Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones

Recommended Posts

It's a cool release.... I do think the first part should be like this:

Holiday (Edit)
Lucky Star (Edit)
Like a Virgin
Material Girl
Angel (Dance mix edit)
Into the Groove (YCD Remix)
Causing a Commotion (Silver screen edit)

But ANYWAY, its never perfect with these things. It will be nice to have a vinyl with all these remixes to play through. And this will be a great gym album!

Agreed - that would make it perfect!

OR...

Holiday

Like A Virgin

Material Girl

Into The Groove

Open Your Heart

Causing A Commotion

Spotlight - Edit (to represent YCD)

This anthology is marking her 40 years landmark so Everybody must be there to represent 1982. Wether we like it or not.
But Physical Attraction shouldn’t have replaced other number ones like Commotion. And surely they could have found room to include Lucky Star.
As for Angel I guess it kind of doubles with into the groove so I don’t think it’s a terrible omission.

Love this project! So many amazing collectible items.

The tracklist is great, I understand why she had to make some compromises, going for 50 has quite an impact! :fire:

It's nice for a release between big eras. Nothing to hate.

Exactly. It's a collector box set for the fans. I think its great. And I'm excited to have a vinyl with all these remixes as well as them in a digital release. Nothing to complain about.

I suspect its the album edit. But it could be the radio edit that was on the cassette and vinyl.

But this is not the original radio edit, has a different ending. I live with the fear that they include this version because they surfing the web and find things, like covers... fingers crossed

I love the art. The inclusion of the YCD edits is exciting. Into The Groove sounds incredible,  i bought it on iTunes and almost fell outta my chair when i listened to it. Hopefully we still get a proper remaster of the whole album sometime down the Rd.

It's the fact that Angel and Causing a Commotion aren't included that i'm really having a hard time with. I get that Causing a Commotion was released for RSD, but i'm not bringing my record player in the truck to listen to it. Should be released digitally as well. I feel like Like A Virgin and Material Girl could have been dropped for this, since the 7" versions aren't far off from the album versions. No Lucky Star? And since we're paying homeage to YCD why not include the YCD version of Holiday instead of the 7"? However i'm excited to soon own that 7" version.

It's amazing to see Keep it Together and Impressive Instant included. And i'm actually blown away by the choices of remixes. Most are my fave mixes of those tracks. However, Frozen most def should have been the Stereo MC's mix, and Hollywood the Thin White Duke mix.

Ultimately, i think a lot of time and thought was put into this. I'm more amazed/excited than disappointed.

Loving the format it comes in, I was dreading a megamix but this looks like a fun release. That standard artwork though is probably her worst cover ever, and I'm including LFL and Ghosttown lol. Something my 12 YO self would have spotted as unofficial from a mile away back in 1990. It's just wrong on every level lol. But the B7W is beautiful (I think the colored ones by the same artist were superb btw) We can talk forever about the coice in remixes, I for one would have wanted to include as much remixers as possible and not have too many mixes by the same DJ (stereo MC's Orbital Kruder Dorfmeister where are you) But the only real complaint I have, like most of you, is the omission of CAC, there is really no excuse for omitting it in favor of PA, which I love but technically doesn't belong on this list. Everybody as representation of YCD seems fair although I have a soft spot for spotlight. But exited to buy the 1 CD and DL the rest and replace it's cover ;-)

That being said i just listened to it on headphones and it totally clips @ 3:14! What a shame!

You're right, it does, but the original too...

(Turn up the volume!)

With the remastering is just clearer.

Personally I don't mind when the clip/glitch whatever is already on the original, I just take it as the way the song is. Another examples:

"Vogue" 7:33/7:34:

"Drowned World/Substitute For Love" 2:27 (the word "Lovers"):

I discovered the last one recently and I was checking every edition and yeah, it's everywhere, so it's part of the song.

Anyway, back to the "new" "Into The Groove" remix: sounds promising. It's not perfect, cause it's loud as f**k, but I was comparing it yesterday with the "Celebration" remasters and even "True Blue 35th" and it's, ahem, miles away. Can't wait to have another pre-order track released to compare it too.

I do respect people that are happy with it but i also have the right to say that i expected something else. To me she did nothing more than give a list to Mike Dean and tell him "Remaster them and make them no longer than 4 minutes" and that's it, so yes i call it lazy. What i was expecting was that she would give a brand new and fresh twist to some of her classics, maybe not on the 50 but some of them at least. Look at these last couple of years, some major singers's classic have been on heavy rotation by giving them new mixes ; Whitney remixed by Kygo "Higher love", also Kygo remixed Donna Summer "Hot stuff", Elton and Dua track remixed, The Black eyed peas and their track sampling " La isla bonita"... She could have easily do a few remixes with all those remixers she goes clubbing with all the time like Honey Dijon, she's also been in studio with the Weeknd... Can you imagine she had just made 3 new mixes, nothing more : "Vogue - Honey Dijon mix" (a hit in the clubs), "Holiday featuring the black eyed peas" (a hit this summer) and another classic remixed by the Weeknd and its 80's electro style. Then do a new photoshoot for the releases, shot new videos (she's been able to shot two videos in a monhs for those Frozen remixes)... This is the kind of effort i was expecting, just 3 new mixes for the summer and the rest you can put the classic mixes. Of some people are not happy with my opinion that's ok, i have the right to express it without being agressive. This is a discussion board.
