The Director’s Cut is the super explicit video with the grenade ending and her covering her ears.

The Bush ending was the one sent to media and premiered in some European countries for 24 hours and then pulled. But that wasn’t considered the Director’s Cut, just the official video before being deleted.

One thing is for sure: there’ll be complaints from some fans in any case haha.

The Director’s Cut is the original. It was never released but leaked some years later.

The one with the Bush ending is a re-edit to try and soften the message in the video by cutting some parts and adding that ending. This was aired only once in a few countries outside of the U.S.

Basically as @Blue Jeanexplained, the super explicit later leaked Director's Cut was the original version but MTV demanded changes, cause it was too much. Then they started playing with different endings and less violence. In the end, the Bush version was the final one before being pulled. And then the flags version became the official one.

Almost? I’d say it’s more relevant now than it was in 2003 considering we are on the precipice of an inevitable global war. True art is timeless. Well for as long as a civilization prevails, that is! I think the Billboard and Rolling Stone articles were a dead giveaway that the video would be uploaded. Glad to see it can finally be seen for its universal message. I think most people are anti-war at present, but as Americans we seem to always think it won’t happen on our soil. That narrative needs to be explored in the culture once again.
