It's also the 30th anniversary of that damn NME article mentioning a ballad called "Show and Tell" as the journalist was recalling listening to a tape of the album in Madonna's bedroom. My guess is that it's "Bad Girl" but damn, 30 years of wondering just because the journalist could not get it right hahahaha. And since that article was released before the album we were all expecting that track to be on it....just like "No Entry" a total fabrication from the press.

OR maybe not ^^

I remember that article!  And how they made all those supposed tracks sound like it was gonna be a porn soundtrack, lol.  I remember "Throb", "Deeper, Deeper", "No Entry", "Show & Tell".  The only one that didn't sound like a porn title was "By Alien Means".

Madonna (and really Warner Records) wants us on the streaming trip to get her numbersvup before she goes any further. Her numbers are great at the moment. ONLY artist from the 80's to reach 5 BILLION streams. Digital releases like she has been doing is the way to go. We will get physical releases. And we will get BIG amazing box sets for certain release. This is a multi year deal and Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones is far from tired.

Finally Enough Love was a great project to start with Warner Records. Still stream the hell out of it. :D

i would love to get some inside info on what M is doing with these re-issues. it just seems that since FEL dropped she has shown zero interest in this campaign now. she seems more bothered alienating people even more so on instagram with her weird pictures ...

I agree. I’ll be honest, when I initially read the press release that she had signed the contract with Warners to curate these deluxe editions I thought to myself “yeah that will never happen”. Sadly it seems to be coming true. She has never been one to look back and celebrate her legacy and I wouldn't be surprised if she is being a pain in the ass behind the scenes regarding what’s included etc. I know we have had FEL and the little trinkets, but the main piece in the press release was regarding deluxe editions of her albums. It’s been fifteen months since the announcement and we still have nothing in terms of anything rare and unreleased (in terms of albums).

It makes me wonder if everything is still going to plan. If M is really curating these items, we have had no insight to this. At least when FEL was in production she posted videos of her in the studio working on it - all we have had recently is random videos of her. And before anyone jumps on my post telling me to be patient and it’s a multi year deal, you don’t need to tell me that. I’m fully aware, but I think it’s ridiculous that this deal was announced so long ago and nothing of real importance has materialised. Erotica 30 would have been the perfect opportunity for the first release. Something tells me there has been a change behind the scenes.

I don't wanna scare anyone, but according to crazydaysandnights, there are whispering in the corridors of a record company that the label might drop "the permanent A-lister one named singer"

Let's hope it's not Madonna. Let's hope she'll deliver the goods soon.

Don't really care about the Celebration album, but at least we got two new songs because of it... love both Celebration and Revolver... great songs.

Revolver is one of her most underrated songs. Imagine if that had been the lead single and they made a real video for it.

It took 4-5 years and Prince's death for us to get the deluxe edition of Purple Rain after it was announced. So yeah...

But then who knows what gems from that era are hidden in the vaults.

I would love some unreleased remixes from that era

True, but are they gems in Madonna's opinion? That's what matters. If she doesn't like them for whatever reason, they're not getting out.

Don’t think that’s totally true: if she didn’t like “You thrill me” she would have never sang it live during confession. And if she didn’t feel “Let down your guard” was ok it would have never been a b-side (although it wasn’t a masterpiece). To me what is cool about a demo is the creation process. And in the case of the first album it would be great to hear something coming from that era coz it’s where she surfaced from the anonymity of the clubs. So as having a “Warning signs” or “Desperately seeking Susan” track would reveal how the metamorphosis from unknown artist to megastar did take place. But still that’s just my point of view and what really drives my interest in her discography ( sad to say more than I am today with Tokisha and Sickick and those unrequested “remixes”)

I think the only reason "You Thrill Me" saw the light of day if because Stuart Price spruced it up so well.

Warner wants Madonna’s numbers on streaming and digital up. So they’re gonna put as much out as possible in those cheap  to deliver platforms to push people who play Madonna regular to those platforms. They want collectors and fans to feel that they’re missing out so need to get on board. When they have your streaming coin and her numbers and revenue are up they will release the physical and then you’ll go and buy that too.

