Mmmhm. I always thought this was some kind of internal thing, maybe for the executives or something, her kind of humor. Plus it was clearly recorded in between takes of the "Vogue" video. That could have never been the proper commercial.

From Twitter:

Makes sense.

The "ask Pepsi" is EVERYTHING hahaha.

If she didn't want to do the commercial for Nike's shoes, why did she accept it in the first place?

We're going deeper and deeper into this.

She wanted to do it and she wanted the money but she didn't want to wear the proper shoes cause that's what any other celebrity would do and she wasn't like the others.

It was the same with Pepsi, she REFUSED to drink it on the commercial and she only holds the can but doesn't drink from it.

Madonna being Madonna - an we love her for that!

Oh wow. She really said: "my way or the highway."

CLASSIC Madonna moment.

I would imagine the Nike executives just pissed after watching the VHS tape from Madonna.

I would also imagine the gag when this was leaked. People thought that it was a never-before-seen commercial for Nike.

Though I do wonder what else she put on that VHS tape other than her message... the Vogue video?

They moved on but not without sending them first a little love letter in the form of a "fuck you" video. :Madonna009:

Any celebrity and star would die to endorse Nike but Madonna really said "lol no" to them then sent this after Nike pulled out the deal.

The thing is, the video is part of the B-roll that leaked except now, it has sound.

On the 25:09 mark.

So she wanted to do the endorsement if they paid her first, huh.

I mean, isn't that how it works? A company pays a celebrity to endorse their products after negotiations. The way I see it, it seems like Nike was still negotiating with Madonna but she said no to wearing the footwear so they pulled out so I believe Nike is in the right for this one unless I am missing out something or I am wrong.

Yep. It looks like they were still negotiating, she said she wouldn't wear shit, Nike cancelled the whole thing but she pushed to get the money anyway?

Remember she basically got 5 millions dollars from Pepsi months before with another cancelled campaign, maybe she thought she would be lucky again with Nike but there was no contract signed. She's a smart woman and knew with no contract she didn't have a chance, but maybe she wanted the publicity and the controversy.

No wonder why she was toxic back then for American brands, when was her next big brand campaign in the US? Max Factor in 1999 or there was any other before that?

I think Max Factor is the only thing we can remember because the rest were international deals.

I still think about this:

Classic! Yep, I think all her commercials after Pepsi up until 1999 were international deals.

My fave is this one:

Looks like a 90s late porn TV channel thingy and I LIVE for it.

She really said: Y'all got deals in there, Japan? Sign me up!

For real, she has tons and tons of cool commercials. This one is something I still think about:

She looks amazing in this commercial.

Family is everything. Family comes first.

*gets divorced the next year. :Madonna009:

Oh yeah, we could do a thread only for her Japanese commercials. Another classic from the 90s!

They're all quite creepy and cool.
