Nothing Really Matters - Kruder & Korfmeister Session

I probably overpaid for this, but I LOVE this remix & dub so much I just didn't care. And the sale ended up being quite the ordeal.

I purchased it from Japan, which due to COVID restrictions wasn't shipping items directly to Canada, so it had to be forwarded through a friend in the USA. After paying and having the item dispatched, the seller sent me their rip of the disc...... and the dub had some very obvious sound issues. The drive was clearly struggling to read the disc, there was loud stratching that got worse and worse nearer to the end. OH NO.
The guy forwarding the CD tried to run it with Exact Audio Copy on the most secure settings, but it would just error out immediately (if you're familiar with EAC, that's when the red boxes start to light up and the projected extraction time is several days per track).... not a good sign. Unsure what to do - I said to just send the CD here, hopefully one of my multiple drives or analog CD players will be able to play this clean enough.

So when it finally arrives in my hands... I pop the CD into my drive, fire up Exact Audio CD, and.... it just works. Perfectly. Zero errors on secure mode, CRC's matched using "Test & Copy"... so yes, this is a perfect glitch-free digital copy. One of the drum loops throughout the track does have a bit of a crackle to it, but that's just how it's supposed to sound.

The Original Mix is the same version as the CD maxi and singles (though that has the L/R channels reversed for some reason) and the dub is the amazing James-Bond vibe dub from the white label that K&D put out themselves, seemingly frustrated that Madonna herself didn't release that version. I was kind of shocked to see it on a Warner Bros item, actually.

I was never much into the Club 69 ones, they were too clubby for the wrong reasons. This one is  hypnotic , it really deserves the length of it. It drives you through.

Same here !

I'm definitely not a fan of Peter Rehaufer big club sound I was never attracted with ever. Well it's still better than the overestimated Tracy Young who never did a real good remix.

But fuck yeah... Kruder & Korfmeister albums are so good and the fact they once worked for Madonna remix was one of the best thing for me ! Just best electronica era ever ! 

BTW, all ROL remixes are best of Madonna for the post 1995 long era. It's not just for big clubbing that I have always hated. I love dance music but not this club sound that is always the same. Just repetitive and boring.

Kruder & Korfmeister is just an impressive journey.

I love this remix, to me it's one of the best in her entire discography!

It's weird Warner didn't release the dub in the maxi, considering the many tracks they put into that (and how similar to each other some of them feel)

One of her best remixes, give me K&D, Orbital, Stereo Mc's... over the dancefloor drivel she chose for FEL. IMO those ere Madonna's personal choices because she listened to albums and remixes by these bands (we know she as obsessed by Stereo Mc's remix of Tricky She Makes Me Wanna Die while recording Ray Of Light because she said so in an itw, these leftfield remixes were no coincidences)
