My take is that the abridged version is for the general public and the deluxe is for the devotees (and both are for the hardcore obsessives).

Besides, do casual fans of any artist buy CDs or vinyl these days? I think not when streaming is so popular.

Finally, why release a standard greatest hits when streaming playlists take care of that these days?

Fifty dance number ones is a milestone worth capitalizing on (even if the chart was lame, easy to dominate, and probably corrupt like the rest of Billboard), especially for Madonna who has given a lot to the genre.

This remix compilation is the perfect way to finally give her remix catalogue some recognition. It was abandoned since forever and she has a huuuge one, thankfully they started the single reissue campaign and now this. It's great and I am happy for this release.

It was driving me crazy that her remixes and ever growing collection of dance hits were being ignored by her own management and label.  Celebration was a sacrilege and was reason enough for Madonna to seek waters outside of Warner. The wonky tracklist on Celebration was a blatant attempt to conceal the glaring omisions in her catalog on that product.  I am beyond thrilled that this collection is happening.  Ignoring Madonna's legacy is no longer an option.  Something to Remember was a wake up call to M's fanbase and the general public and I feel that this new collection will be as well.   I really am happy to have a collection coming that does not exclude entire eras and celebrates the full genius and magic that is Madonna.  I love all fifteen (inc Breathless) studio albums and it is ridiculous to focus so heavily on the Immaculate Collection material only.  Madonna has made music for forty years and so much of it, from Madonna to Madame X, remains fresh and brilliant.  This collection reminds me  how important she has been to the industry for four solid decades.  Hopefully the world will now recognize M's contributions as well.  FINALLY ENOUGH LOVE!  ❤️ 💙 💜 💖 💗

Another greatest hits? We’ve not had a greatest hits since 2009 it’s way overdue. People are not interested in new music it’s her back catalogue that needs the treatment to reattract people. This compilation is the best thing that could happen for her.

Just ordered the Walmart Release.  It’ll be cool to have one album sealed.  Or make a great gift at some point down the road.  I think I’ll open the Amazon Silver version.  (My initial purchase.)  Still kicking myself for missing the six record set. I didn’t realize that that was going to be so dang limited.   Hopefully, there is another release or something.  Pretty bummed I already missed out.

PS — I think in general, this is a pretty amazing release. I was Mr Cd Maxi-Single for decades and am thus VERY familiar with some of these mixes.  Her choice of remixes often matches my own.  Many of the choices on here are ones I would have picked.  So Bravo — Madonna.  And the rarer tracks like SKIN are really pretty dang awesome.

My only quibble — I wish SPOTLIGHT had been on this record rather than PHYSICAL ATTRACTION.  It’s simply a MUCH better song and Oh-so-Madonna!

Another remix that is NOT here that is amazing  (sadly, it’s understandable that it was left off as it was NOT a #1) is William Orbit’s Guerrilla Beach Mix of I’LL REMEMBER that massively foreshadowed Ray of Light… many years and several albums earlier….
