We lost. He's a god.

Yes but we need melody and hooks and he's not the go to for that. I'd probably argue we need a different space and flavour for a Celebratory era. I'd be here for his production on some songs that had been written by a better top liner. Pat & Max sound like a dream to me. I just want someone who can bring some edge and warmth production wise like James Ford. A dream.

It’s an album!

Why is everyone so pessimistic? Dream big

I want an album not two tracks for a compilation or an EP, nothing short of 15 tracks would suffice

Besides it’s time for new music it’s been years since MX

They're discussing I'm Breathless, not the new stuff...

It was a kind of joke cause there's a never ending conflict going on for decades in the Madonna fanbase as to consider "I'm breathless" weither a studio album or a soundtrack !

Personally I consider it a studio album, but I can understand why some say it's a soundtrack. To me, if it was an actual soundtrack, all songs should be in the movie - not just 3 or 4.

I remember when it was in stores new. It was often placed next to the actual Dick Tracy soundtrack AND the Dick Tracy score CD.

The majority of the songs are just inspired from the movie or era the movie was set in, and the singles released from this album weren't in the movie either.

It doesn't matter what we "personally" think. Madonna and her team say it's a soundtrack. The end.

James Ford is an excellent producer! Together with Stuart Price he has produced the new Jessie Ware album, which will be released on april 28th. Her last album, What's Your Pleasure, also produced by Ford, was fantastic. Allegedly Pet Shop Boys are working with James Ford on their new studio album. Madonna working with James Ford would be amazing.

saw them do a live set at the Apple Store here in NYC many moons ago with their gigantic synth it was captivating, people sitting in rows of chairs staring at these men twiddle knobs and create this beautiful dance music while they all just sat there. Me & this cute girl stood up went to the back and started dancing.

Shouldn't the fact that it was place with the literal soundtrack confirm it is an album tho.....

There is a Dick Tracy soundtrack album that was released at the same time, hence ‘Music From and Inspired by’.

It’s a concept album and definitely more a studio album than a soundtrack. It is in a grey area, though, I agree.

True.  It's considered as a nontraditional soundtrack, a companion to Dick Tracy.  I understand the debate, but at the end of the day, it's an album that is inspired from a film and even include songs from the film, even though some versions weren't included in the film.  I suspect this will be debated until no one cares, but there really isn't a wrong or right answer since the album by official sources relate it to the film, but as a "companion".
