steady75 9,566
Yeah I think its a miracle we're getting them made public to be honest and I'm thrilled they're not just sat in old queens dusty cupboards til the end of time. A few irks here and there is tolerable.

I can see singles like 'Keep It Together' and 'Deeper & Deeper' getting bonus mixes, just a shame they didn't do that with the releases of 'Erotica' and 'Secret' as there's still a few mixes of those songs missing. Agree but being a fan of Madonna in the 80's was so much about the beautiful artwork that the 12" and 7" inches came from. I think any new fans brought about by the biog deserve to scroll back through her spotify catalogue and see the outstanding visual element she bought to all her singles. They really were the only part of Madonna you could physically hold in your hand as a young fan / baby cig. It really highlights her outstanding reinvention through the eras more than many of her album covers which ...if you scroll through spotify only picture her as Dark Haired once...in black and white on the American Life album. I think her sprawling singles catalogue deserves it's place online. New_Boy, rlittler81, MaDöner Kebab and 3 others

The 12" version of Dress You Up has now been replaced with the proper version so we finally have the 4 beat intro back on streaming rather than that weird cut off celebration mix.... but sadly the 12" is no longer available. I've checked the Borderline and Papa Don't Preach mixes on the debut and TB and they're still the same extended versions. Interesting huh? The Virgin Tour kicked off on April 10th 1985. Just saying...... Well spotted! A relief that they're finally getting their shit together and cleaning things up bit by bit. Do we have too much OCD to care about these things when the majority won't? I think it's reasonable checking if this is perhaps a new master or just a collection of files someone downloaded from this very forum. It's a mixed bag overall, but I couldn't be happier that this happened. I think this is clearly one of her most important songs, and it should be celebrated in any way possible. I can also delete that promo vinyl rip now that we have an official release with all of the tracks. luckystar908

Have to see if the other extended versions are eventually replaced with the original album versions. MaDöner Kebab and steady75

Prayer 14,272
It feels surreal to have all these remixes officially released on digital. It almost feels illegal listening to them on Spotify after all these years Only complain is they seem to be taken from different sources, yeah, the volume in the first two is quite low and then on "Churchapella" goes up suddenly. But hey let's take it as it is, I prefer that than all of them "remastered". Stay and Pretender also sound better, I’m so happy about it! so now what needs to be corrected: On the Madonna album (reissue and original): correct Holiday version. On the Madonna album (only the reissue): correct Borderline version, Physical Attraction in HQ. Burning Up 12" Version can also sound better. On the True Blue album: correct Papa Don’t Preach version and White Heat in HQ. On the Immaculate Collection: correct Lucky Star and Borderline versions. i think that’s it? On the Immaculate Collection: correct Lucky Star and Borderline versions. i think that’s it? The reissues audio sources are all over the place, I think. "Madonna" (Reissue): Different audios: "Lucky Star" seems to be an original album file, "Borderline" is the Extended Remix, "Burning Up" is super loud (2001 remaster?), "I Know It" and "Think Of Me" are the 2001 remasters, "Holiday" a short edit, "Physical Attraction" a lower audio original file (not the 2001 remaster), "Everybody" 2001 remaster and the two bonus tracks I think "Burning Up" remix is an original file but "Lucky Star" US Remix from the 2001 remaster. The listening experience is a mess with so many volume changes. "Like A Virgin" (Reissue): I don't know if the regular album is the 2001 remaster? It sounds quite low. It's not the perfect listening experience and actually it makes the album sounds more dated and flat than it really is. This album's production on vinyl or the Japanese CD Single Collection just SHINES. Very good work by Nile Rodgers. The two bonus track remixes seem to be sourced from original 80s files, not the 2001 remaster (low audio but good). "True Blue" (Reissue): All the regular album is the 2001 remaster... too bright. And same as "Like A Virgin", it makes it sound more dated than it really is. The two bonus tracks remixes are from different sources, I think the "True Blue" remix is lower than "La Isla" (or the other way around). I don't know, those three albums are iconic in her career, but their digital versions are not good at the moment. realityisalways
steady75 9,566
Yeah the whole Like A Virgin and Like A Prayer album sound dreadfully thin, whereas the Debut and True Blue always sound so full. I don’t know if it’s anything to do with LAV & LAP being digital recordings. They sound so cold. Twinned with the dark pictures the Like A Virgin album conjures images of a derelict warehouse. It’s a very depressing shoot for a mostly upbeat album. I always felt the album artwork represented the dreary maudlin songs on the record (shoo be don’t! / Pretender / Stay / LDLHA rather than the rest of the upbeat songs (Dress You Up / Angel / Over / LAV / Material Girl. A Record day re release with the original beautiful blue silky artwork and Into The Groove / Gambler / Crazy For You is an absolute must in years to come. I actually really dislike the sepia. Always have. It just doesn’t represent the album properly.
