I hate musical theatre bellowing. Just horrid.

It's June. 

She is the WORST actress and singer. I don’t care what anyone tries to tell me…her voice sounds like my ears being rubbed hard on a cheese grater. When I saw her in the season 3 preview of And Just Like That, it turned me off the show completely. She was awful in American Horror Story. She is repellent. Everything she does turns to shit. And yes, her Evita is quite possibly the worst of all of them. Madonna’s will always outshine them all, Elaine Paige is less insufferable than Lupone, but let’s be honest….that bombastic music needs a more delicate touch, not Broadway “actresses” bellowing for their lives. 

Abigail Jay and Elena Rogers are my two favourites, but Patti and Elaine are just insufferable vocalists. Elaine's version of Take a Bow is horrific.

It’s May. 

Feels like ever since the Celebration tour kicked off, she has looked better and better everytime we see her. She's lost weight and ditched the overfilled look. Madonna has stunning facial structure and the reason she looked especially off from 2021 to 2023 was because her sharp features were being obscured by all that puffiness from too many fillers. It also helps that she's styling herself in ways that are far more flattering recently.

I really hope this is new direction and we get more like this. Stunning just as she is

Why am I not remembering the Oprah performance? 

It’s very disjointed, and it’s really hard to invest in any of the characters. The score is very old Hollywood and successfully elevates the scenes that need emotional underlining due to a poor script. It just lacks substance overall, largely due to Beatty’s vanity and delusions of grandeur, but it was an achievement in terms of visual effects, and it was an indispensable part of another peak Madonna era. I saw it five times at the cinema just to fixate on Madonna’s beauty, but Breathless Mahoney as a character was a dud. She lacked any flair, and always seemed like she was sedated. And, as was often the case with her filmic endeavors, Madonna delivered her lines throughout the film with a stunning lack of cohesiveness. The scene where she meets the little boy is comical in how totally inconsistent she is! I think Dick Tracy ended Warren Beatty’s career. Yes, he had a few more notable roles ahead, notably Bugsy starring future wife Annette Bening, but Dick Tracy made him seem stilted and out of touch with the modern world. He was a remnant of a different cinematic generation, and I remember thinking he seemed really old for 53, even back then!

I remember being 12 and reading all the Beatty's intellectual and metalinguistc arguments about the direction he chose for the whole project  I was so curious and interested in seeing how this would have looked on the screen and convinced a good number of unfortunate kids to come and see with me this prodigious operation in person (always been like that ) ... it didn't go well, I have to say. But you know, they were my early naive steps into the adult movie world. And I think that's why it doesn't completely work, it's kids characters, a kids world created more for an adult kind of nostalgia operation, transfering the cartoon basic colour palettte, the essential characters psycologies and the fragmentary storyline to the big screen, keeping the drama and the naivety of the whole thing alive.
That was exactly the opposite of what Burton tried to do with Batman, he went all for the imaginery and storyline becoming the more realistic possible. Batman, I admit it, still does it all for me  completely! I always die for the next movie, cause I love his humanity, the complexity and the dark palce where his motivations and sense of justice come from (revenge, rage, pain), the goth setting and the brutal energy we're living on our own skin right now, aren't we? Doesn't Trump presidency look like a mixture of Penguin and Two Faces/Harvey Dent? And isn't Musk a kind of a Joker as well?
Loved M in the movie though, again in her own storytelling a step furrther in affirming a more intricate role for a female stereotyped character. She's got the only interesting story twist imo and I'm Breathless still is a lovely album to get back to every now and then, she did an excellent job. And I LOVED Pacino's Big Boy, that's maybe the only real reason why I could be back to watch it. But I'm a huge fan of his kind of histrionic acting, it's a kind of acting that only geniuses can take the liberty to play effectively. 
 

The art direction is brilliant but the movie itself is very boring. I think Madonna did a great job though and I enjoy her scenes. From what I understand Warren Beauty was too precious and perfectionist as a director to the point where the overall movie suffered.

This seems targeted at an audience who claps when the plane lands.
