But several mixes were “fanmade” by people other than the remixers, so I wasn’t thrilled with it and the awful cover art, but as a collector, I had to have them!

Forgot the silver! Absurd amount of variants, but I guess that’s standard now?

I thought it was relatively common for remixers to have programmers or assistants create edits of the full length mix?  At least in the past not sure if that would still be the case now.

Actually “She who shall not be named” did even more than that:

She released all songs from the album as “instrumental singles” as well as several other physical items such as 12 versions of her album that together make a clock. That resulted in every song from the album charting consequently on the BB Hot 100 from #1 down to 12 or something. 😵💫😵💫

Then, when it was time to block (mostly black artists) from #1 she amped up her desperate tricks and released even more exclusive items and bundles, as well as discounts. I think, in the end there were about 30 different versions of her album alone.

That woman is a whole nother level of insane.

There were four colour variants that made the clock, not 12.

Yea, I’m saying that these edits weren’t created by the people who made the mixes 20 years ago.

Tom, Dick or Harry at Warner did them.

To me, I don’t consider them official mixes even though they were released now officially.

The point is that even the original edits from 20 years ago weren’t made by the original mixers but from other people. For example, according to the promo cd Keith Blake did all the edits of the ROL remixes. The edits weren’t made by Orbit, Sasha and Calderone.
So it’s the same thing.

Working from the original stems/multitracks is different than just ripping from a CD and making an edit yourself.

It’s not the same thing at all.

Those edits were done when the remixes were done, not 20 years later and the remixers had programmers.

These edits were not done by the programmers who edited the mixes 20 years ago.

Im not sure why I’m getting pushback on facts. I already bought my two copies 😂

What are we still missing for single release EPs?

Hollywood, DAD, Nothing Fails?, Love Profusion

Don’t Tell Me

Drowned World, TPOG

Cherish, Oh Father, Dear Jessie

there’s plenty more to look forward to, such as:

Angel, Dress You Up

Who’s That Girl, Causing A Commotion

Keep It Together

This Used To Be My Playground, I’ll Remember, You’ll See

Don’t Cry For Me Argentina

Then there’s stuff like Secret where they released the remixes EP on digital, so could release another digital single with the Secret instrumental and Let Down Your Guard (rough mix edit)

These ones have great mixes of other tracks :)

Drowned World with Sky Fits Heaven mixes

Nothing Fails with Nobody Knows Me mixer

No wonder why the Sasha Ultra Violet edit of ROL was sloppy as hell. Eugh...

Is there any chance that American Life - Mixshow might come out as a digital EP in the future?

Now that we’ve got unmixed You Can Dance, is there a chance for other rarities on streaming alongside the EPs?

Even where the tracks are all already available to stream, having them in these track listings with the original art would still be nice things to have :)

e.g.

DJ Promo only 12”s to promote Immaculate Collection: Like A Prayer, Express Yourself, Vogue, Justify My Love

DJ Promo 12”s with promo only remixes like "Nothing Fails" (Peter Rauhofer's Lost In Space Mix) – 8:36

Broken 12” maxi single

The Holiday Collection

Confessions Remixed

True Blue (Super Club Mix)

She’s Breathless

This is… nothin’ but Madonna

GHV2 Remixed

What It Feels Like For A Girl (That Kid Chris Caligula 2001 Mix) 9:51

Don't Tell Me (Timo Maas Mix) 6:55

Drowned World / Substitute For Love (BT & Sasha Bucklodge Ashram Mix) 9:27

Human Nature (Bottom Heavy Dub) 7:56

Frozen (Extended Club Mix) 11:17

Erotica (Masters At Work Dub) 4:50

Deeper And Deeper (David's Klub Mix) 7:39

Ray Of Light (Calderone Club Mix) 9:30

Beautiful Stranger (Calderone Club Mix) 10:12

Bedtime Story (Luscious Dub Mix) 7:40

Secret (Junior's Sound Factory Dub) 7:58

Music (HQ2 Club Mix) 8:50

It’s That Girl

Holiday (Edit) 4:02

Lucky Star (Edit) 3:48

Like A Virgin 3:35

Material Girl 3:57

Into The Groove 4:38

Angel (Remix Edit) 4:51

Dress You Up 3:58

Borderline (Remix Edit) 3:59

Live To Tell (Edit) 4:32

Papa Don't Preach 4:22

True Blue (Remix) 4:23

Open Your Heart (Remix) 3:57

La Isla Bonita (Remix) 3:58

Who’s That Girl 3:54

There’s just so much potential to keep the re-promotion of the back catalogue going through extra singles/EPs/compilations on the streaming apps

Yea, they were awful.

Notice most of the ROL remix edits are just under 5. Warner does that.

Remix edits done by the mixers/programmers would be closer to 4:00 and under.

It’s a Warner thing. They did it to many artists through the mid-00’s.

I am truly a flop we don't demand for the singles on Twitter tagging rhino

They should release them on date not on the time Emily gets married or sm

Homever i don't think she will release Broken on streaming or digital shops

She may reissue it for a RSD release later

But i doubt she would put a "exclusive vinyl property" on streaming

I never understood why this was never made?? It has to exist somewhere right?

Of all the missed opportunities and fuck ups of the AL era, not releasing the full vocal edit of Hollywood by Stuart Price as an alternative single version is probably at the top of the list. Same goes for his mix of Nobody Knows Me, it should have been available as a b-side or on Remixed and Revisited because with just a few tweaks he transformed a very lethargic track that goes nowhere into an energetic bop, and again, it's not even a total remix but a mix.

(AL was her first album since LAV to be solely (co)produced by one producer, Stuart should have been invited to, at least, do what Jellybean did for the first album meaning tweaking a few tracks a bit)

(On another note i still don't understand how she did not get sued for not crediting Iggy Pop on I'm So Stupid, you can clearly hear the I Wanna Be Your Dog guitar line down in the mix throughout the song AND when she was promoting Confessions someone asked her about that Stooges track being sampled in I Love New York, which she denied, even though it is, and added that it was indeed ripped on I'm So Stupid on the previous record. And in rehearsals for the tour she made it even more obvious, even singing like Iggy Pop. The Dakar and Ginser electroclash cover was even played before every ReInvention tour shows and Pop was her special guest at Skibo Castle)

Just 4, actually. And the different physical releases had nothing to do with all the songs occupying the whole top 10 of BB's Hot 100, that's digital alone, 1 version per track. The instrumentals came way after.