You know you will. They know you will. So if you were in charge of the marketing and business plan at Warners you’d be doing exactly what is been done.
the digital singles campaign is essentially pure free marketing which actually generates revenue it’s a no brainier. It’s pushing a button to upload. The physical products are a much bigger issue. I would take solace in the fact that most of the material we have received on digital is already available material.
After what I’ve seen in the last few weeks with the Erotica campaign my position has shifted. I think this bodes really well for the special editions in terms of demos and unreleased stuff.

You have to start thinking like a marketing manager and business strategist and not a fan / collector.

I think your all gonna be really happy.

I feel it. It’s coming.

I'm convinced that FEL was completely unplanned and solely her idea, which she took forever to prepare for  which in turn delayed the album reissues. I'm socked they didn't have Erotica ready to go but maybe they feared October was too soon after FEL was released?

Either way, there's too many hints at a 40th anniversary celebration for her first album. I'm confident that will be released first and probably in Q1 next year.

No way "FEL" was just her idea and not Warner's. A greatest hits type of release to launch the reissues campaign screams classic record company strategy.

And yes, we all wanted "Erotica 30th" in October but it was very close to "FEL" in August, it wasn't realistic. They need to milk the releases (and the fans) one by one. "FEL" is still charting in some countries (the UK for instance), plus the stand-alone releases like the "Erotica" vinyl single picture disc, "Everybody" RSD vinyl, etc. And all the digital singles.

Let's see what the future brings and if "Erotica 30th" is indeed happening soon...

Could the plan all along been to start with the debut album?  If that is so, I don't see any delay.  I think it's logical to think that Erotica could have been the first re-issue being the 30th Anniversary, but maybe the strategy all along was to start with the Debut.  After all, Everybody is getting re-issued on RSD.  Possibly, there will be something thrown out to us for the 40th Anniversary of Burning Up and Holiday, leading into the debut album re-issue.

FEL was something Madonna help curate based on the Warner deal.  The Frozen mixes seem to be what was unplanned.  It made sense to hop on that trend to help get her streaming numbers up.  It has worked as it seems.

I do think the physical album re-issues were always planned to start in 2023 with her debut album.  If she's planning a tour around her 40th Anniversary, this makes even more sense.

If they always intenteded to start the reissues with the first album in 2023, I don't think they would have announced that deal so early. Even if you count FEL as the part of the this campaign, we still had to wait full year after the announcement to get that. Either their plans changed at some point or they didn't have a plan at all and now they're going with the flow.

I still want to believe that after Bye Bye Baby ep we will get Erotica as the conclusion. I wouldn't be mad if they followed this pattern of releasing singles first followed by the album.

Not sure about that.  Something would have had to been said since a month and a half later, the Madame X Tour digital live album was released through Warner.  So technically, that kicked it all off.  Remember, the deal goes beyond than just re-issuing the albums.  It also includes single re-issues and other special releases which I definitely would think FEL would fall under.  It would make sense to announce the partnership right then.  Also, I do wonder if Warner approached her in doing another Greatest Hits, but she wasn't interested and opted to do FEL to celebrate her 40 dance hits instead.  That would satisfy Warner and Madonna would been happy she didn't released another typical Greatest Hits.  I would count the re-issue of Who's That Girl/Causing A Commotion, Erotica picture disc and Everybody all part of this as well.  Those all had to be planned being they are all physical Vinyl releases.  IMO, the Frozen viral mix was the only thing that wasn't planned.

IMO the reissues campaign was always supposed to start with the first album on its 40th anniversary and FEL was just an apetizer to introduce her to a new generation just like the Frozen & Hung Up & Material Girl remixes.

Exactly.  The first album was released in July 1983.  I can see the first reissue being released around that time.  In the meantime, there could be some more things released.  There's another RSD in April (?) and who knows what else?  Maybe it will come sooner, that would be amazing, but the actual 40th anniversary is next year.  If they're doing every album and making a fuss about her 40 years in music, it just seems to make sense to go in chronological order.
