No, the Hi-Res Qobuz albums ("Madonna", "Like A Virgin", "True Blue" and "Who's That Girl") are from 2012. They were released on all HD digital stores back then.

The crystal clear vinyl pressings used previous masters if I'm not mistaken (same masters as the 2012 re-presses).

Hmmm, maybe I'm mistaken but I'm pretty sure that those Hi-Res HD Tracks ones were Vinyl rips at 192. But I came across this MQA article that they explain the mastering process of "Like a Virgin" and seems like all their blog posts are from 2017-2018. Perhaps they just posted it on that date, but I definitely hear an improvement on the clear vinyl in comparison with the old pressings...

Haha that’s because all our upscales are technically bad since we don’t have the high bit original transfers. So instead of focusing on improving detail we have to remove compression artifacts.

Also, as @InterlacedGeek pointed out, a proper upscale needs to edited from several different upscales. And that takes hours of work. Which is not worth doing with a compromised source

But, inevitably, you remove more than compression artifacts. For this weird plastic sharpened look. I just see no benefit in having a dumb machine add fake detail. Well encoded SD isn't that bad. The extents to which some people will go to avoid it are strange.

Anyway, I think the chances of ANY of the concerts being redone are slim anyway, mostly because they weren't released in cinemas. They would prefer to do the music videos, which are more known.

Can people please stop saying they want stuff to be released on DVD.

NO

We don't want bloody DVD, what decade do you live in.

Because Rebel Heart Tour was released in DVD, so there's a little tiny bit of possibility ?. But if they're gonna release those Blond Ambition or The Virgin Tour on Blu-Ray, I wish everything's uncompressed and in a full no-cut setlist even just an SD quality.

Can people get it through their thick skulls that when people say DVD they just mean they want the damn video released in some physical format.

I think you’re dismissing the benefits of AI upscaling based on the terrible outcomes we’ve had so far.

First of all the technology improves a lot at a very fast pace. Things that you can do now were unavailable just 6 months ago.

And the same settings are not appropriate for all the different shots that are in any given video. Each camera or setup needs its own separate upscale settings and they all need to edited together. If you go through that laborious process and have an uncompressed source you can dramatically improve an SD source without sacrificing anything.

unfortunately the technology is still very new and there’s no proper specialists.

the best example is video retouching. When it was first introduced it looked horrible. These days, if done properly by an experienced video retoucher, it’s completely seamless

It is, but some people just like to stress over a turn of phrase that's widely used.

It’s incorrect to say DVD as that’s the name of a specific format. Its like calling a VHS tape a Beta or calling a Laserdisc a VCD.  If people are going to talk about releases and formats they should use the proper terms. That’s all I’m saying.

There's one thing you can say about DVD. It had a much catchier name than Blu-ray Disc and (lol) 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. So I can't even blame the people for naming the later formats incorrectly, I blame the Blu-ray Association for not coming up with a better name.

It's easier to say BLU-RAY (two syllables) than to say DVD (3 syllables).

I don't blame people for using the wrong term, I blame their lack of education on the importance of using the correct words to communicate their thoughts.

I encourage everyone to refer to WAV and FLAC files as MP3 going forward as it has a nice ring to it. Let's all just become stupid and use wrong terms going forward.

I'm afraid you might be right. But I still hold out hope - I was stunned to see the remix/edit of "Express Yourself" released this year. So maybe miracles can happen.

But that’s because it was already out on the promo CD and it’s a proper remix.

For everyone but a few fans the OYH remix edit sounds identical to the album version. And it’s pretty obscure.

i always said DVD to refer all physical formats of a live release until Kylie released her 2018/19 tour on DVD only after us fans said "release Golden Tour DVD" non stop and she ended releasing just DVD (of course the lack of blu ray wasn't that but it felt cursed)

Lol that was upsetting. I kept waiting for a blu ray announcement. Luckily we have An HD file of that show..
