This is what he had to say about a Madonna biopic last year:
"We've variously talked about doing things, and she was actually creating it herself" he says, referring to the singer's plans to direct Julia Garner in a film about her life — a project that has since fallen by the wayside amid her ongoing world tour. "I'm just not going to be able to do a biopic next, and certainly not a musical one. I choose my own creative journey based on what's going to make me really engaged in my life. And right now, it would be too much of going back on the same road."
"Having said that, Madonna has been such an influence on us," Luhrmann adds. "When you start to dig into her body of work, you realize just how rad she was and how she stood up for gay rights and was a provocateur. She deserves a really good story. The thing about Elvis is that when someone passes and years go by, there comes a moment where you can use their life story as a canvas to explore larger ideas. But it's quite complicated if they're still around. Maybe then, they're the ones to do it."

Oh my gooood!!! Bedtime fucking stories hashtag??!!!
I can't trust my own eyes, maybe we almost made it!!!
And NO! It can't be just a nice hashtag to quote an old record cause it was a late night talk and she was in slip.
Maybe the two things can be combined. We know for sure something about BS was in the works as they shared it on her accounts, we had the rumour of the early session to be released for the RSD and we know that those songs were all updated in the ASCAP register right last autumn. Maybe the new album is R'nB related, including the old tracks reworked and some more It could also be pretty coherent after the success of Popular and I wouldn't be surprised if The Weekend wrote one or two new tracks for her. I hardly can see her releasing in the same year the old BS demos and also a new completely different album.

Was just revisiting this yesterday, its a beautiful song with those magic Madonna melodies and moments, not quite a live to tell but her communication skills and EQ shines through on track and this live version. Live she was so invested it being her latest work.

Beautiful song! Of course, it didn't strike the same chord Crazy For You and Live To Tell did, but I was just happy to hear another ballad from her at the time. I remember thinking in the 80's, when stanning for her, how very few ballads she had at the time. She definitely made up for that as time went on, especially in the 90's. There's just something about many of her ballads. She sounds so raw and beautiful. I do wish the song was released as 3rd single in the U.S. I'm sure it would have done quite well, but by then, she released YOU CAN DANCE and that was the focus. As for the live performance, again just beautiful. While her first couple of tours lacked the same sorta production her future tours had, she still captivated the stage with the song. The MIME moves were awesome on stage. It really added some drama too the performance. The international release single cover is awesome. One of my favorite shots done by the late Herb Ritts. He definitely was a great asset to her career!

It's so underrated!! Loved the song the moment I heard as a teen getting into Madonna and buying her CD/singles. This song stood out to me whereas everything else on the WTG soundtrack is upbeat. Seeing this on the DVD was gorgeous. Her deep register, the empty stage and just her natural charisma.
I told you in another thread of how this song was perfect for me driving at night just being in Austin, seeing the city lights and being perfect mood music.
I also love the single cover. Wish we had remixes of this song and it had been performed than just one tour. So good!

I love an honest one like this. Madonna would agree with default jokey cunt, that's a good name for a book chapter

I love reading these tidbits - interesting interview with a drag queen named Panti Bliss and her time with Madonna in a restaurant in Dublin:
https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2025/jan/19/panti-bliss-the-gays-will-never-forgive-me-for-that
What’s been your most cringeworthy run-in with a celebrity?
I’m not that fussed about celebrities, generally. The only celebrity who makes me lose my mind is Dolly Parton. She’s my everything. But I once ended up with Madonna in an empty restaurant for two hours. We’d been to a funeral in the Dublin mountains and the only people who skipped the cemetery part – after the church service – were me and my two friends and her and her two friends, so we all arrived at the restaurant in a very fancy hotel two hours before everybody else. She knows my brother, so she walked up to me and said, “Should I know you?” She was fun but her default setting is kind of “jokey cunt”.
The slightly cringy part is that my friend Sergio needed a lift back to Dublin, and I sort of turned into my mother, and I’m like: “Madonna, you could give Sergio a lift back into town, couldn’t you? Plenty of room in that car!” Madonna went, “Oh, well, we came from Dublin international airport.” And I said, “Oh, it’s on the way, you could drop him on the way – perfect.” And in fairness to Madonna, she did give Sergio a lift back to town.

Although I was happy because at least she posted something about it (which can raise awareness to many), it's still a slaughter driven solely by one side. Wanting peace is not enough. It should be condemned. This kind of "peace" should be "disturbed".
But I won't dive deeper into this since we already know how it usually turns out.

Pfft. Good policy is continued silence if the extent of devastation and evil Israel has perpetrated in Gaza has not moved you to condemn it. She still on Israel side and this is about the hostages. The artists of the world largely ignored Palestine, especially the ones with claims to being freedom fighters

Crave is a good example of waiting forever till the radio buzz is done to release the video (and keeping the eye patch still for people to be puzzled and cringe at...please no C2 props or overbaked marketing narrative)

It's not a question of whether there was anything concrete or not, it's a question of treating fans with respect and not posting something like this (clearly and early announcement) knowing there indeed would be a hype that resulted into nothing.
I personally don't care because she already gave me plenty and she obviously doesn't owe anything to anyone, it's her career and she can do whatever she wants. But it does show her in a bad light- it breaks trust and respect, creates bad aura and was completely unnecessary.

i am not sure what you personally would consider her building hype to something. if this is not it, i don't know what you would expect. maybe only a release date or something super concrete, but to be honest this world doesn't work usually like this. madonna usually teases things, and a % of the time it ends up amounting to something, but most of the time nothing. it is frustrating. we should ignore everything she says until we get a proper announcement (not a tease) with a release date lol

Why do you keep insisting nothing is ever beeing announced or confirmed?
The original post says "check back soon to found out" their secret. i know nothing concrete is beeing said, but at the very least she's saying something is coming and should be checked out #soon.
what i think happened is something WAS coming and was scraped, but her team messed up and posted this anyway. i think it's perfectly fair to assume her team doesn't know what they're doing and they post this kind of things only to build hype that ends up beeing nothing, to the disappointment of her fans. absolutely unnecesary.

I completely gave up on expecting the reissues promised by Warner more than a year ago tbh, I can only see the reissue campaign ever happening because of M15 being a "COADF 2.0" thing leading directly into a great 20th anniversary reissue for the album at the very end of the year, which makes a lot of sense, lowkey seems something that might have been in the plans as well. But even in this case, my only excitement so far is at the new album, no more.

Excited for new music (if its not aimed at the charts and current trends like MX managed) but also really really disappointed with no legacy releases or nostalgia at this stage, its very limited old thinking these digital days not to do both new and old with targeted marketing.
