I love Stuart, but I wish she'd collaborate with Justice, even if just for one track. They had my favorite album last year. And I agree, I wish she'd choose collaborations for how well they work with her sound, and not for how trendy the artist is, if she has to have features.

I would actually prefer M to do a series like this narrating her life using archive footage rather than an actress playing her in a biopic or series

But please no overly robotic vocals anymore. We want soulful, warm, natural, connected beautiful vocals from her again.

I never care about charts. Madonna has not the same appeal she had until the 2000s, the competition is very strong and young people just connects more with other types of singers. I've loved every era because Madonna is my favourite singer ever, but I realize when an album is weaker than another. I loved MDNA, but it's not comparable to COADF or other previous albums, so I hope that she just goes solo with this new work. Just her and Price, they can do magic together and I hope they will do it again.
Leave teenagers to Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande please.
Madame X was a step in the right direction imho, a cohesive album with similar sounds in almost every song. I just want her to go less political now and give us a fresh pop album.

I am so happy to hear that Madonna's new song is coming out soon!
And this instagram video of Madonna is absolutely looking beautiful naturally!
Most importantly that video is not a horribly photoshopped and ruined by that incompetent and useless Ricardo's crappy and poor Photoshop skills!
And the next good news will be that that incompetent and useless Photoshop bitch Ricardo finally got fired!

Madonna’s influence will outlive generations of critiques that ebb and flow with the passage of time and all the shifts and changing of the guards that we imagine are terribly important, but end up just being variations on the same themes over and over again. Some people do some things better than others. Madonna is one of those people. What she does and how she is received for her actions may be up for grabs at various junctures of her life, but what this writer conveys in a somewhat unnecessarily reticent manner is that Madonna transcends everything because she was so damn effortlessly cool for much of her reign. Hell, she still kind of is at times, and she’s in her late 60s.

Desperately Seeking Susan is an absolute masterpiece in that it captures an essence that everyone dreams of tasting, but never will. It’s the fantasy of what once was, but better. It might not be important as a result of masterful direction, but it transcends most other 1980s comedic films in that it stars two monuments of America at the time: NYC and Madonna. Anyone who doesn’t see the sheer magic on display in DSS is either seriously jaded or biased in some way or another. It’s a fucking piece of art history.

Unpopular opinion: I don't want a 'Confessions on a Dance Floor Part 2.' I want something modern to dance to with a fresh sound.

I always scoff at the whole "well, the film/character was just a reflection of her persona at the time"...like it's supposed to put her in her place, and ultimately put down any merit her acting work may have had. To me, if anything, it's just smart business, and a natural reflection of where an artist is at the time - that their movie projects would coincide/influence their other work (like music). "Real actors" do it all the time, but nobody knocks them for it...

Susan is typically the 80s movie but much more than that. Sure the plot is simplistic, but the movie captured several elements that make this movie legendary for me. New York punk of the 80s, Madonna before fame, music (Thomas Newman), 3 women in power...
The fact that Madonna is practically playing herself has blurred things beautifully. Like a kind of look at this particular period.
I'm probably not objective because I have a particular adoration for this movie. When I saw it for the first time as a shy child from the countryside, it was such a shock. It's like I was discovering the world in color. Can we really be like that? Dress as we want, walk with pride while totally disregarding the judgment of others? Kiss and love who we want? Eat doodles with gloves ?  Thank you Susan/Madonna for freeing me and showing that we must live life through our own eyes and not from the others... and walk as if we're fucking the whole world

It had Madonna in all her Maripol glory in real NYC clubs and the East Village when it was actually New York F*CKING City. Didn't hurt to have one of her all time greatest songs attached. Gorgeous, silly time capsule.

I don't know if I agree, DSS was no different to any film in the 80's - none really had a plot, all pretty much were cheesy - it was that era. Out of all the films Madonna has done, DSS (other than Evita where she pretty played herself) was the highlight.

    Well, no.

I get his sentiment, even though I think that people that think she's a cultural appropriator or whatever are never going to get it. It's worthless trying to make a point. Real life doesn't work this way.

Susan should be respected just for the fact that it's a film with two women starring and another directing. In 1985.
Come to think of it, Madonna having women like Susan Seidelman and Mary Lambert capture her image during that particular period made all the difference.

Toby Phillips who produced the concert sequences said otherwise.
He also did cinematography and stated that he needed to get special permission from Madonna to change the lighting with gels and bring the brightness down, hence why the Paris news footage is darker and with deeper colours. Madonna had concerns the paying audience wouldn't be able to see the show properly and he had to compromise to make sure it looked good on film and good for the audience.
It was a completely different crew that Toby was in charge of, just because Alek claims he only needed certain songs, doesn't mean he made the decision about which parts of the concert were filmed. I doubt he had any say, it was Madonna who decided that.
He said all three nights were shot in full. I doubt Madonna would be willing to compromise her show for three nights just for a handful of songs. Yes it was shot on 35mm film. They shot the B&W scenes on 16mm and shot 250hrs, you think that wasn't expensive?
