The original I'll Remember mix was beautifully produced.

Different mixes serve different purposes/interpretations.

I swear some fans act contrary just for the sake of it.

Don't get me wrong I love the album version too, I guess the word "dated" isn't exactly right. It just elevated M to a new sound, there was such a giant leap in electronic music around that time

Haha, no, thankfully I don't.

That's why I said in the beginning that I wasn't sure that all these remixes were better. One thing I'm sure of, they enhance whatever songwriting or production aspect I like in the original, and the fondness I had for the first version.

As most official remixes were made for singles, which are supposedly already the best tracks from an album or whatever project, I don't really answer to your question in that sense.

Radio remix edits belong to the sound of the moment but they hardly stand the test of time as pieces of music on  their own. See how the house journey that the 12" represents is hardly a loop in the short version of D&D from FEL

On the other hand, with reinvention being a key concept throughout M's career, the fact that some remixes might stand among her top music statements sounds more than OK.

Why it's so hard to accept that many of us love Madonna thanks to her singles and remixes??? In the 80s and 90s you could practically play the full album only with her singles and B-Sides.

Yes: Which remix is better than the original?

And many remixes are better than the original for some fans. That doesn't imply that we dislike the album versions.
