot of people aren’t going to be bothered to read a book especially if it’s long. A movie is going to reach way more people, plus a movie allows her music to be incorporated and exposed to a new audience.

What I really see is a coffee table book of her life with original and old photography. As for the movie, I wish it would be something that is more of an art house/cryptic type of movie where there’s so much emphasis on cinematography and visuals everything is pictured in metaphors rather than a direct biopic. Something like an art film or visual album.

I don’t think any actress can do Madonna just really tbh and I don’t want this to be a flop after Bohemian Rhapsody did an incredible job.

Bohemian Rhapsody won the Oscar, but it got kind of mixed reviews. Some people said it didn’t deserve to win, A lot of Queen fans found fault with it and there were complaints it glossed over his homosexuality and HIV. When you are making a movie about an icon, you are never going to make a movie that will please everyone especially hard core fans who want 100% accuracy when films often take poetic license to appeal to a more general audience.

I think it should start with her backstage at the Billboard women in music awards. She could be remembering her past before she accepts her award. I also  think the Super Bowl should  be a major event towards the end. other live events to recreate, American Bandstand, VMA Virgin performance, Vogue VMAS, Dress You Up Virgin Tour, Who's that girl tour open your heart, express yourself BA, Oscars sooner or later and YMLM, Grammys NRM, VMAS Hollywood, Grammys Hung Up, Sticky and Sweet, Candyshop and Live Aid.

I would think they would have to include behind the scenes and personal moments not just performances everyone can see on YouTube. What’s the point of re creating those. Most people would prefer to see the real Madonna performing

I AGRREE WITH YOU. I want a full on drama. I was just thinking of the BWIM awards as framing the movie. Like Live Aid did for Bohemian Rhapsody.

*Oooops I meant to put this in the other thread, if you see it twice, that's why*

I didn't see anyone comment about the other Anne Sexton book on the coffee table. "Transformations" I would say out of everything on the table those two books probably say more about the feel of the movie than all of the detailed post-it notes with dates on them.

Live or Die-  The poems, written between 1962 and 1966, are arranged in the book in chronological order. Their subjects are Sexton's troubled relationships with her mother and her daughters, and her treatment for mental illness.

Transofrmations-  These poem-stories are a strange retelling of seventeen Grimms fairy tales, including "Snow White," "Rumpelstiltskin," "Rapunzel," "The Twelve Dancing Princesses," "The Frog Prince," and "Red Riding Hood." Astonishingly, they are as wholly personal as Anne Sexton's most intimate poems. "Her metaphoric strength has never been greater -- really funny, among other things, a dark, dark laughter"

I feel like a dark, twisted reimagining of her life story would be 100Xs more amazing than just a retelling of her life story fact by fact. Remember, our girl isn't the type to just put out a greatest hits collection every 5 years because the record company wants to. So I would say, she may not follow the same formula that these other biopics did.

I mean it was one of the most profitable movies of the year and won an Oscar. That’s a hell of a lot better than W.E or Swept Away or The Next Best Thing ever did in box office. If her biopic can get that big, that’s the best thing that could happen to her career in recent memory.

That's what I thought too, but now that I've seen Julia Garner that they supposedly cast l'm superexcited for it. I think she is the perfect pick and will do an awesome job!
